I'll tell you, there's no sweeter smell than the scent of 3,000 different varieties of roses filling the air.

That's what you get at the Hershey Gardens, a hidden treasure tucked right beside the Hotel Hershey.

In my many visits, I've come to appreciate the immense beauty of this 23-acre garden, with its rare trees and beautiful flowers.

During summer, the garden is ablaze with colors, with roses blooming in every corner.

As someone who cherishes gardening, this place is my sanctuary.

I often spend my afternoons strolling through the garden, basking in the serene ambiance and snapping pictures of the unique flora.

But it's not just about the roses.

The butterfly house is equally captivating.

I love watching the butterflies flutter around, landing on the fruits and flowers.

Sometimes, if you're lucky, they might even land on you!

It's a sight you have to see to believe.

The Hershey Gardens is a family-friendly haven - my daughter loves it here.

A Fluttering Wonderland at The Butterfly Atrium, Hershey Gardens

Every time I step into the magical world of The Butterfly Atrium at Hershey Gardens, it feels like stepping into a fairytale.

This little slice of paradise, nestled in the heart of our town, is the crowning jewel of Hershey Gardens.

The moment you enter, your senses are overwhelmed by the vibrant colors and fluttering wings of countless butterflies, creating a spectacle of beauty that is hard to describe in words.

When you walk in, the first thing you notice is the sheer variety of butterflies.

It's not just the common ones, but a whole host of rare and exotic species, each more magnificent than the last.

The trees, plants, and flowers that host these beautiful creatures are a sight to behold in their own right.

For more information, you can visit their website.

What truly sets the Atrium apart is its educational aspect.

They have countless cocoons and chrysalises on display, allowing you a peek into the fascinating life cycle of these winged beauties.

The friendly and knowledgeable staff are always there to answer any queries you might have and make your visit a truly enlightening experience.

Beyond the captivation of the Atrium, Hershey Gardens also has several other charms.

The Japanese Garden, the Kid's Corner, and the Pebble Garden are other attractions that you should not miss.

However, my personal favorite has to be the Rose Garden.

With its intoxicating fragrance and riot of colors, it never fails to transport me to a world far removed from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

So next time you're in town, don't miss the opportunity to lose yourself in this enchanting world of butterflies and blooms.

After all, life is more beautiful with a little bit of magic!

Discovering History at the Pennsylvania State Police Museum

When you live in a place for a long time, it's easy to overlook the historical gems that are nestled right in your own backyard.

That's exactly how I felt after my first visit to the Pennsylvania State Police Historical, Educational, & Memorial Center.

This place is a treasure trove of history and knowledge about our local law enforcement.

I decided to visit on a whim one afternoon and wasn't quite sure what to expect.

Upon arriving, I was met with a plethora of artifacts, exhibits, and memorials that track back to the early 1900s.

The evolution of their equipment was fascinating, each item telling its own story of progress and innovation.

One of the highlights of my visit was learning about the infamous crimes that shaped our state's history - like the Camp Hill prison riots and the 666 fix.

These events were brought to life through the exhibits and really made me appreciate the tireless efforts of the men and women of the Pennsylvania State Police.

Not only does the museum offer a historical perspective, but it also provides an insight into the future.

There's an exhibit detailing the training process at the nearby State Police Academy, giving a glimpse into the demanding journey of becoming a state trooper.

My personal favorite part was the gift shop, though it's rather small.

It's loaded with unique souvenirs like t-shirts and other wearables to remember your visit by.

I was secretly hoping to find a book that delves deeper into the police force's history and evolution, but no luck this time.

If you're looking for a way to spend an afternoon steeped in history and appreciation for our local heroes, I highly recommend paying a visit to the Pennsylvania State Police Historical, Educational, & Memorial Center.

It's an experience that will make you see our state and those who protect it in a new light.

A Night to Remember at Hershey Theatre

There's a unique charm and grandeur about Hershey Theatre that makes each visit unforgettable.

This performing arts center plays host to a variety of events, from touring musicals and plays to live music concerts and classic films, promising a thrilling experience every time.

