15 Incredible Restaurants in Cedar City, UT You Need to Try

A cheeseburger, pie and a burrito plate

Cedar City began in 1851 as the Iron Mission, a pioneer settlement on Coal Creek where families called by Brigham Young tried to build an iron industry, and that ranching-and-mining past still shows up on local menus. Today it is a university town of about 35,000 people and the home of the Utah Shakespeare Festival, which was founded in 1961, won a Tony Award for outstanding regional theatre in 2000 and runs from June into October. Most of the best-known restaurants sit downtown along Main Street and West Center Street, with more spread along South Main, Highway 56 and Sage Drive, and the city is a convenient base for Zion, Bryce Canyon and Cedar Breaks.

This guide covers 15 places, from a wood-fired pizzeria and a cowboy steakhouse to Italian, Indian and Thai dinners, a diner that began at the cattle auction and a French café on Main Street. Ratings and review counts come from each restaurant’s Google listing in October 2026.

Centro Woodfired Pizzeria

Centro opened in 2012 at 50 W. Center Street, just west of Main Street in downtown Cedar City. Its pizzas are 12 inches across, thin-crusted and cooked in a wood-fired oven over live flame. The restaurant says it makes its toppings and other ingredients from scratch and handles the dough gently rather than tossing it in the air. There is a patio, and pets are allowed on the sidewalk and patio.

Rated 4.7 stars from more than 3,400 Google reviews, Centro is one of the most-reviewed restaurants in Cedar City. Pizza is the order, and the charred “leopard spotting” that open flame leaves on the crust is part of the flavor. Reviewers name the Pancetta and Grape, Fennel Sausage and Pollo Rustico pies and the Dolce Diavola. Start with the bruschetta or the arugula salad, and finish with the Nutella piegato, a dough pocket baked in the wood-fired oven.

Reservations are recommended for dinner, and the website links to Yelp for booking, so plan ahead on festival nights. Food is timed once everyone in your group has arrived, so you can’t call ahead and have a pizza waiting. There is no delivery. The four-seat high-top bar is first come, first served, and Utah law requires food with any alcohol. Vegetarian and vegan options are available. Check hours before you go.

Chef Alfredo’s Ristorante Italiano

Chef Alfredo’s Ristorante Italiano is on Highway 56 on the west side of Cedar City, well away from the downtown blocks, and almost next door to Market Grill. Google tags it as an Italian restaurant, pasta shop, salad shop and steak house. Listings mention a private dining room, outdoor seating where pets are allowed and room for large groups. Visit Cedar City recommends it for celebration dinners.

Rated 4.6 stars from more than 1,500 Google reviews, Chef Alfredo’s is one of the most-reviewed restaurants in town. Reviewers praise the house marinara, the dinner salads and the complimentary bread. Dishes that come up often are spaghetti and meatballs, chicken parmigiana, eggplant parmigiana, rigatoni carbonara and ravioli filled with butternut squash or truffle mushroom. Finish with tiramisu or chocolate lava cake.

Call ahead to reserve, especially on festival show nights, since listings describe reservations as required. A private room is available for bigger parties, and reviewers say takeout holds up well. Sunday hours are shorter than the rest of the week, so check hours before you go. It is a short drive from the festival theatres, so leave time to get back for curtain.

Market Grill

Market Grill began as a lunch counter for ranchers and buyers at the weekly cattle auction, where Bonnie Beacham cooked burgers on a cast iron grill set up on two hot plates. The owners of the Cedar Livestock Auction helped her open a small permanent restaurant. Today it sits at 2290 W. Highway 56, with livestock-heritage signs, western art and photos of the auction corrals on the walls.

Market Grill has 4.5 stars from more than 900 Google reviews, and the restaurant says the Salt Lake Tribune named it a top ten small restaurant. Breakfast leans on the Farmer’s Special, the Country Breakfast, chicken fried steak and eggs, and a stack of hotcakes. Lunch means burgers, including the Market Grill Burger. Dinner brings 12-ounce rib-eye and New York steaks, chicken fried steak and pork chops, with pecan and cream pie to finish.

Breakfast is served until noon every day. Lunch starts at 11 a.m., or noon on Saturday, and dinner is served Monday through Saturday, so Sunday visits are best planned around breakfast and lunch. Whole pies are sold as well as slices if you want one for the road. Check hours before you go, and expect a casual, family-style room.

The Pub Spirits + Craft Kitchen

The Pub Spirits + Craft Kitchen is at 86 W. Center Street, a short walk from Centro and from Main Street. It grew out of the Pastry Pub, a Center Street restaurant that local listings date to 1999, and new owners reimagined it, with a ribbon cutting covered by St. George News. In March 2026 the Cedar City Area Chamber of Commerce gave it the Customer Service & Hospitality award at its Best of Cedar City gala.

Rated 4.6 stars from more than 1,500 Google reviews, The Pub is built around sandwiches and burgers, with cocktails alongside. The French Dip, with smoked shaved prime rib, Swiss and garlic mayo on a toasted garlic hoagie, is the most-liked item on its online ordering page. The pastrami burger is another favorite. Frychos (loaded spiral-cut fries) and roasted goat cheese are also on the menu. Finish with the Millionaire Cake, a two-layer chocolate cake with caramel, or the apple cobbler.

Weekend hours start earlier than weekday hours, and the menu includes breakfast, so check the current times before you go. Takeout, delivery and online ordering are available, and the outdoor seating sits near a busy road. Vegan and gluten-free options are on the menu. Call ahead for a larger group or a festival show night, and ask about catering if you are feeding a crowd.

