Mi Lindo San Miguel Pupuseria and Restaurant
If you're keen on discovering Salvadorian cuisine, a visit to Mi Lindo San Miguel Pupuseria and Restaurant is a must!
I still remember the first time I bit into their pupusas, the national dish of El Salvador.
The taste was beyond amazing, a delicious mix of cheese, beans, and pork encased in a soft, hand-patted corn tortilla.
What sets this place apart is their homemade cabbage and tomato sauce.
It's the best in town, adding a tangy kick to every mouthful.
The food here is not just authentic; it's made with love, just like at home.
And it's not just the food that's excellent - the service is top-notch as well.
I often take my daughter along when I visit.
And the best part?
The prices are pretty affordable, especially compared to other restaurants in town.
Enzo Bruni La Pizza Gourmet
I couldn't resist but share my incredible gourmet experience at Enzo Bruni La Pizza Gourmet.
This place is a culinary gem hiding in plain sight here in New Jersey.
I still remember the first time I tried their food; I was instantly hooked!
Their pastas are top-notch, especially with porcini mushrooms; it's simply irresistible.
I must warn you, though, their dishes are a tad bit pricier than the usual eateries around here, but every single bite you take makes it worth your buck.
Also, each of their pizza tastes like a piece of Naples served on a platter.
It's really hard for me to pick a favorite because all have their unique, delectable twist.
What's more, the ambiance of the place is absolutely gorgeous.
It's comfortable and inviting, making each visit a unique experience.
Mi Guatemala Restaurant
When the work week gets hectic, my refuge is not a spa or a park; it's a flavor-packed gastronomic journey at Mi Guatemala Restaurant.
The soulful comfort of a well-cooked meal can do wonders, and this place never disappoints.
The papusas, a delightful dish with plenty of flavors going on, are something I can’t resist.
Each bite is a surprise, and each visit introduces me to new reasons to fall in love with Guatemalan cuisine even more.
Their menu is a parade of delicious dishes, making every visit a new culinary adventure.
The huevos rancheros, all varities of burritos, and the tacos camarones are just a few.
I also can't forget the pargo fritto, or fried porgy, that brings a unique taste to the table.
But one dish that always gets me excited is the chile relleno, the undisputed champion of this restaurant.
Plus, their chicken soup is a fantastic choice if you're in need of some comfort food.
La Cocina de Ana
Every once in a while, I stumble upon a hidden gem in the town that transports me back to my childhood kitchen, and La Cocina de Ana is just that.
Whether I indulge in a buttery, flaky empanada or a hearty pupusa, every bite takes me on a trip down memory lane.
It's like walking into my grandmother's house, greeted by the comforting aroma of lovingly home-cooked food.
And let’s not forget the baked goodies, always fresh, always delicious.
And this is exactly what I get each time I order from La Cocina de Ana.
The warmth and friendliness of the place make it not just a restaurant but a home away from home.
West New York Pizza
Every neighborhood has its own local gem - ours happens to be the most mouthwatering pizza joint this side of the Hudson.
I'm talking about West New York Pizza.
From the moment you step foot in this local pizzeria, you're greeted with the warm, inviting aroma of freshly baked pizza dough and melting cheese.
It's easy to see why this place is a favorite among us locals.
The pizza here is top-notch; with the perfect balance of crunchy crust, savory sauce, and melted cheese.
I'm telling you, you won't need extra salt, cheese, or pepper.
Speaking of bites, the 'Grandma's Pizza' is a must-try.
What's not to love about a pizza topped with mushrooms, onion, and your choice of chicken or pepperoni?
Burana Pizzeria Cubana
The memory of a crispy, warm slice of pizza from Burana Pizzeria Cubana still lingers on my taste buds.
Located right in the heart of our Cuban community on Bergenline Street in Bergen, NJ, the Burana Pizzeria Cubana is a delightful haven for food enthusiasts like me.
I remember the first day I walked into Burana Pizzeria.
The scent of fresh dough and the tantalizing aroma of the Cuban-style Pizza was irresistible.
And what sets this pizza apart?
The toppings are mixed into the pizza while cooking, unlike the American style where they are just scattered on top.
A mouth-watering blend of flavors in every bite.
Though there are a few Cuban pizza joints around, Burana Pizzeria Cubana is relatively new and smaller.
But don't be fooled by its size.
The flavor it packs is huge.
And that authenticity speaks volumes in their food.
The food at Burana Pizzeria is not only delicious but also surprisingly affordable.
Imagine getting a whole customized pan pizza for just $6, a massive plate of spaghetti for $5, and fresh scoops of ice cream for just a dollar.
Believe me; it's a feast fit for a king!
I still remember the day I was wandering around the neighborhood, looking for a new place to grab a bite.
