We always pack hats and sunscreen as the sun can be pretty intense.

There's nothing like hearing their laughter echoing through the park while I watch, seated comfortably at one of the picnic tables.

Explore Artistic Passion at Broadway Training Center of Westchester

Have you ever wished for a place where your children could learn, grow, and explore their artistic abilities in a nurturing and supportive environment?

That's precisely what I found at the Broadway Training Center of Westchester.

With classes designed to cater to all levels from K-12, my kids have been fortunate enough to hone their acting, dancing, and singing skills at this remarkable establishment.

I still remember when my youngest, a shy introvert, walked into his first acting class, his face bright with anticipation and a hint of nervousness.

All it took was one summer at BTC, and I saw a remarkable change in him.

He was more confident, his stage fright gradually disappearing, replaced by a love for performing that I had never seen before.

And it wasn't just him.

All my children who attended classes here have returned with a newfound sense of confidence and community.

The ensemble program, in particular, highlights BTC's offerings.

Tailored to provide a conservatory-like learning experience, it immerses students in the world of theater, allowing them to put their skills to the test in high-caliber shows.

As a parent and a resident of Westchester, seeing my children flourish in such a supportive community has been an incredible experience.

Whether your child dreams of a career in theater or wants to have fun while learning new skills, the Broadway Training Center of Westchester is a gem worth discovering.

Visit Hastings Historical Society

It's a Sunday, and the sun shines brightly as I wake up to the promise of another splendid day in Hastings-on-Hudson, a picturesque village in Westchester County, New York.

I make my way down the beautiful streets lined with charming houses, and I can't help but be grateful for the strong sense of community here.

The Hastings Historical Society plays a significant role in preserving that essence.

In the heart of our community, the historical society is the guardian of our shared heritage, keeping the legacy of Hastings alive.

As I walk through the doors, I am always greeted with a warm smile and a wealth of knowledge just waiting to be shared.

The culture and history of our village become tangible in the form of antiques and artifacts displayed at the Hastings Historical Society.

Yet, the society offers more than just relics.

Once a month, only on Sundays, they host a beautiful antiques and crafts fair at the historical society.

It's an event that brings the whole community together with a vibe that makes you feel like you're part of something bigger.

In Hastings-on-Hudson, we become a part of the story, woven together by the threads of our shared heritage.

Enjoy the Weekend at Hastings Farmers Market

There's something utterly refreshing about starting my Saturday mornings at the Hastings Farmers Market, where the community thrives.

When you enter the market, you can sense the vibrant atmosphere that screams 'local' in every nook and corner.

It's the perfect size, with just enough vendors to afford variety without overwhelming you.

You can find top-shelf produce, delectable baked goods, and locally raised proteins that make for a wholesome shopping experience.

The market's variety is its highlight, in my opinion. There is always something for everyone.

This place isn't just about food shopping, though; it's about experiences, too.

I am often amused at how the free samples from the vendors can fill me up even before I start my proper shopping.

This particular delight was introduced to me on one of my regular visits.

To my surprise, they offer different foods and even some gluten-free options!

Moreover, the market is conveniently located near the train station, making it easily accessible for everyone.

The Hastings Farmers Market isn't just a place to shop; it's a fun place to be at.

Sometimes, I like to grab a bite and watch the world go by from one of the available seating areas.

If you're in the area, do check out the market.

It's a small corner of the world where you can truly appreciate the beauty of local living.

I've always been a fan of good Italian cuisine, and when I discovered Divino Cucina Italiana, it was like finding a piece of Italy right in my neck of the woods.

When I got there, I saw the rich culinary experience that awaited me.

I'll admit, I was initially drawn in by their expansive menu that caters to various dietary needs.

Gluten-free? Vegan? They've got you covered.

But the flavor-rich food and the remarkable cocktails had me returning time and again.

Each dish has its unique charm, like the divine Brussels sprouts that blew me away with their deliciousness.

The ambiance, too, adds to the overall charm.

There's something refreshing about enjoying a tasty meal while having a splendid view of the park and the water fountain outside.

It's like being in a serene oasis, away from the hustle and bustle.

Divino Cucina Italiana has been a delightful discovery for me. And their cocktails are simply divine.

From the moment you step into the Hastings-On-Hudson Library, you're greeted by a tranquil ambiance.

This place is a sanctuary of knowledge nestled amidst a breathtaking backdrop of nature.

The scenic views from the expansive windows and the beautifully manicured grounds transport you to a serene, idyllic world.

It's my refuge from the chaos of everyday life.

Every visit to this library is an exploration. The vast collection of books caters to every whim and fancy of a reader.