I remember the last time I was there, I was spellbound by an outstanding performance of Six: The Musical.

One thing that I've learned from being a regular visitor is that the early bird catches the worm - or in this case, the best parking spot in the theater lot.

Also, for the fashionistas out there, keep in mind their small purse policy.

Anything larger than a fanny pack won't be allowed inside.

The theater itself is a sight to behold.

Its architecture exudes an old-world charm that adds a hint of nostalgia to the modern performances held there.

However, it's a bit of a snug spot.

If you're tall or plus size, I'd recommend grabbing a front row seat to ensure comfort throughout the show.

It's a beacon of culture and entertainment right here in our town, no need for a trip to Philly or NYC.

And I am grateful for that!

Immersed in a World of Chocolate at Hershey's Chocolate Tour

Every time I step into Hershey's Chocolate World, it feels like stepping into a dream.

The sweet aroma of chocolate that fills the air is enough to make anyone's mouth water.

It's an experience I've cherished since I was a kid, and even today, it never loses its charm.

If you're interested in knowing more, you can find all the details right here.

The Hershey's Chocolate Tour is a magical journey, quite literally, through the making of Hershey's chocolates.

From the cocoa beans to the shiny wrapped candies, it's fascinating to see how our favorite sweet treats come to life.

The ride, complete with animated displays, is a hit with children and adults alike, making it a fun family outing.

But it isn't just about watching.

The tour is an immersive sensory experience.

As you progress, you are surrounded by an intoxicating smell of chocolates.

Almost like being enveloped in a chocolate hug!

And the best part?

You even get a free piece of chocolate at the end of the tour.

I still remember the joy this small token brought to my childhood self, and trust me, it's still as exciting as an adult.

Of course, once the tour is over, you cannot leave without checking out the gift shop.

It's a chocolate lover's paradise, filled with Hershey's goodies, collectibles, and gifts.

Whether you're looking for a souvenir to remember your visit or gifts for friends and family, there's something for everyone.

Just be prepared, it's hard to resist the temptation to buy more than you planned!

Cracking the Code at Escape Room Hershey

When it comes to interactive family fun, nothing beats the thrill of the chase at Escape Room Hershey.

Imagine being immersed in an intriguing storyline, sifting through thoughtfully crafted clues, and working together to crack the code!

As a regular participant, the experience is nothing short of exhilarating.

From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by friendly staff who passionately explain the rules and intricacies of each escape room.

Every room has a unique theme and is decked out with puzzles of varying difficulty levels.

Some are designed to challenge the adults, while others are perfect for younger ones aged 6 to 14.

It's a fantastic way to engage the whole family in an intellectually stimulating activity.

One of the things I appreciate most about this place is that they don't limit clues.

Some escape rooms I've been to only allow three, but here they understand that sometimes, you need a helping hand, especially when kids are involved.

And before you're ushered into the room, they've got all the lock types in the lobby.

This is a great feature as it allows you to familiarize yourself with lock mechanisms, ensuring you're not stuck with the right answer but an unyielding lock.

The thrill of hearing that lock click open and progressing to the next room is a rush like no other!

Every visit is a new adventure as they switch up their rooms often enough to keep the intrigue alive.

The cleverly designed rooms and immersive atmosphere make Escape Room Hershey a preferred destination for those seeking an enjoyable challenge.

Whether you're a group of early teens or a party of grandparents, the experience is bound to give you a sense of accomplishment and an unforgettable day out!

Experiencing the Sweetness of My Hometown with Hershey Trolley Works

A parked Hershey Trolley Works
LEE SNIDER PHOTO IMAGES / Shutterstock.com

It's a sweet life here in Hershey, Pennsylvania, the town that chocolate built.

One of the ways I love to immerse myself in Hershey's rich history is by hopping aboard the trolley tour offered by Hershey Trolley Works.

You can learn more about it here.

The tour starts with our charismatic conductor who, like most Hershey locals, is brimming with enthusiasm for our town's history.

As we wind our way through the picturesque streets, he regales us with tales about Milton Hershey, the man whose vision put Hershey on the map.

What makes this tour special, even for a local like me, is the opportunity to see our town's landmarks through a new lens.

