As a testament to “triumph over tragedy,” the Boll Weevil Monument is the only one of its kind in the world – a statue that pays tribute to an insect.
It stands in the middle of Downtown Enterprise as a reminder of the city’s victory in the early 1900s when the boll weevil destroyed much of the cotton crops, which was a predominant crop at the time, in the area.