What I found was nothing short of a culinary wonderland.
Tucked away in a cozy corner, I stumbled upon a hidden gem - Zoni Restaurant.
I am always in pursuit of fresh, original, and, most importantly, healthy food and Zoni Restaurant exceeds all my expectations.
I was surprised to learn that their dishes are 100% plant-based.
Seeing their beautifully presented dishes made me realize that vegan doesn't mean boring.
The restaurant's vibrant palette of fresh and brightly colored ingredients was a feast for the eyes.
I, along with a few friends, decided to order several dishes and share them.
Among the dishes we ordered were the Palmito Empanado, the ceviche made from the palm of the heart, Curdito Salad, sancocho, and Mofongo.
If you're a fan of hearty meals, the filling sancocho will leave you completely satisfied, while the Mofongo, a dish new to me, packed a punch of bright flavor, standing out as one of my favorites.
Another striking feature of this restaurant was its ambiance.
The cozy space, beautiful tile floor, and pine counters set the mood for a comfortable dining experience.
To top it all off, the service was swift and impressive.
I enjoyed a latte and coffee here, although they also serve mocktails and alcohol for those who want a bit extra.
There's something undeniably comforting about a place that does one thing and does it right.
For me, that's Dos Amigos, a quaint little Cuban joint nestled right in our neighborhood.
Before you even step foot inside, the tantalizing aroma of steak wafts out from the kitchen and beckons you in.
Trust me, their steak sandwiches are an absolutely divine treat!
I usually opt for the large steak sandwich with cheese and onion and believe me; it's a revelation.
You can customize it with ketchup and hot sauce available on every table, and not once have I regretted my choice.
On some days, I also treat myself to their delicious shakes.
If you're wondering about parking, they do have a parking lot upstairs where they validate parking for up to one hour.
Laila Mediterranean Cafe & Grill
One afternoon, I found myself wandering in West New York, craving something homestyle and hearty.
That's when I stumbled upon Laila Mediterranean Cafe & Grill, our local hidden gem.
Tucked away in our very own neighborhood, this compact, casual eatery is a savior when your taste buds yearn for something Mediterranean.
My first encounter with their menu was the Greek salad with beef, a delightfully fresh and filling dish.
The grilled vegetables and meatballs, another dish I’ve tried, were cooked to perfection and bursting with flavors.
I've had the pleasure of revisiting this place, and every time, the service is nothing short of extraordinary – attentive, friendly, and patient, regardless of how crowded the place is.
One dish that particularly stands out is their lamb gyro, a must-try for all meat lovers.
The succulent lamb, coupled with their well-cooked rice, makes for a delicious meal that never fails to satisfy my cravings.
But what's a Mediterranean meal without traditional Turkish coffee?
Brewed to perfection, this coffee is just the right balance of strong and smooth, a perfect end to your meal.
However, the star of the show here is their veggie burger with fries.
Paired with one of their iced teas, this meal had me hooked.
Sabor Y Punto
In the heart of our bustling town, I stumbled upon a hidden gem that has quickly become my go-to spot for Colombian cuisine - Sabor Y Punto.

La Ilusion Cuban Restaurant
Living within a stone's throw from the remarkable La Ilusion Cuban Restaurant, my life has been flavored with the taste of incredible Cuban cuisine.
From the homemade dishes to the exquisitely prepared 'pernil,' the dining experience here is no less than a feast.
Every nibble from their homemade food awakens my senses to an explosion of flavors.
Their portions are generous enough to satiate even the hungriest of souls.
The women who run this place are the embodiment of hospitality, always serving with a smile, and not letting language barriers deter them in any way.
Remember that party I threw last year?
The food from La Ilusion was the main attraction.
My friends still rave about the tender, perfectly cooked pernil and the mouth-wateringly delicious mojito for the yuca.
Let me tell you about the spot for fried fish in town - Ceila's.
It's a cozy, nothing-fancy kind of place, run by a hardworking husband and wife duo.
They serve the best-fried fish you'll ever taste, and it's become my all-time favorite hangout.
I took my friend there for lunch for the first time today, and guess what he said?
He declared Ceila's beans the best in the entire area, no contest.
It's not just about the tantalizing taste of their food.
It's also the place's charm.
Clean, intimate, and utterly inviting, with prices that wouldn't burn a hole in your pocket.
And their flounder!
Oh, their flounder is something else, freshly cooked and out of this world.
I've been eating at Ceila's for the past four years, and let me tell you, I've never once been disappointed.
It's the epitome of home cooking, where every dish is prepared with love and care.
There are days when a craving for authentic Colombian cuisine hits me, and there's no better place to satiate this craving than at Pereira Antojitos.
