While this list showcases some remarkable restaurants, it's important to note that this is an opinion piece, and there are many other exceptional dining establishments that are not featured here.
Our aim is not just to guide you to popular eateries but to encourage you to venture out and experience the city's diverse culinary landscape for yourself

Plantasia Eatery

I have always been a foodie with a special inclination toward trying out various cuisines and eateries.

That's how I stumbled upon Plantasia Eatery's website here and decided to visit the place.

To say I was amazed would be an understatement.

Plantasia Eatery isn't your ordinary food joint - it's a culinary adventure packed with plant-based delights.

We ordered the tamarind mule and grapefruit refresher, which were refreshingly tasty, setting the tone for what was to follow.

The tamales were perfectly textured, paired with a salsa that burst with flavor with each bite.

The buffalo sauce was a game-changer - it had this zing that was nothing short of a 10/10 experience.

A standout dish was the portobello cheesecake - with its gooey "cheese" and perfectly cooked mushroom, it was a delight in every bite.

We also tried the cream of cauliflower soup, which had a pleasing texture and went hand-in-hand with the side of bread.

But it's not just the food that's exceptional at Plantasia Eatery.

Every dish that comes out of her kitchen is a testament to her skill and the love she puts into her creations.

You can't just visit Plantasia Eatery once.

You find yourself going back again and again, each time uncovering a new favorite on their menu.

Each visit is a unique gastronomic journey that leaves you eager to embark on the next one.

Tiki Grill

One of the spots I often find myself visiting in town is the Tiki Grill.

It's tucked away among the other retail businesses, but once you step inside, it's like you've been transported to a tropical paradise.

The decor is bright and festive, with just the right amount of color and cuteness that radiates a fun, vibrant vibe.

I love that it isn't tacky at all - just enough splash to make you feel like you're on a mini vacation.

They're always so warm and welcoming, eager to answer any questions about the menu or make recommendations.

As for the food, it's absolutely top-notch.

The buttery Jamaican jerked wings?

Some of the best I've ever tasted.

They're up there with the finest wings I've ever had, even compared to the renowned Buffalo wings.

And the whole fried red snapper?

Perfectly cooked.

Flakey, moist, and for a price of $22.95, including two sides - it feels like a steal!

Evans Fish and Chips

Evans Fish and Chips certainly delivers.

The first thing that got me through the door was the impressive average review score after hundreds of submissions, and boy, it didn't disappoint.

I'm a fish and chips veteran, and their English style, complete with vinegar and salt, was a revelation.

The cod used was high-quality, perfectly coated in a crisp, flavorful breading.

But it wasn't just their fish and chips that won me over.

Their homemade tartar sauce is something else, I could practically drink it!

And let's not forget the sticky toffee pudding - a must-try if you have room left.

Their shrimp dish also had me reminiscing about my childhood spent in England.

One particular standout about Evans Fish and Chips is their commendable customer service.

One time, I forgot my wallet and had to fumble with Google Pay, which was a new experience for me.

The place is small, almost cozy, which makes it more of a carry-out joint.

But the size doesn't detract from the quality of their meals.

The portions are generous, with the cod being a nice large piece, served fresh.

The chips are an interestingly thick size, adding to the unique dining experience.

Bow Wow Street Dogs & Grill

I've always loved a good hot dog, and let me tell you, I've found the top dog in town: Bow Wow Street Dogs & Grill.

The menu is absolutely outstanding, and every meal I have had there has been top-notch.

They’ve got a menu item called the 'Avocado Dog' that is truly out of this world.

I mean, who would have thought to put avocado on a hot dog?

Only geniuses, that's who.

The atmosphere at Bow Wow is unbeatable, too.

You walk in, and you instantly feel like you're part of the Bow Wow family.

And speaking of treats, you've got to try the fenta sodas.

They're refreshing and pair perfectly with their dogs.

And the best part?

If they run out of a flavor, they’ll send three different ones in its place with a little note - talk about customer service!

But perhaps the most convenient part about Bow Wow is its drive-through.

Open from Tuesday to Saturday, it's the perfect spot for grabbing a quick bite on the go.

Asia Station

Ah, my local haunt, Asia Station.

I've lost count of how many times I've visited this place.

I guess you could say it's my little comfort spot whenever I'm in the mood for some Asian cuisine.

My buddies and I usually order the same thing every time we come here.

The Pad Thai, Orange Chicken, and Fried Rice are our absolute favorites.

The best part about Asia Station is that they offer different spice levels.

We're not ones to shy away from a spicy challenge and usually go for a level of 3 to 5.