What I adore about this library is the respect and quietness that permeates the space.

Unlike the libraries in Yonkers, my hometown, where silence is a rare commodity, here you can immerse yourself in reading or studying without any disturbances.

The library also hosts a delightful eatery where you can indulge in a delicious meal.

Indeed, the food is terrific and the views from the eatery are a feast for the eyes.

It's the perfect place to unwind after spending hours lost in books.

Steeped in beauty, tranquility, and warmth, the Hastings-On-Hudson Library is a gem that I cherish and a testament to the power of a good book and a quiet corner.

Get a Taste of Japan at Sakura Garden

One afternoon, I found myself craving the vibrant tastes of Japan in my small town of Hastings on Hudson.

It didn't take long to remember Sakura Garden, a local eatery that always hits the spot.

Sakura Garden offers a Japanese menu that takes you on a culinary trip to the Land of the Rising Sun.

I still recall the night my friends and I decided to try their sushi rolls, bento boxes, and grill dishes.

We were welcomed into a warm and comfortable booth when we stepped in.

A delightful surprise awaited us as we munched on edamame, which was graciously served on the house.

Their rocky shrimp tempura was divine, so much so that I wished for a second helping.

We decided to share the Love Boat for 2 for our main course.

It was an assorted platter of sushi and sashimi, beautifully presented, and came with two salads and soups.

A word of caution: the sushi tends to fall apart quickly, but the taste more than makes up for it.

One of my favorite parts about Sakura is the charming atmosphere.

It's like a small piece of Japan nestled in the heart of Hudson!

Not just the food but the spacious, well-lit seating area and the ambiance genuinely make it a remarkable experience.

Whether you're a local or just passing through, Sakura Garden is a culinary gem worth checking out.

Feel the Magic at the St. Andrews Golf Club

One thing that can instantly soothe my weary soul is the lush, green exclusivity of The St. Andrews Golf Club.

Now, imagine stepping onto the pristine grasses of this historical treasure, swinging your club with the skill of a seasoned player, hearing the satisfying thud of the ball meeting the club, and watching it soar through the clear blue sky.

It's truly a magical encounter every time.

Playing on this course is like reliving a part of Scotland's rich golf history in my backyard.

Every hole provides a unique challenge that tests my skill and patience, especially the fourth hole and the par 3s, which are custom-crafted to give you a run for your money.

The impeccable condition of the course enhances the overall experience, making each game memorable.

Moreover, the palpable sense of community within the club is one of its most endearing qualities.

I'm not exaggerating when I say that every visit feels like being welcomed home.

Beyond the course, the clubhouse is a beautiful sanctuary for members to unwind, socialize, and create lasting memories.

The clubhouse's panoramic views and exceptional amenities make it a perfect place to relax after an invigorating game.

The St. Andrews Golf Club is a journey, a home, and a testament to the enduring charm of the sport.

Indeed, the feeling of playing amidst this historic golf club's splendor is extraordinary.

To borrow from the words of golfing legend Arnold Palmer, "What other people may find in poetry or art museums, I find in the flight of a good drive."

And for me, that flight starts and ends at St. Andrews.

Immerse Yourself in Culture at the Newington Cropsey Foundation

Walking through the enchanted grounds of the Newington Cropsey Foundation, I often find myself amazed by the beauty surrounding me. Depending on the season, the lush greenery adds an ethereal charm to the place that is hard to describe.

It's a haven for art lovers like me, with its splendid artwork display and stunning architecture reflecting New York's vibrant history.

This hidden gem lets you step back in time, granting you a glimpse into the world of Hudson River artists.

Booking these tours can be tricky as they are by appointment only, and the slots fill up quickly.

Therefore, a little planning goes a long way.

If you are a bird lover, you wouldn't want to miss the exquisite exhibition of birds.

Something about the place makes it magical; perhaps it's the sight of the historical homes blending seamlessly with the artistry of the environment.

It's a place that celebrates art, history, and nature in its purest form.

So, if you're like me, with a thirst for art and history, visit this place.

It's an experience that takes you on a journey through time.

Make a Tranquil Escape to Kinnally Cove Park & Kayak Launch

There's magic in the air as the sun sets over the Palisades, and its warm hues create an awe-inspiring sight.

This is a scene I adore, so I find myself drawn to Kinnally Cove Park & Kayak Launch more often than not.

Perched right by the water, this gem of a park is the perfect haven for recreation or relaxation.

Being so close to my house, I have had the chance to visit and explore this park multiple times.

The park unfolds a stunning panorama of the water, the majestic Palisade Cliffs, the Tappanze Bridge, and the New York skyline.