I am especially fond of their empanadas, both the cheese ones made with flour and the chicken ones that use cornmeal.
There's something about the crunch of the crust and the hearty fillings that transports me straight to the colorful streets of Colombia.
And, if I am lucky to get there when they have just made a fresh batch of pan de bono, it's a delight unto itself.
The hot bread with the cheese oozing out is a gastronomic experience that I cannot resist.
Their selection of beverages is also commendable.vaaaaa
Sometimes, it's the little things that make a big difference.
And sometimes, it's the small, hole-in-the-wall joints in your very own neighborhood that serve up the most amazing food!
This is exactly what I discovered a few days ago when I ventured into Gerardo's Tacos.
From the moment I walked in, I knew I was in for a foodie treat.
The delicious aroma of authentic Mexican cuisine wafted through the air, making my taste buds tingle with anticipation.
And boy, did it deliver!
I decided to taste their special dishes as recommended by fellow locals, and I was not disappointed.
The Pernil - slow-roasted pork shoulder - was truly a standout.
Tender, flavorful, and satisfyingly succulent, it was a joy to eat.
The Bistec Guisado, a hearty beef stew served with rice and beans, was another memorable dish.
It was loaded with gravy, making it a rich and satisfying meal that left me wanting more.
And, let's not forget about their spaghetti and meatballs - a dish that transcended my expectations.
It was, without a doubt, better than any I've had in years.
Their empanadas and chicharron were also exceptional, adding a delightful crunch to the meal.
They also offer an array of desserts to end your meal on a sweet note.
You wouldn't believe the gold mine hiding in the unassuming façade of Bocado Express.

Believe me, her culinary prowess is as comforting as a mother's love.
With a unique setup where the menu changes every day, Bocado Express offers an adventurous dining experience.
It's like a daily treasure hunt where each plate is different from the last.
Picture this: a lunch special that costs just $6, and you receive a heaping plate of food.
One day, you might be savoring a meat stew, the next could be a hearty serving of rice and beans, and the day after, you might be surprised by a delicious fish curry.
You never know what's in store for you!
Despite its humble appearance, the place is as warm and inviting as a home.
When you're inside, it feels like you're in a friend's dining room, waiting for dinner to be served.
"Just when you think you've explored every corner of your neighborhood, a place like Parriyas pops up, and it's like discovering a whole new world in your backyard.
The moment I stepped through the door, I was enamored with the vibrant colors, the eclectic decor, and the buzz of lively chatter in the air.
Every corner of Parriyas had a story to tell, and I was just as thrilled to be a part of it.
My first encounter with their menu was the chicken quesadilla paired with a refreshing homemade lemonade.
A sight to behold, the quesadilla was served in four generous portions.
Despite arriving a little colder than I typically prefer, the flavor was intact, and the portion size was overwhelming.
I ended up packing half of it to relish later at home – a testament to their generous servings.
On another visit, I decided to venture out of my comfort zone and opted for their hamburger with fries.
As a self-proclaimed burger enthusiast, I found Parriyas’ rendition to be a delightful surprise.
The combination of the juicy patty, crispy fries, and exceptional service left me vowing to return.
There's no better way to start your day than with breakfast at Parker.
The ambiance is always a great setting for a perfect morning.
This place knows how to do cozy!
Now, if you're anything like me who loves trying unique beverages, you wouldn't want to miss out on their hibiscus lemonade.
It's the perfect balance of sweet and sour – not overly sugary but just right.
Trust me; it's nothing short of amazing!
And let's not forget about their lattes.
They are a good option to have, perfect to jumpstart your day.
On days when I feel a bit adventurous with my palate, I like to order their jalapeño egg scramble sandwich.
It's a bold flavor that doesn't hesitate to wake up your taste buds.
Moreover, the best part about Parker is the backyard area.
When the weather is warm, it's such a delight to enjoy your food and drinks outside.
I've also found that there's ample street parking nearby, especially if you head there early in the morning.
The Spot Mix Grill
Stepping into The Spot Mix Grill, you're immediately greeted by the rich aroma of grilling meat wafting through a significantly small space.
Despite its limited size, seating approximately 15 patrons quite snugly, the place has a welcoming atmosphere.
The menu, not expansive but certainly unique, leaves room for more options.
Perfectly located and boasting of exceptional service, it's clear why it has its own appeal, especially among students from the nearby school, to whom they offer a special menu.
Their Commissioner Quesadilla earned a commendation from the West New York Forward Team.
When it comes to Latin cuisine, I think I've found my new spot in Delicias Restaurant.
The new management took over on June 4, 2023, and brought a fresh perspective, spicing things up with a variety of Latin American dishes.