But they go all the way up to a 10, so if you're a spice lover, you're in for a real treat!

One of the highlights of this place for me is the Thai iced coffee.

It has a really unique flavor that's hard to find elsewhere.

And while I'm usually not a fan of curry, the red curry chicken here is incredible.

I've tried it at a level 2, and it had just the right amount of spice.

If you're feeling adventurous, definitely give it a go at a higher level.

However, not every experience here has been flawless.

There was this one time when I ordered the orange chicken, taking the advice of a few other locals.

While the food was good, I was expecting a little more both in terms of flavor and quantity.

It just didn't hit the spot as much as I expected it to.

Ever since Atria opened in Flagstaff, I've been a frequent visitor, and let me tell you, it has never disappointed me.

It tickles my taste buds with innovative yet delectable dishes and never fails to amaze me with the artistic presentation of the food.

My first tasting menu experience at Atria was nothing short of phenomenal.

I fondly remember the chilled oysters with a unique apple and granita topping - an unexpected surprise dish that still lingers in my memory.

Then came the bone marrow with crab, served in a special bone rack, which was simply exquisite.

The main course was equally impressive.

The wagyu and duck were some of the best I've ever tasted.

However, the standouts were the mussels and chicken.

Paired with the earth-shattering bread that leaves you craving for more, the experience is an absolute treat.

I must also mention the orchiette - a dish so good, it made me, a certified olive hater, devour it completely.

I've seen a lot of restaurants in Flagstaff come and go.

But there's one place that's always stood out to me - Hankerin'.

Now, this isn't just your average eatery.

No, every single item on the menu at Hankerin' is a love letter to the culture and taste of our beloved city.

Take the green Chile burger, for instance.

Here in Flagstaff, we don't take our green Chile burgers lightly.

Screw it up, and you might as well pack your bags.

But at Hankerin', it's pure perfection.

The flavors, right down to the bun, work together so harmoniously that your taste buds will be begging you to come back.

And the green chilies with homemade chili?

Oh, boy, are they a treat!

The steak fries are so good they leave me speechless.

Then there's the tacos and elote.

Watching them being prepared is almost as enjoyable as eating them.

Your mouth will be watering before you even take your first bite.

But what really warms my heart is knowing that Hankerin' is not just about food—it's about community.

They support our local schools and charities, making every meal feel like you're dining with a purpose.

I've tried the Indian tacos here, and while they could use a little more spice, according to my liking, the care and attention that went into making them was evident.

And the hot dogs?

They looked incredible.

I've also had dessert here because I was curious about trying traditional dishes.

If you're someone who appreciates good food and a welcoming environment, I highly recommend stopping in at Kokiyo.

It's a place I've frequented countless times, tucked away from the bustling downtown area, but hidden gems are often the best.

Here's a little insider tip - the Korean plum tea they serve is a savior on chilly days.

Feeling hungry?

Kokiyo's got you covered.

The army men's stew is something I can't miss whenever I'm there.

It's hearty and full of flavor, making it perfect for those days when you're craving something warm and satisfying.

Plus, the portions are generous, you could easily share between two or even three people.

Now if you're a fan of desserts, do yourself a favor and try their strawberry macaron ice cream.

It's not overly sweet, but just right to end your meal on a high note.

They're always ready to help in case you're unsure about any dishes.

One thing to note is the beef bulgogi.

Though it's delicious, there were a few times when I wished it was less fried.

Forêt Flg

I have a confession to make.

Forêt Flg, a gem nestled in the heart of Flagstaff, has been my secret breakfast/brunch spot for a while now.

Its charm is difficult to put into words, but I'll give it a try.

From the moment you step foot into the Forêt Flg, you realize it's not just any other eatery.

The aroma of freshly baked croissants and pain au chocolat wafts through the air, beckoning you to a gastronomical adventure.

The flavors he conjures up are magical, and the love with which each dish is crafted is palpable.

I often find myself succumbing to the allure of their avocado toast – not overly spicy, but perfectly balanced, allowing the freshness of the vegetables to shine through.

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the granola bowl.

Garnished with orange slices, it's more generous than necessary yet impossible to resist.

You end up polishing it off, leaving no room for regret.

Then, there's the grilled brioche with ricotta and lemon curd, a creation as pleasing to the palate as it is to the eye.

Another remarkable creation that I often opt for is sunrise coffee.

A peculiar blend spiked with orange juice and seltzer, it's a delightful surprise that never fails to bring a refreshing start to my day.

Forêt Flg also has a quaint charm to it.

The cozy atmosphere, ambient music, and the gentle hum of conversations make for a great setting to unwind.

