Visit the Iconic Tybee Island Lighthouse & Museum

Tybee Island Lighthouse & Museum is located on the northeast end of the city. This lighthouse was built in 1773 and is one of the only seven surviving lighthouses from the colonial era.

It is the country's most well-preserved, most intact, and most complete historic lighthouses.

The admission fee to enter the lighthouse and the museum is $10. The lighthouse is open for tours from 10 in the morning to 4 in the evening and is closed only on Tuesdays.

Fort Pulaski is located only 5 miles away from Tybee Island on Cockspur Island. This National Monument is a brick fortification from the 19th century that was used during the American Civil War and the Union Army.

After being rendered obsolete, it was used as a prisoner-of-war camp. A guide tells everything about the fort and its history every day around mid-morning.

You can visit the bunkers and earthworks in the fort along with other fascinating places. There is a cannon in the parade ground that is still actually working and is fired during the live reenactments of the earlier times when the fort was used.