The majestic Hotel Hershey and the Milton Hershey School aren't just fixtures in our daily lives; they're testament to the philanthropic spirit of Milton Hershey.

One of my favorite parts of the tour is the trivia games and sing-alongs.

It's a lively and interactive way to learn more about Hershey's past.

Plus, we get to sample some delicious Hershey's chocolate treats along the way - a sweet bonus, if you ask me!

It's not just a tour, it's an experience - a chocolate-dipped journey through the history and heritage of Hershey.

Playful Days at Cocoa Castle

When you're in the heart of Derry Township, the Cocoa Castle at Derry Township Parks and Recreation is a must-visit.

This playground is by far one of the largest I've seen around, and it's not just the size that impresses.

The multiple climbing options, the drums, bells, and playhouse under the gym provide a world of fun for kids of all ages.

The sheer variety of swings and benches is amazing.

Not to mention that there are water fountains and even portable potties available, which can be a lifesaver when visiting with young children.

Now, I must confess that the lack of shade might be a bit off-putting on a hot summer day, especially around noon.

But, if you're clever, there's quite a bit of shade to be found under the gyms.

One thing that you might need to be mindful of is how close it is to a busy street.

The playground isn't very enclosed, so it can be a bit tricky to keep an eye on the little ones, especially when it gets crowded.

I suggest going on a day when it's not too busy, you'll have a much easier time keeping track of your kids and they'll get to use all the equipment they want.

All in all, the Cocoa Castle is a delightful place to spend a day with your kids, making memories that will last a lifetime.

The Delights of Dry Gulch Railroad

Every year, without fail, I find myself drawn to the unique charm and magic of the Dry Gulch Railroad.

Located in Hersheypark, it's a must-visit for both locals and tourists.

It's not just a ride for me, it's an annual ritual.

This family-friendly train ride is a joy for all ages.

One of my favorite times to hop aboard is during the holiday season.

The train ride becomes a mesmerizing journey through a wonderland of sparkling Christmas lights.

It's a truly spellbinding sight that never fails to fill me with a festive spirit.

What I particularly appreciate about the Dry Gulch Railroad is its laid-back pace.

Unlike other thrill rides, this railroad moves slowly, allowing you to savor the beautiful views that unfold around every bend.

You can find more information about this magical ride here.

Another tip I'd like to share is about seating.

If you're after a quieter experience, choose the seats towards the back of the train.

I've found it to be a peaceful retreat from the rush and excitement of the park.

It's also a fantastic way to take a respite from the usually long lines at other Hersheypark attractions.

Experiencing the Dry Gulch Railroad during different times of the year offers a unique charm of its own.

During peak times, they often have more than one train running.

The vibe is electric, and it's a delight to see families and groups of friends enjoying together.

All in all, whether you're visiting Hersheypark for the first time or you're a regular like me, the Dry Gulch Railroad is a ride that you shouldn't miss.

It's more than just an attraction - it's a lovely slice of Hershey's charm, waiting to whisk you away on a delightful journey.

A Day in the Life at Hershey's Chocolatetown

Signage of Hershey's Chocolatetown

I wake up to the sweet scent of chocolate in the air, a signature marker of Hershey's Chocolatetown.

The year-round joy of this place never fails to lift my spirits.

Especially during the winter, the open outdoor bathrooms are a convenient respite during my frequent visits.

I usually take a leisurely stroll here even when the park isn't officially open.

You can find more details here.

Next, I often make a stop at the Hershey Supply Company.

As much as I appreciate its presence, I do wish there were more diverse attractions within Chocolatetown.

However, this is just a small personal preferance and doesn't overshadow the charm this place holds.

In the heart of Chocolatetown, the Kisses-themed fountain is a sight to behold.

It always takes me back to my childhood days, reminding me of the countless chocolate Kisses I've enjoyed over the years.

Among the other attractions, the trolley tour is a must-try!

Not only is it informative and gives you a sneak peek into the history of the place and its founder Milton S.

Hershey, but also rewards you with free chocolate at the end.

It's literally a sweet deal!