New Jersey Pizza Co

There's something truly comforting about my weekly pilgrimage to New Jersey Pizza Co.

For me, it's not just a meal, it's an experience.

With each bite of their inventive homemade pies, I am transported.

My usual order?

The classic Margherita.

It's a symphony of flavors, with the aromatic basil balancing the rich tomato sauce, all topped off with the perfect amount of melted mozzarella.

Each ingredient is thoughtfully sourced, and you can taste the quality in every bite.

It feels like home.

Now, I won't lie, at peak hours, it can take a while to get your order.

But trust me, it's well worth the wait.

In fact, I have come to cherish these moments of anticipation, using them to slow down, take a breath, and enjoy the warm ambiance of the place.

Morning Glory Cafe

Morning Glory Cafe has always been my go-to spot in Flagstaff.

It's a long-standing brunch and lunch spot known for serving organic vegetarian and vegan fare.

There's just something about the eclectic, warm atmosphere that I can't get enough of.

You can learn more about them here.

In terms of food, they never fail to impress.

I still remember the first time I tried their Pesto Tofu Sandwich - it was so light, and the ingredients paired perfectly.

If you're in the mood for something heavier, I highly recommend the Deluxe burger.

And don't even get me started on the cake.

I once ordered a custom cake for my birthday, and it was divine.

I must say, the prices are on the higher side, but what you get in return is well worth it.

We once paid $49 for two dishes - a veggie bowl and a burrito, along with an orange juice and an iced coffee.

Tacos ETM

My love for authentic Mexican food led me to discover one of the hidden gems in our town, Tacos ETM.

Located inconspicuously inside Southside Tavern, it's a delightful surprise that awaits you - an adventure for your taste buds.

You can check the exact location here.

The first time I visited, I ordered their Ramen, and my spouse chose their special - the flavors were absolutely divine.

The food was so appetizing that we didn't even wait to click a picture before devouring it.

The Carne Asada Fries, Birria Mulitas, and Birria Vampiros have been my go-to dishes ever since.

Each dish is prepared meticulously, resulting in a burst of flavors with every bite.

It's no exaggeration when I say it's some of the best food we've had in a long time.

The service at Tacos ETM deserves a special mention, with the bartender always greeting us with a warm smile.

The ambiance is as comforting as the food, making it a perfect place to unwind after a long day.

Las Gorditas Mexican Food

Often, after spending a long day at work, I find myself craving something hearty, and that's usually when I head to Las Gorditas Mexican Food.

There is a certain comfort in its no-frills, down-to-earth setting, but the true magic lies in their food.

Their service is impeccable, and they never fail to make me feel at home.

I typically go for their Mexican plates, which are generously portioned and ideal for satisfying my hunger.

However, if you ask me my personal favorite, I'd have to say it's their chicken taco.

The chicken is perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor, and every bite leaves me wanting more.

Another thing I love about Las Gorditas is their salsa bar and beer selection.

The variety is immense, and each salsa has its own unique taste.

Pairing it with their Mexican beers is a delightful experience.

Red Curry Vegan Kitchen

I've long been a resident of Flagstaff, and one of the places I've frequented for a bite to eat is the Red Curry Vegan Kitchen.

Tucked away in a small corner of our city, it's a charming café offering a variety of homestyle Thai fare.

Over the years, I've sampled several dishes, each one generously filled with fresh vegetables - a hallmark of quality vegan food.

The presentation never fails to impres.

There's a unique offering that I particularly enjoyed - the sampler.

It's a wonderful way to experience multiple appetizers in one sitting.

Their Samosa Wanton - an interesting fusion of Indian Samosa and traditional wonton, is worth a try.

It leaves a mixed Eastern taste that's certainly intriguing.

One of my favorites, though, is the Kow Soi.

Beautifully made with rice noodles, every bite is a flavorful journey till the very last.

And if you're into spicy food, don't forget to ask for the pineapple red curry with spice level 10.

Fat Olives

Every time I crave for that perfect wood-fired Neapolitan-style pizza, I head straight to Fat Olives.

It's one of those joints where the buzz never dies down.

With their gourmet toppings and wine on tap, it's no wonder it's a busy place.

I remember this one time I just got back from a trip to the Grand Canyon, and I stopped there with my son.

We both ordered a pizza with an Italian soda, and let me tell you, the flavor was unreal.

It's not every day that you encounter such an unexpected flavor pallet.

Their service was pretty fast as well.

Every time I step into Satchmo's, I feel like I'm transported to New Orleans.

This unassuming little joint has such a laid-back, jazz-infused atmosphere that it's hard to remember you're actually in Flagstaff.

