Harns Marsh is a large nature reserve offering spectacular wildlife views and recreational activities.
It was established in the early 1980s when the authorities renovated an old and massive 578-acre farmland into a stormwater facility that helped filter water and reduce flooding for the Orange River.
The resulting water facilities have allowed the creation of thriving habitats for all kinds of wildlife, becoming home to more than 140 species—from birds and fish to insects and other small mammals.
It’s worth noting that this is solely a nature reserve and not a park, so don’t expect any other amenities other than some nice cut green space for picnics.

The park was originally part of an old golf course; it retained most of the old site’s geographical features and 90% of the trees.
Here you can enjoy walking, jogging, biking, and skateboarding around the 0.5-mile paved path that loops around a three-acre artificial prairie.
There’s also an outdoor fitness area and a boardwalk made with environment-friendly materials, with the fitness area partially made of old rubber tires and the boardwalk deck having recycled plastic mixed in.

The Majestic Golf Club was built in 1975 by architect Bob Petrucka with 18 holes and 6784 yards.