Moreover, the view is so captivating; it’s as if time stands still - especially during sunset. The experience is simply mesmerizing.

What's more, it's not just the views that make this park unique.

Despite being a small beach, it's a fantastic spot for a picnic with friends and family.

Sometimes, I find comfort in its solitude, just grabbing a book to read under the open sky.

A few friendly eateries are also around if you prefer a warm meal over a packed lunch.

But what sets the place apart is its pristine and tranquil ambiance.

The hustle and bustle of the city seem miles away when you're here.

The park is a perfect blend of natural beauty and tranquillity.

So, if you're looking for an escape from the daily grind, take time out for Kinnally Cove Park & Kayak Launch.

We've been met with nothing but smiling faces and playful barks each weekend.

It's like a paradise for dogs and for us.

And I appreciate the convenience of having a bathroom in the park. It’s so well thought out and, honestly, quite relieving!

There are also excellent walking trails that lead to the Old Croton Aqueduct from the park – perfect for a short stroll or perhaps even a longer walk if you're up for it.

Start a Gastronomic Journey at Boro6 Wine Bar

When I wandered into Boro6 Wine Bar, I wasn't sure what to expect.

This place has quickly become my favorite hideaway in the village, offering an exquisite blend of wine, beer, charcuterie, and Italian tapas amidst an elegant marble bar.

If you want to explore it yourself, visit Boro6 Wine Bar.

During lunch hours, there's always a lively crowd absorbed in delightful chatter, enhancing the already vibrant vibe of the venue.

Now, let's talk about the food.

The Farroo salad and sandwiches here are a work of art, visually appealing, and incredibly delicious.

And the story doesn't end here.

The Tuscan Tomato Soup is the perfect comfort food, rich and hearty, the ideal intro to the succulent Braised Beef Shoulder.

And if you're a dessert lover like me, the Chocolate Gelato on Brioche is a must-try—a unique preparation that will leave you craving for more.

The drinks at Boro6 are nothing short of spectacular.

A Basil Cosmo, Gin Martini, or a glass of Chardonnay with a subtle hint of orange all complement the menu perfectly.

But what keeps me coming back is the overall atmosphere.

The combination of delicious food, incredible service, and a warm, welcoming ambiance makes it a place to unwind and savor the finer things in life.

Discover Zinsser Park

My footsteps echo on the well-tread paths of Zinsser Park, a little corner of paradise in our bustling village.

This hidden gem, nestled in our town, is a sanctuary for those seeking peace and tranquility amidst nature.

The park, maintained by the Parks and Recreation Department, is the best-kept secret for quiet walks and rejuvenation.

Every day, I am drawn towards this sanctuary when the sun peeks from behind the clouds.

The soft chirping of the birds, the rustling of the leaves, and the serene atmosphere all pull me in.

Here, in Zinsser Park, time seems to stand still, and it's just me, the park, and the soothing sounds of nature.

Since I became a parent, the park has been a regular part of my children's routine.

The little ones enjoy their time in the quaint play area of the park designed specifically for kids aged 2 to 5.

It's the perfect spot for them to expend that boundless energy, and I have peace of mind knowing they are safe and entertained.

The village we live in might be quiet, but it's vibrant.

I believe the quiet charm and sense of community you experience is worth it.

And with gems like Zinsser Park adding to the allure, there's no place I'd instead call home.

Visit a Summer Haven at Chemka Pool

Having enjoyed countless summers at the Chemka Pool, it's safe to say that it's my favorite place to bask in the summer sun.

The pool is the heart of summer life in Hastings.

With its large size and reasonable prices, a day spent here is well spent.

I love the pool's upgrades after Hurricane Ida, especially the Katie Reidy mural that adds a touch of art to the summer hangout spot.

The community spirit is always vibrant and welcoming here, making it the ideal place to socialize during the warm season.

What makes Chemka Pool special is the host of activities it offers throughout the summer.

From fun pool games to chill-out sessions, there's always something to do.

The food scene is also a delight, with Slices offering various grill and pizza options.

They sell a lot of candy, but it's summer; a little indulgence doesn't hurt!

The adult pool is a treat, especially by August, when it warms up perfectly.

My only wish is for the season to be extended and perhaps for the showers to be cleaner.

Regardless, every visit to Chemka Pool is like a mini-vacation.

It's a great place to hang out, and I'm already looking forward to the next summer season.

Get a Taste of Italy at Harvest on Hudson

Have you ever wished to dine in an Italian farmhouse, savoring the delicacies while overlooking the Hudson River?

If so, you need to be at the Harvest on Hudson in New York.

