Enid is the county seat of Garfield County, Oklahoma.
It has taken pride in its adventurous spirit since its unique beginning during the Land Run of 1893, or the Cherokee Outlet Opening.

The Midgley Museum is a wonderfully decorated home made of petrified rock and wood that houses an unusual collection of items and antiques that Mr. and Mrs. Dan Midgley gathered over a lifetime.
The Midgleys immigrated from England to America in the 1870s.
They donated the home and their collections to the city of Enid, making it a city-owned museum.
This fantastic house and the unique collection inside are a must-see for those who admire gems and minerals.
Exhibits at the Midgley Museum include a massive mineral and rock collection featuring a 7,000-lb petrified stump and fluorescent rocks that can only be seen underneath a black light.
The collection includes over 30 kinds of exotic crystals, rocks, agate, fossil stones, petrified wood, and sandstone.
The Midgley Museum offers free admission and welcomes donations from visitors; a gift shop is also available on-site.
The Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center, located along the Chisholm Trail, is one of the most prominent locations in the American West.
It was named Outstanding New Attraction in Oklahoma.
With exciting exhibitions and living history programs, the Heritage Center honors the pioneering spirit of the Cherokee Outlet.
The Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center is home to various historical items, capturing the events of the Cherokee Strip Land Run.
Almost 10,000 artifacts are housed at the Heritage Center, including the first portable drilling rig created by George E. Failing in 1930, displayed at the museum’s entrance.
A Research Center is available on-site for genealogical and historical research on the area and the 1893 Land Run.
Using its extensive collection of objects, pictures, and documents, the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center brilliantly chronicles the history of the Cherokee Outlet and its settlers.
See a live theater show at the Gaslight Theatre, one of Oklahoma’s oldest and busiest community theaters.
Founded as the Enid Community Theatre in 1966, the group stages ten productions yearly, including musicals, dinner theater, and Shakespeare in the Park.
Since 1989, the theater has been housed in the historical 1923 Billings Theatre, located on North Independence Street.
Gaslight Theatre holds the Charlie Awards Ceremony annually to recognize volunteers and performers named for long-time patron Charles Norman Duff.
With support from the locals, the Gaslight Theatre is run by volunteers who regularly work both backstage and onstage.

The Railroad Museum of Oklahoma was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.
It is home to one of the country’s greatest collections of railroad artifacts.
More than 1,000 dining car china pieces and silver service from vintage passenger trains are on display.
You can also see railroad paintings, steam engine bells, depot clocks, locks and keys, a working telegraph system, and maps showing different railroad lines.

The 110-acre Meadowlake Park is one of the largest parks in Enid.
The park features a lot of family-friendly attractions such as a fishing lake, walking and biking trails, picnic areas, shelters, tennis courts, a miniature golf course, horseshoes, a baseball diamond, a playground, and restrooms.
Meadowlake Park also offers children’s rides like a Ferris wheel, a real carousel, miniature airplanes, cars, and a mini train ride.
The Meadowlake Train has been a staple for decades in Enid, traversing two bridges and one train tunnel that covers the park’s northern and southern sides.

One of the first parks in Enid is Government Springs Park.
It was once a natural spring along the Chisholm Trail that Native Indians frequented before Oklahoma became a state.
Later, cattle drivers and soldiers traveling the Chisholm Trail also used the spring.
Park visitors can take advantage of the walking trails, park shelters, fishing docks, and a small waterfall on the prairie.