It's like embarking on a culinary journey across Latin America right here in our own neighborhood.
From Salvadoran pupusas and beef soup, Mexican tacos and quesadillas, Dominican tres golpes, to Colombian empanadas - this place has it all.
It's quite exciting to see the new look and feel.
One day, on an empty stomach after a long morning at the clinic, I stepped into Delicias for a quick bite.
The tamales were absolutely delicious, a perfect remedy to my hunger pangs.
Being a local, I have always considered myself lucky to live in a place with so many delicious food options.
One that I particularly love is Altagracia's Pupusas.
There's an old saying which goes, "The best food is the one that tastes like home," and for me, Altagracia's food is exactly that.
My regular order?
If you've never tried Pupusas before, let me tell you that Altagracia makes some of the best pupusas around.
It's a simple dish, but the way they prepare them is nothing short of extraordinary.
The melange of flavors encased within the tortilla is a work of art.
They're so good that they're addictive, and you can't help but crave more with every bite.
The place itself is snug and cozy, the size of the restaurant is small, but the ambiance is warm and friendly.
Despite the size, the seating arrangement is comfortable.
You'd be amazed at how well they manage the crowd in such a small place.
This is the kind of place that you'd recommend to anyone, especially those who are in search of good food and a friendly atmosphere.
Las Chalatecas Deli
Every town has a gem, a hidden culinary treasure that outshines the rest.
In our small community, that gem is Las Chalatecas Deli.
Nestled inconspicuously at the heart of our neighborhood, this delightful place serves up authentic Salvadoran food that never fails to impress.

The chicken tamales.
They're more than just food; they're an experience.

La Tinajita Pizzeria Cubana
Remember the first time you bit into a slice of rich, flavorful pizza?
I had the opportunity to relive that experience at La Tinajita Pizzeria Cubana, a local eatery that has sparked quite a discussion among us locals.
Pulling out all the stops to make their pizzas unique, this place is a Cuban twist on traditional pizzerias.
On my visit, I decided to order their pizza with ham.
The authenticity of this Cuban-style pizza was incredible, mirroring the taste of the pizzas from the small towns in Cuba, almost identical to what my family is used to having back home.
The crunch of the crust, and the freshness of the ham, all transported me back to my family's humble kitchen.
Avila’s Taqueria & Restaurant
A craving for authentic Mexican food brought me to an unexpected find - Avila’s Taqueria & Restaurant.
This unassuming spot tucked away in the neighborhood has quickly become my go-to whenever my taste buds long for a Mexican feast.
I still remember that delightful bite into their birria taco on my first visit, and I was hooked.
It was easily the best I've ever had.
Each subsequent visit has been an exciting culinary adventure, with dishes like the vegetarian enchilada and the chicken quesadilla, both bursting with flavors that whisked me back to the bustling streets of Mexico.
The restaurant's charm isn't just about the food.
Every phone call to place a takeout order is greeted with friendliness, making you feel welcomed even before stepping foot in the restaurant.
With fast delivery, reasonable pricing, and scrumptious food, Avila's has cemented its place in our hearts and stomachs.
If you ask me what's my favorite local hangout, I'm bound to say it's Centenario Bistro.
It's here where you can embark on a culinary journey that's as much about discovery as it is about indulgence.
One evening, I decided to try something different and ordered their Tacos Vegetales.
Much to my amazement, it was a delightful combination of cactus and avocado!
It was a unique yet, surprisingly delicious combination.
Not something you'd expect to find in your everyday eatery.
My partner, on the other hand, chose the Ceviche, filled with an odd but intriguing mix of cucumbers and seafood.
It was unusual, but it somehow worked.
The freshness of the vegetables paired well with the seafood, creating a refreshing ensemble that left you craving for more.
If you're in the mood for appetizers or side dishes, their guacamole is top-notch, and the tostones are simply wonderful.
The yellow rice and beans are a hearty accompaniment that you simply can't miss.
Now, if you have a sweet tooth like me, the flan is an absolute must-try.
Smooth, creamy, and just the right amount of sweetness, it's the perfect way to end a meal.
They also serve some fantastic birria tacos.
So good, in fact, that I've visited them three times just for that!
And let's not forget their amazing nachos.
"Who knew that the best sushi in town was tucked away in a compact, unassuming outpost right between Union City and West New York!"
I often find myself exclaiming after each delightful visit to Ginger Grill.
It's not just their Japanese meat entrees or the noodles that have me hooked, either.
The real stars of the show are the sushi & sashimi.
They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but Ginger Grill has indeed taught me to appreciate the complexity of a good sushi roll.
From their spicy tuna to the deluxe version of a spicy salmon roll, they call the Hometown Roll, every offering is a tantalizing fusion of flavors.