A Toast to Tröegs Independent Brewing

Every now and then, you come across a place that manages to strike a magical balance between atmosphere, service, and quality.

Tröegs Independent Brewery is one of those rare finds.

Nestled in the heart of Hershey, Tröegs online presence only offers a glimpse of what awaits you.

There's something about stepping into a lively brewery on a rainy day and being greeted by a jovial staff that warms the spirit.

Tröegs is frequently my refuge on such days.

The knowledgeable staff is always ready to guide you through their vast selection of brews and answer any questions you might have.

And what brews they have!

I've made it my mission to taste them all, and each one is a testament to the quality and craftsmanship that Tröegs pours into every pint.

It's the kind of beer that you enjoy slowly, savoring each sip.

And when you find one you love, you'll want to take it home with you.

But the experience doesn't stop at the beer.

The food - oh, the food!

The menu boasts elevated American grub, with each dish thoughtfully designed to complement the brews.

I've had everything from the juicy brisket sandwich to the Brussels sprouts, and each dish has been absolutely delightful.

The daily specials always add an exciting flair to the menu.

Who knew a pretzel bun stuffed with mozzarella and a tantalizing pesto could be so good?

One of my favorite activities is the guided tour.

It's well worth the $15, not only for the fascinating insight into the brewing process but also for the tastings along the way and a souvenir beer glass to remember the experience.

If you're looking for a place to unwind and savor the finer things in life, Tröegs Independent Brewery is a must-visit.

Just be prepared - it's a popular spot, so it can get busy, but the vibe is always upbeat and friendly.

Whether it's a casual night out with friends or a Father's Day getaway, Tröegs has something for everyone.

Making a Splash at The Boardwalk at Hersheypark

When the summer sun is blazing in the sky and the humidity is thick in the air, there's no place I'd rather be than taking a dip at The Boardwalk at Hersheypark.

It may not be the biggest water park in the world, but it is packed full of fun activities and rides that provide the perfect antidote to the sweltering heat.

The moment you step into the park, you'll notice the lazy river, complete with brand new sitting tubes.

It can be a bit chilly at the start of the season, but it's incredibly refreshing and you soon get used to the temperature.

The wave pool, too, provides a fun, frosty plunge.

One of the things I love about the Boardwalk is its convenience.

Nestled within Hersheypark, you don't have to trek out of the main park to get to the water rides.

But make no mistake, the rides fill up quickly, so it's best to get there as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

The shops, while a bit on the expensive side, offer a range of essentials in case you forget anything at home.

I recall a time when I broke my sandal and ended up buying water shoes because they didn't have my size.

Lesson learned - always bring a spare pair of flip flops!

When hunger strikes, The Shoreline Grill and East Coast Burger Works stand ready to sate your appetite.

While the queues can be long, the wait is worth it for the beer-battered fish and mouth-watering burgers.

But the real highlight of the Boardwalk is the rental cabanas.

If you can, I highly recommend splashing out on a cabana - it really enhances the whole experience.

Between the rides, food, and cabanas, The Boardwalk at Hersheypark is a summer must-visit.

Just remember to pack your own sandals!

Thrilling Thrills at Adventure Sports In Hershey

When is the last time you felt the wind in your hair while racing a go-kart, or experienced the adrenaline rush of a close shave in a game of laser tag?

For me, it's almost every weekend at Adventure Sports In Hershey, the town's best kept secret for adrenaline junkies like me.

The place is a melange of fun-filled activities that never fail to elate me.

I particularly admire the recently updated arcade, which offers a variety of games for every age group.

There's also an outdoor laser tag, bumper boats and go karts that make for a perfect Saturday with friends or family.

I have to admit, the go-kart experience is a bit expensive.

You even pay for a passenger, but the fun we have makes it worth every penny.

The batting cages are another feature that I enjoy.

Hitting some balls after a stressful week at work is therapeutic.

The mini-golf course is another stress buster.

I must admit, the place isn't just for the grown-ups.

My nieces, aged 6 and 7, love the arcade games and often challenge me for a round or two.

The best part about this place, in my opinion, is how clean it is.

