One of the main attractions at Lake Sumter Landing is its extensive boardwalk, where visitors can take a stroll and enjoy amazing views during sunset.
The lake, over the years, has attracted birdlife, so it’s not unusual for you to see seagulls on the boardwalk railings at Lake Sumter Landing.
The Lake Sumter Landing Market Square is one of the spacious town plazas of The Villages.

This park is south of Rainey Trail on the southern terminus of Sumter County Road at the western flank of The Villages.
The park has a spacious parking lot, enabling visitors to haul boats in and launch their watercraft on its ramp.
The park provides canoes free of charge, and you can avail of these boats through the Sumter County Library in the park.
Other facilities available in the four-acre Lake Miona Park include picnic areas, a barbecue grill, a horseshoe pit, a pet station, and restrooms.
Many of the ponds and lakes at The Villages are open to recreational fishing for residents and visitors alike.
The CDDs of The Villages and the State’s Water Management Districts, which oversee and manage these water bodies, encourage a catch-and-release for anglers in The Villages.
One of the best picks for fishing, especially for novice anglers, is at Lake Mira Mar on the northeast of The Villages.
This lake is located at the back of the La Hacienda Regional Recreation Center on Avenida Central.

The Sharon Rose Wiechens Preserve spreads over 624 acres off Moyer Loop on the southeast edge of The Villages.

A one-third-mile walking trail is connected to this outdoor fitness course that’s a short distance south of the Springdale swimming pool.
Outdoor workouts in The Villages are also accessible near the Lake Miona Recreation Center pavilion.
The Springdale Fitness Trail also offers a nine-workout course along a 1.5-mile out-and-back trail next to Buena Vista Boulevard and Black Lake.

The Hogeye Preserve is an 18-acre nature sanctuary nestling around the Hogeye, a natural Florida water basin.
This pond is linked to Fenney Spring, with its clear waters flowing from The Village of Fenney.
You can enjoy basking in nature in this preserve via the 2.5-mile Hogeye Preserve Pathway.
This pathway is a multi-modal path that is accessible from the Cattail Recreation Area of the Marsh Bend Trail.
Stretching over 2.5 miles, this trail cuts under the canopy of oak hammock trees.
Along this pathway, you’ll pass by marshes where sightings of birds like cranes and white egrets are frequent.

The Heritage Festival is a celebration of the diversity of the cultures in the communities of The Villages.
This annual event is traditionally held for two days in October, each hosted in two separate venues.
The first edition of the parade usually kicks off at Brownwood Paddock Square on West Torch Lake Drive.
During this event, the activities center on the culture and traditions in North and South America, Africa, Australia, and Asia.
On the second day, the Heritage Festival shifts to the Spanish Springs Market Square to highlight the cultures across Europe.

This lake is about 13 miles northeast of The Villages and sprawls at about 6,800 acres.
It is Marion County’s largest freshwater system, comprising of main Lake Weir, Sunset Harbor, and Little Lake Weir.

This conservation area covers over 750 acres and is a wonderful place to explore.
Its landscape comprises shoreline beaches, sandhill islands, causeways, and wetlands serving as wildlife habitats.
Aside from this conservation area, the delights of Lake Weir can be also enjoyed at Hampton Beach on Southeast 134th Street at the Ocklawaha CDP.