Bowman’s Cowboy Kitchen

Bowman’s Cowboy Kitchen sits on Iron Springs Road on the north side of Cedar City. The Bowman family says the restaurant grew out of the home-cooked meals they made during their drilling days across Utah, and the cowboy theme runs through the menu, from Campfire Steak to Chuckwagon Meatloaf. The family also runs a food truck, and the menu’s Mini Torta is modeled on its famous torta.

With 4.6 stars from more than 800 Google reviews, Bowman’s is known for hearty portions. Start with the oozy cheese curds, then choose the Campfire Steak, a 10-ounce top sirloin sold under its Brazilian name, picanha, or the chicken fried steak. The Iron Miner’s Burger pays homage to the area’s iron mines, and Cowboy Poutine and the Spanish Trail Pasta are the more unusual plates.

Reservations are offered for large groups, and smaller parties can walk in. The website lists lunch and dinner on weekdays and breakfast on weekends starting at 9 a.m., but the hours on different pages don’t match, so check before you go. There is a spacious room for parties and events.

Philly Foundry Cheesesteaks

Order online for pickup if you are short on time, or walk in and order at the restaurant. Check hours before you go, and plan to eat before an evening show rather than after it.

Second East

Second East, also written 2nd East, is a family-owned restaurant at 686 Canyon Ranch Drive that serves home-cooked meals from early morning to evening. The dining room is cozy, and a retro van turned into a food counter is part of the setting. It also caters and offers party packages for groups.

Rated 4.3 stars from more than 600 Google reviews, Second East covers breakfast, lunch and dinner. In Utah a scone usually means a piece of fried dough served with honey butter, and the menu builds on that with scones and dips such as honey butter and orange cream butter. The sconewiches, sandwiches built on scones, come with sausage and egg or grilled cheese. Also try the signature French toast, the baked pastas such as Mamma Mia and the self-service salad bar.

Breakfast, including the French toast and sconewiches, is served until 2 p.m. Hours run morning to evening Monday through Saturday, and the restaurant is closed on Sundays. Dessert is a real option here, with hand-scooped ice cream, floats and the Frozen Frenchy, which puts strawberry cheesecake ice cream on French toast. The French Spot

The French Spot is a family-run café and pastry shop at 18 S. Main Street, by the Stratford hotel, just south of the Center Street intersection. Google describes it as a small café with a service window and outdoor seating. The website says it is led by a chef from Lyon who trained under Paul Bocuse and Gaston Lenôtre and has cooked in Michelin-starred kitchens in Paris and Geneva, plus fine-dining restaurants in Dubai and New York.

With 4.5 stars from more than 800 Google reviews, it is well established on Main Street. Pastry is the draw: almond croissants, fruit tarts, éclairs and lavender macarons. For something heartier, reviewers point to the croque monsieur with salad, French onion soup, quiche and crêpes. Coffee drinks include seasonal fruit lattes, and wine and beer are served as well.

The café keeps long hours, from morning into the evening, so it suits breakfast, a light lunch or dessert after a show. Seating is limited, so go at off-peak times or take pastries to go. The menu is posted on the website as images, and a Christmas dinner menu appears there too, so ask about holiday plans if you visit in December. Reservations are not mentioned, so plan on walking in. Park Place Eatery

Park Place Eatery is a counter-service crêperie at 23 W. Center Street, a short walk from Centro. Visit Cedar City describes the room as having exposed brick and eclectic decor and says the baked goods are made fresh daily. Beyond sweet and savory crêpes, the menu covers sandwiches, soups and Italian sodas, and there is outdoor seating along with vegan options.

With 4.6 stars from more than 600 Google reviews, Park Place is well loved downtown. For something sweet, reviewers point to the Nutella cheesecake crêpes, the apple and caramel crêpe and the berries and cream. Bristlecone

Bristlecone pairs a coffee bar with a yoga and spin studio at 67 W. Center Street, on the same downtown block as Centro and The Pub. The studio runs hot yoga, hot sculpt, spin, warm flow, candlelight yoga and sound bath classes, and the café opens early, at 6 a.m. Monday through Saturday and 7 a.m. on Sunday.

Bristlecone’s 4.8-star rating across more than 300 Google reviews is the highest of any restaurant in this guide. The breakfast sandwich and breakfast bagel are the food orders reviewers mention most, along with the Tuscan and veggie sandwiches, and Visit Cedar City has pointed visitors to its NYC bagels and apple nachos. Drinks include pour-over coffee, the crème brûlée cappuccino and lavender lemonade, and the online menu takes orders through Clover.

The café closes mid-afternoon, so come in the morning or around lunch rather than later in the day. An early start makes it a good stop before a drive to Zion, Bryce Canyon or Cedar Breaks. Order ahead online if you are short on time, and check hours before you go.

Final Thoughts

Festival season runs from June into October, so it is smart to call ahead for dinner on show nights, and Namaste America recommends reservations because its dining room is small. Centro, The Pub, Park Place Eatery and Bristlecone are within a short walk of one another on West Center Street, and The French Spot is just south of that intersection on Main. Chef Alfredo’s and Market Grill are neighbors out on Highway 56, a short drive west of downtown. Watch the clock: Philly Foundry closes in the early evening, Bristlecone’s café closes mid-afternoon, and Erawan, Second East and Park Place Eatery are listed as closed on Sundays. Utah law requires food with alcohol, so plan to order a meal if you want a drink at Centro. Check hours before you go.
