The 33-year old cop has worked for two years in this position.

At the moment, Barnes was unarmed.

In June of the following year, he was married to Alison Brady, a classmate from 1989.

Barnes was 24 years old when he died.

In honor of Barnes' memory, his family gave the fountain to Jewell in 2000.