They're friendly, down-to-earth, and they have this relaxed, chill vibe that just makes you feel right at home.

Plus, the service is always quick and efficient.

But it's the food that really takes center stage at Satchmo's - it's slow-smoked BBQ and gumbo like you've never tasted before.

The blackened SWAI fillet is a personal favorite of mine.

It has this "catfish style" seasoning that's got just the right amount of kick.

Their beef brisket is also a must-try - it's tender, juicy, and you can cut it with just a spoon and fork.

And while the slider buns might not be anything to write home about, the sweet and spicy sauce they serve with it more than makes up for it.

I must confess that I was slightly taken aback the first time I tried their gumbo - it had a hint of bitterness that I wasn't quite expecting.

But it's grown on me, and now I can't get enough of it.

I love the casual, inviting ambiance they've created; it's a precious retreat on a busy day.

One of the highlights of dining at Shift is their multi-course menu.

Josephine's Restaurant

Walking into Josephine's Restaurant is like stepping into a rich tapestry of flavours and history.

Tucked away in a beautifully restored bungalow, this New American bistro instantly charms with its stone fireplace and inviting front porch.

My usual go-to starters are the Baklava Baked Brie and the French Onion Braised Short Ribs – they are nothing short of culinary masterpieces.

On one occasion, I took a chance on their special for the evening, a NY Strip with horseradish cream sauce.

Usually, I'm not a big fan of NY Strip, but I must say, they prepared it so well that it completely changed my perspective.

The service at Josephine's is top-notch.

I recall this one time when I showed up without a reservation on a busy Friday night after a rough day.

Let's talk a bit about their dessert.

The Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Cake is a treat for the senses.

Paired with their perfectly cooked Scottish Salmon, it lends the perfect finale to a delightful meal.

Their 5-course meal is an absolute luxury.

I've tried it a few times, and each time, I am blown away by the flavors they manage to incorporate.

The wine pairing that accompanies the meal enhances the taste and makes the dining experience even more memorable.

The portion sizes may seem small, but they are just the right amount to savor each dish's unique taste.

The service is simply the cherry on top.

As for the cocktails, they are simply delightful.

Eat n' Run Route 66 Cafe

Every time I find myself craving for some delicious breakfast or lunch, the first place that comes to mind is the Eat n' Run Route 66 Cafe.

I absolutely adore their brightly colored interiors that add a touch of joy to your meal.

But most importantly, it's the food that keeps me coming back.

I've tried a variety of dishes from their menu, but the avocado touch is simply to die for!

It's fresh, creative, and has a distinctive flavor that keeps your taste buds excited.

Plus, their Italian sandwich is one of the best I've ever had, with the perfect portion size that fills you up without being too heavy.

And then there’s the coffee.

They've got a first-class blend that's smooth and gives you just the right kick to start your day off on a high.

I also remember my first time trying their Reuben sandwich with a side of kale salad.

The Benedict eggs at Brandy's are the talk of the town, and for good reason.

I've enjoyed them countless times, and each time, the taste is just phenomenal.

Paired with a side of their blueberry pancakes - fluffy, sweet, and absolutely divine - it's the best breakfast you can get, hands down.

But it's not just the food that makes Brandy's special.

Their gourmet coffee is a treat to your senses, a perfect accompaniment to the delectable breakfast fare.

Coming to their lunch options, they're equally inventive and delicious.

My personal favorite is a sandwich they serve, which, believe it or not, has a thinly sliced apple in it.

It's an unexpectedly delightful combination that just works.

Moreover, the service at Brandy's is top-notch.

Mike & Ronda's The Place

My go-to breakfast spot in town is Mike & Ronda's The Place.

I've been frequenting this diner for years, and it has always been a pleasure.

The atmosphere is laid-back, and the Southwest charm adds a unique touch to the overall dining experience.

I appreciate their variety in the menu - whether you're a vegan looking for plant-based options or someone who doesn't eat pork, they've got you covered.

Besides their breakfast staples, their lunch menu is also worth exploring.

The portions are generous, so don't shy away from sharing.

Trust me, there's enough to go around, and the leftovers taste just as mouthwatering!

What sets Mike & Ronda's apart for me is their warmth and friendliness.

It's the kind of place where the locals, like me, keep coming back.

Something else that truly warms my heart is their support towards veterans and military personnel.

However, some might argue that the charm has faded over the years, missing the old biscuits and gravy days.

But as for me, I choose to celebrate the evolution of Mike & Ronda's, continuing to enjoy their offerings as they adapt to the changing times.