Perched by the river, the atmosphere of this eatery is nothing short of enchanting.

Sitting here just after sunset, I'm always mesmerized by the landscape.

The twinkling lights, the beautifully maintained gardens, and the stunning view of the Hudson - it's like a scene straight out of a postcard.

You're transported to an old Tuscany home when you step in.

With a blend of traditional and modern decor, the ambiance is romantic, cozy, and high-end.

What stands out for me is their mouth-watering cuisine.

One of my go-to dishes is their Rigatoni - the best I've ever had.

Their Burrata is another delight that never fails to tantalize my taste buds.

And yes, the prices can be a tad high, especially when you ask for add-ons like chicken.

But trust me, it's worth every penny.

Their freshly baked bread is another indulgence I can never resist.

One thing I must mention is their outdoor bar.

They've just built it this year, and I must say, it's turned out quite fantastic.

Sipping a drink there while soaking in the views is a pleasure.

So, next time you're around and craving some authentic Italian food in a charming setting, remember to drop by Harvest on Hudson.

Trust me; you won't regret it.

Spin Vinyls at Clockwork Records

Sometimes, when the hustle and bustle of everyday life becomes too much, I find refuge among the stacks of vinyl at Clockwork Records.

The unique sound of a needle hitting the grooves of a record is a nostalgic reminder of simpler times.

Over the years, I've discovered many gems here that are hard to find anywhere else.

The store is always humming with a diverse playlist of tracks, a testament to their eclectic collection.

Once, I decided to introduce my three-year-old daughter to the magic of vinyl.

I brought her to the store, her small hands clutching mine as we entered the music paradise.

She was a bundle of energy, running around the store, her eyes filled with curiosity at the sight of the records.

Shopping at Clockwork Records is a community for music lovers.

That's precisely what you get when you step into Riverview Park.

Despite its small size, this hidden gem never fails to stun with its sweeping views of the Hudson River.

On a clear day, the panoramic vista is enough to take your breath away.

I often stop by, even for a few minutes, to soak in the tranquility and natural beauty.

Nothing beats the simple pleasure of sitting on the park benches, watching the river flow by.

The park also has Bocce and pickleball courts, perfect for a friendly match with neighbors.

And when the season permits, the serene stone circle becomes my favorite spot for some early morning Yoga, accompanied only by the soft chirping of birds.

Explore the Hidden Gem of Lenoir Preserve

Every town has hidden gems; for me, the 40-acre Lenoir Preserve tucked away in the Hudson Valley is mine.

This serene sanctuary, with its remarkable vistas of the Hudson River, is where I often seek refuge from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Walking along the single trail, less than a mile long, offers a refreshing exercise while enjoying the picturesque surroundings.

The path is quiet and peaceful, especially on weekday afternoons when primarily unoccupied, providing a perfect getaway without leaving the area.

For the curious ones, Lenoir Preserve houses a couple of old mansions.

Although you can't explore their interiors, these are a sight to behold from the outside.

They are reminders of a bygone era, adding to the park's historic charm.

One of my favorite features of the Preserve is the butterfly garden that comes alive in the warmer months.

It's a sight to behold when it's in full bloom and teeming with these colorful creatures. Quite unlike a live painting, with a myriad of vibrant hues fluttering about.

Contrary to some online information, dogs are indeed welcome in the preserve - provided they're leashed.

There are even convenient stations at the entrance equipped with doggy bags.

It's a great place to bring your furry friends for a stroll.

Despite its relatively small size, Lenoir Preserve has an almost sleep-away camp vibe that takes me back to my childhood days in the Catskills.

It's a beautiful place to escape the ordinary, take in a bit of nature, and immerse oneself in tranquility.

Discover the Trails at Sprain Ridge Park

One of the hidden gems in Westchester is Sprain Ridge Park. I've spent countless hours exploring the winding trails on my mountain bike.

The forested paths are a great workout and offer a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

One thing I appreciate about the park is how well-marked and maintained the trails are - there's practically no chance of getting lost.

And it’s not just for mountain bikers; walkers and hikers often frequent the tracks.

It's also a great spot to take your furry friends, as the park is dog-friendly.

But Sprain Ridge Park is not just about the trails.

During summer, I often pack a picnic and head to the park with my family.

Its barbecue areas and picnic spots are perfect for a leisurely meal.

There’s also a kiddie pool where the little ones can cool off and a deeper pool for adults.

The lifeguards on duty are always attentive and readily available to help.

Once, I even witnessed one of them dive into the pool to retrieve a lost earring!

Sprain Ridge Park truly has something for everyone.
