Rockford is home to several symbol sculptures, one of which is the giant Symbol sculpture.
The 30-ton Symbol, designed by a Russian-born artist from Kyiv, was placed in 1978 in the downtown mall.
The sculpture’s purpose is to honor Rockford’s industrial metal-bending industries, which have long served as the city’s economic backbone.
The Symbol sculpture was taken apart and transferred to its present place on the edge of the Rock River in 1984.

The ROCKFORD letters at the seven acres of Davis Park are a popular spot for photos.
Measuring four feet tall and made out of aluminum, the colorful letters are impossible to miss.
They were installed in 2020 as part of a major redevelopment project for the park.
The letters have quickly become a popular spot for selfies and group photos, and a lot of visitors flock here to post pictures on the Instagram feed.

Hundreds of volunteers cut tiles and handcrafted the enormous mosaic panels and sculpture foundation by hand under the supervision of artist Susan Burton.

The Rock Men Guardians in Rockford is a must-see public art for anyone visiting the area.
The statue, which Terese Agnew created, a Milwaukee artist, uses actual heavy boulders and cement to bind these boulders together.
The Rock Men strikes a different superhero pose, with the clear leader placing his palm atop a rocky sword as he stands poised for combat.
Although giants made of stone wouldn’t require such defense, the vast boulder men are intended to appear as though they are donning historical armor equipped with battle skirts.

It also seems that at least two of the figures are female, but this could be some misunderstanding brought on by their large pecs.
Well, should anybody accuse the Rock Men Guardians of being discriminatory in the entrance to their ranks? They’re only boulders, after all!