The machines are in pristine condition, which makes them even more appealing.

After a fun day of gaming and adventures, nothing beats the taste of ice cream that is available on site.

Just remember to carry a bit of money, because all the fun comes at a price.

But trust me, it's worth it.

A Day at The Hershey Story Museum

Exterior of The Hershey Story Museum
George Sheldon / Shutterstock.com

Ever get a hankering for chocolate and history combined?

If so, I highly recommend a visit to The Hershey Story Museum.

I am a frequent visitor and every time I step into the museum, I'm always struck by the rich heritage and legacy of the Hershey company.

Walking through the exhibits, it’s like stepping back in time.

You can see the evolution of the Hershey product, and how the company has been a driving force in the community.

The trove of artifacts is really impressive, I learn something new every time.

And it’s not just about the company or the chocolate, but about the man, Milton S.

Hershey, himself.

His vision and influence extend far beyond the realms of candy.

The museum also offers interactive exhibits, which are a hit with the younger crowd.

My kids absolutely adore the chocolate lab - a real hands-on experience for budding chocolatiers.

Signage of The Hershey Story Museum
George Sheldon / Shutterstock.com

And the programmed chips that greet you by name at different points in the museum?

A small touch, but it really personalizes the experience.

What I appreciate most though, is the self-guided nature of the tour.

It allows me to meander at my own pace, delve into the parts that most interest me.

And the staff, always there to answer any questions, are incredibly well-versed in all things Hershey.

But it’s not just the museum itself that’s worth visiting.

If you get the combo ticket, you can also explore the Hershey gardens – a real treat for nature lovers.

It's a complete package and definitely worth a visit.

Whether it's a rainy day or I simply want an educational, fun-filled outing for the family, The Hershey Story Museum never disappoints.

So, the next time you're in town, make sure to add this to your PA itinerary.

Rocking Out at Hersheypark Stadium

If you're ever in the mood for an electric night filled with live music, the Hersheypark Stadium is the place to be.

This epic venue is only a hop, skip, and a jump away from my home, and it has seen me through countless concerts and sporting events.

With a seating capacity of 30,000, it never fails to deliver an evening of unforgettable excitement.

You can check out their website to see who's performing next.

I've come to love the fact that this place feels both intimate and expansive at the same time.

I've made some incredible memories here, from belting out my favorite Blink182 songs over Memorial Day weekend, to cheering for my favorite teams on cool Saturday afternoons.

The seats are surprisingly affordable too.

I've had friends drive in from as far as Philly, amazed at the cost difference.

But what good is a concert if you can't get a good view?

At Hersheypark Stadium, I've learned that the bleacher seats are the best.

They offer a fantastic angle and you won't be stuck staring at the back of someone's head.

Trust me on this, you'll want that extra space - they pack those chairs in tight!

I would be remiss if I didn't mention some of the challenges.

The bathrooms, for one, are a bit of a pain.

For a venue that can accommodate tens of thousands, the facilities can't quite keep up.

Embracing Sweet Adventures at Hersheypark

George Sheldon / Shutterstock.com

Who would have thought that chocolate could inspire such adrenaline-filled fun?

As someone who's lived just a stone's throw away from it, I can't express enough how much joy Hersheypark brings.

My early memories of this place are of those big, inviting gates, the smell of chocolate wafting through the air and the sounds of laughter echoing from ride to ride.

The rides, oh, they're an experience you'll surely relish.

From heart-racing roller coasters that'll make you scream with delight, to gentle attractions for the young ones, there's never a dull moment.

But, it's not just about the rides.

The live shows are an absolute treat.

The performers put on an incredible display each time, leaving you on the edge of your seat, clapping and cheering.

I also can't forget to mention the water park.

On those scorching summer days, there's nothing more refreshing than a splash in the cool waters, racing down water slides, or lounging around the lazy river.

Now, if you're a foodie like me, you might find the prices a tad high, but trust me, the variety and quality of the food options here make it worthwhile.

Plus, there's a new dining experience to look forward to - The Chocolatier.

I can't wait to try it!

Hersheypark has always been an integral part of our community.

