Pay Tribute to Heroes at Heck Park
Now and then, I find myself compelled to visit Heck Park, a place close to my heart and a silent tribute to our Vietnam veterans.
The serene green space symbolizes gratitude, a memorial to honor those who died for our nation.
Moreover, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial construction had the whole town engaged, and I remember spending countless hours at the park back then.
Contributing to the Huey helicopter project #632 in 1991 was a significant milestone for me.
The sight of that helicopter today takes me on a nostalgic trip to the past when things were simpler.

Feel the Thrill at George Armstrong Custer Equestrian Monument

Every day, I wake up to the stunning sight of the George Armstrong Custer Equestrian Monument.
Nestled in the beautiful park that paints the scenery of my quaint town, Monroe. It's truly a sight to behold.
The river becomes a stage for Mother Nature's performances, changing its hues with the seasons. It's always a sight for sore eyes.
Our town is not just about the breathtaking monument and the serene river.
We have people who believe in community and care.
For instance, our oil change place on Monroe Street is run by folks who are as good with people as they are with machines.
Regarding food, we are spoilt for choice.
My personal favorite is the Independent Dairy.

It's the definition of Yum. Apart from that, we have every fast food place you could crave.
And, if you're willing to splurge a bit, the Eureka eatery on Monroe Street offers a delightful experience.
Their chicken is worth every penny, and their shakes are simply out of this world!
But the crown jewel of our town remains the George Armstrong Custer Equestrian Monument.
As I recently found out, it's an incredible sight, especially on a beautiful morning.
Armed with my camera, I captured the monument in the soft morning light.
