I spent my Sunday afternoon at one of Queens' finest cultural hubs, the SculptureCenter.

It's a marvelous space founded by artists regularly showcasing contemporary work from emerging and established artists.

Their current display is a massive artwork that fills the room with awe and wonder.

I highly recommend anyone to sit with it for a bit, soak in its grandeur, and let your mind wander.

The venue is a treat to the senses, with its grand hall and multiple rooms, each radiating its unique ambiance.

It's ideal for hosting various artists or different parts of the same show.

I can still remember the buzz from the opening day.

The place was teeming with guests, all eager to experience the incredible artwork.

It's this 1.5-acre park that used to be a parking lot. Can you believe it?

Now, it's a haven of greenery with wetlands and native plants that's just so refreshing to see amidst the towering skyscrapers and clattering elevated trains.

Dutch Kills Green is a pleasant corner in the city's heart despite its small size.

Tall buildings surround it, but once you're inside, the canopy of trees mainly shields you from the urban sights, if not the sounds.

And I tell you, they provide pretty good coverage when it rains.

The foliage is dense enough to keep you dry. Trust me on this: I've been caught in a sudden downpour.

In terms of wetlands, don't expect to see much. But the park makes up for it with beautiful flowers and abundant seating.

There's even a photo op spot for Instagrammable moments.

It's a fantastic little park with trails and paths to stroll and soak up the nature vibe.

Dutch Kills Green is a breath of fresh air, a lovely little island in the middle of a bustling city.

With benches for seating, an expanse of cement slab that adds a touch of modernity, and tables perfect for lunch breaks, it's the ideal spot for a bit of respite.

You'll often find me there, enjoying a sandwich from one of the food trucks parked nearby.

They're not always present, but on the lucky days that they are, their delightful offerings make my lunch breaks all the more enjoyable.

The park is also a place to breathe, enjoy the moment, and escape the city's hustle and bustle for a while.

One thing that makes the park stand out is the stone memorial dedicated to its war hero namesake, a testament to its history and significance.

There's also the occasional art installation that adds a dash of color and creativity to the place.

For instance, they had a pink installation adorned with personal notes from residents or businesses describing Long Island City.

The skyline view itself is, without a doubt, one of the best in New York.

I've found that the 7-line (purple) is the most convenient way to get here from anywhere in Manhattan.
