Senoia is a city in Coweta County, Georgia, and is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area.
Situated just 35 minutes from Atlanta, the city is bordered by Peachtree City to the north.
The first recorded settlement in the area happened in 1860 when Rev. Francis Warren Baggarly led a Methodist Episcopal church there.
When residents from the nearby Willow Dell community arrived in 1864, the settlement was already named Senoia.
The name’s origin is difficult to determine, but a popular theory says it came from the name of Captain William McIntosh’s wife, Senoya He-ne-ha.
Another suggests that the name came from “Shenoywa,” a Native American title for McIntosh.

Lake McIntosh Park, located on TDK Boulevard in Peachtree City, Georgia, is 15 minutes from Senoia.
The 650-acre reservoir on Line Creek was completed in 2012, including a 14.5-acre park that provides only public access to the lake.
The park has walking trails, a gazebo, a playground area, and a pavilion with chairs and tables where you can picnic.
There’s a ramp with two boat docks where you can launch a kayak.
Electric power boats are also permitted to ply the lake, not gasoline, hydrocarbon, or alcohol-fueled boats.
Swimming is not allowed in Lake McIntosh, so you’d better explore the half-a-mile loop trail.
The trail takes only ten minutes and is ideal for road biking, running, or casual strolling.
Aviation fans will surely enjoy visiting the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Airbase Georgia on Echo Court in Peachtree City.
Just a 13-minute drive from Senoia, CAF Airbase Georgia is an operating airbase with a museum featuring World War II and aviation artifacts collected throughout the years.
The Airbase operates rare WWII vintage aircraft, including one of the last few flying SBD-5 Dauntless in the world, a P-51D Mustang, a T-34B Mentor, a T-6 Texan, and a P-63A Kingcobra.

Drive 16 minutes from Senoia to reach Lake Peachtree, located in Peachtree City.
Around the lake is a 3.8-mile loop trail that will take around an hour and 16 minutes to complete.
The city’s 80 miles of golf cart paths connect Lake Peachtree to the nearby Lake Kedron, providing visitors with 500 acres of water for fishing, sailing, and canoeing.

Some parts of the Line Creek Nature Area’s trail can get steep and rocky, and the creek rocks near the waters can be slippery, so wear comfortable footwear and be careful.