I've seen it grow from my visits as a kid to now taking my own children there.

The staff is always friendly and helpful, going above and beyond to ensure everyone has a memorable experience.

And yes, the park app might occasionally misjudge the wait times, but hey, who's complaining if the wait is shorter than expected?

Purchasing a season pass is also a fantastic idea.

It offers the flexibility to visit whenever you want, and trust me, there's always something new to explore.

I've had mine for years now, and it's been nothing short of magical.

A Hidden Treasure: Crossroads Antique Mall

"You know you've stumbled upon a hidden treasure when you walk in and it feels like stepping into a time machine.

Every nook and cranny is filled with a beautiful assortment of antiques, from vintage clothing, jewelry, furniture, to collectibles, records, and much more.

If you want to add a touch of antiquity to your life, you can visit their website here.

One day, I found an exquisite freshwater pearl necklace and earring set for just 10 dollars!

There was one time when I was a bit overwhelmed by the vast collection, but one of the staff members kindly took me around the building, showing me all the sections and pieces that might interest me.

They really go out of their way to provide a memorable shopping experience for everyone.

Indulging in MeltSpa by Hershey

Every day feels like a special occasion when I step into MeltSpa by Hershey.

Trust me, it's an experience you won't forget.

Here, they've turned the rich, local Hershey chocolate into a decadent spa experience.

The dark chocolate strawberry immersion treatment is an absolute must-try.

Believe me when I say it leaves your skin feeling silky smooth.

This treatment is like taking a stroll through a lush strawberry field, with the aroma of fresh strawberries enveloping you.

The staff at MeltSpa are what make the experience truly exceptional.

They also offer an indulgent chocolate and champagne facial, which is tailored to address my specific skin concerns.

My esthetician, Emily, is very attentive and knowledgeable.

She knows just the right products to recommend.

Even during the treatment, she ensures your comfort, providing a relaxing face and scalp massage that could make anyone blissfully nod off.

Some spa visits can be a bit daunting, but not at MeltSpa by Hershey.

The pedicure chairs here are the best I've experienced.

They're comfortable, allowing for a relaxing pedicure experience without any discomfort.

They have an incredible relaxation room that is stocked with Hershey kisses, tea, coffee, and their signature hot chocolate.

A pro-tip from a regular visitor, mix the hazelnut coffee into the hot chocolate.

It's heavenly!

Having such a divine spa in town that utilizes natural products, including our famous Hershey chocolate, is a unique treat.

I even got to take a bit of the indulgence home by purchasing a jar of the chocolate scrub.

If you want to know more, you can check out MeltSpa by Hershey for all the tantalizing details.

This local chocolate-infused spa experience is one that you won't want to miss.

An Afternoon Stroll at ZooAmerica

An Owl at ZooAmerica
Nicole Glass Photography / Shutterstock.com

Here's a secret, tucked right next to Hersheypark, there's a little treasure that even some frequent visitors overlook.

It's an 11-acre wonder known as ZooAmerica.

I've strolled through this zoo numerous times and I'm always captivated by its charm.

You can easily breeze through the whole place in an hour and a half, but I prefer taking my time, savoring the sight of mountain lions, owls, reindeer, and many more North American animals.

Despite its size, the zoo never feels crowded, especially during the weekdays.

So, it's the perfect spot for a peaceful afternoon walk.

My favorite part?

The sight of majestic black vultures circling overhead.

Now, they're not officially part of the zoo, but rather a local wildlife presence.

The zoo is actively working with animal groups to manage these visitors.

It's a little like having giant, black seagulls waiting to swoop down on your unattended snacks.

But don't worry, the zoo staff is extremely helpful and takes excellent care of both visitors and residents.

They're also knowledgeable and eager to share interesting facts about the animals.

Whether you're a kid or just a kid at heart, the educational element adds another layer of enjoyment to the experience.

One tip from me, aim for an early visit.

As the day gets warmer, many of the animals prefer to take a nap.

An early stroll ensures the best chance to catch them in action.

And if you're planning a visit to Hersheypark, consider bundling your ticket to include ZooAmerica.

Trust me, it's worth the detour!
