Monique's Kitchen

One place in the city where the food speaks to your soul is none other than Monique's Kitchen.

One step into Monique's Kitchen, and you're instantly captivated by the aroma of authentic soul food.

Always served hot and delicious, every bite of their savory delicacies takes you on a delightful journey.

Monique herself is the cherry on the top, whose hospitality is as warm as the food.

One of my personal favorites – the weekend specials – is something that's worth a try for everyone.

The variety and flavor are sure to make your weekend meal truly special.

Trust me, it's one of those experiences that photos simply cannot capture.

But if we were to talk about a star dish, it's got to be the Mac n Cheese and the Collard greens.

They have this unique element that I can only describe as 'slamming'.

And the best part?

Remember how I said it was a journey?

Well, it's one I've decided to embark upon regularly.

Som Jai Thai Cuisine

When the craving for Thai cuisine hits, there's one place I always find myself drawn to - Som Jai Thai Cuisine.

One of the delightful secrets of our neighborhood, it's a place where aromatic spices and hearty flavors mingle to create dishes that you simply can't resist.

It was a typical busy lunch hour when I first stumbled upon this gem.

The crowd was brisk, a testament to the popularity of the place.

The soup I opted to dine in with was a comfort in a bowl, warm and excellent, a taste I still remember.

But the true star was what I got packed to enjoy at home, the Curry and the Pineapple Fried Rice.

The curry had a robust flavor, perfectly balanced with the sweetness of the pineapple fried rice.

The wait for the food to get packed was a bit, but it was worth every minute.

Being a spice enthusiast, I was pleased to find that their spice level was spot on, no false promises there.

The Pad Thai, along with the spring roll, was a rollercoaster of flavors, enough to give the other Thai places in Warren a run for their money.

What sets Som Jai apart, besides the great food, is their warmth.

Always greeted with a smile, you feel more like a friend than a customer.

Even on a busy Sunday, they manage to keep up the spirits, making you feel at home.

Magic Spice

Ever walked into a place and felt like you've been transported to a whole new world?

That was exactly my feeling the moment I stepped foot into Magic Spice.

The scents of the aromatic Indian spices wafting through the air promised a flavor-packed culinary journey.

My first time at Magic Spice, I was drawn to the Tandoori Pizza.

The perfect fusion of Indian flavors and Italian tradition, each bite was an explosion of zingy spices and perfectly baked crust.

It was a delight to my taste buds and served as an excellent testament to the restaurant's ability to merge traditional tastes with new concepts.

On my next visit, the Spice Club Sandwich had me hooked.

It was a vibrant mix of fresh veggies and bold spices, each bite more satisfying than the last.

The sandwich was just as it was described to me - a flavor-packed delight.

And how can I forget the Peri Peri fries?

They were simply the best I've ever tasted - crispy, spicy, and totally addictive!

I also tried the Pani Puri, Sev Puri, Bombay Grill, Tawa Palov, Momos, and the Rasmalai Cake - every dish was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented.

Petey's Pizzeria

You haven't properly experienced our laid-back city until you've found your perfect slice at Petey's Pizzeria.

I've been living here my entire life, and let me tell you, the hunt for the best pizza is finally over.

You know how every city has that one spot that feels like a hidden gem?

Well, this is ours.

Imagine walking into a place where the people behind the counter know you by name, where they genuinely want to ensure your meal is perfect.

That's what you get when you step into Petey's.

They take it a notch higher by showing you your pizza beforehand, giving you the chance to jazz up your crust even more.

It's these personal touches that have made me a regular here.

Their daily specials and discounts have a way of keeping things exciting.

Yes, that's right, every day, there's a new deal to look forward to.

But what truly sets Petey's apart is the quality of their food.

Their pizza is a dream - not greasy at all, unlike most places around here.

Between you and me, I can easily down three slices without feeling that usual discomfort.

And then there's the garlic bread, the calzones, and oh my goodness, the garlic knots!

Every bite is a culinary delight, trust me on this.

I've heard some folks complain about the delivery time, but let me assure you, it is absolutely worth the wait.

Think of it as more time for anticipation to build.

Plus, when the food arrives, it's always piping hot and fresh.

Motown's Pizza

Have you ever had one of those days where your taste buds are just screaming for a pizza that's out of the ordinary?

I had one of those days recently, and let me tell you about this gem in Warren that I discovered.

Motown's Pizza, where the pizzas are not just delicious but also Halal.

My first taste was their deep dish with chicken, feta, bacon, pepperoni, spinach, and extra sauce.

The toppings were so fresh they tasted like they were just plucked from a garden.

What really stood out, though, was their pizza sauce.

It was so good that I found myself savoring every bite.

Now, I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical when I saw they offered a cheese with 1 topping special and deluxe pizzas, but I decided to give it a try.

The deep dish was my choice, and boy, was it a delight.

Though, next time, I might ask for lighter butter on the crust as it was a tad too oily for my liking.

I also tried their stuffed pizza, but I wasn't completely sold on it.

It was a little on the dry side, and the meats didn't seem to be cooked to the level I prefer.

But hey, to each their own!

One thing that did surprise me was their specialty pizzas.

The veggie/All Green, BBQ chicken pizza, and all cheese pizza were all incredible, and let's not forget the barbecue chicken.

Every bite was a gastronomic delight.

"Hidden gem" is an apt description for The Chocolate Gallery Cafe.

When you step into the quaint, cozy interior, it's almost like entering a delightful little world of its own.

With only eight tables, you might need to arrive early to secure a spot, but it's well worth it.

One of their standout dishes for me has always been the Monte Cristo sandwich.

It's perfectly balanced, crispy toast sandwiching succulent ham and gooey cheese.

It's a flavor explosion that leaves you craving for more!

But the real star here is, believe it or not, their coleslaw.

They've put a delightful twist on it by adding dill, which gives it an extra boost of flavor.

It's so good that I wouldn't mind coming back just for that coleslaw.

Their Kielbasa omelet is another must-try.

Made to perfection, it's more like a pie, filled with juicy Kielbasa and topped with melting cheese.

Their seasoned potatoes and bread are the perfect complement to the omelet.

The menu may be small, but they have made every dish into a masterpiece.

The food is good, but the wonderful service from Peggy and Jason makes it even better.

Peggy's upbeat attitude and welcoming spirit always make me feel at home, and Jason's magic in the kitchen never fails to impress.

They also offer a range of delectable desserts, but I've never managed to save room for them.

Maybe next time.

After all, there's always a next time with The Chocolate Gallery Cafe.

Middle Eats

In the heart of our lovely city, nestled among bustling shops and cafes, lies an exquisite gem known as Middle Eats.

My first walk into Middle Eats was like stepping into an oasis of rich flavors and tantalizing aromas.

The vibrancy and authenticity of Middle Eastern cuisine pulsate through every inch of the menu.

I was floored by their smoothies, especially the strawberry banana.

With a burst of refreshing sweetness, it felt less like a drink and more like a dessert, a treat that you absolutely must try.

Their fries deserve a special mention - seasoned to perfection and delightfully crispy, they were the ideal companion to the star of my meal, the bowls.

The shrimp bowl, hot, fresh, and delicious, left me relishing every bite.

Each shrimp was cooked to perfection, making it one of my favorite dishes.

I also decided to venture into the world of Shawarma with their Chicken Shawarma bowl.

The taste was astounding.

The perfectly seasoned chicken, coupled with hearty portions, made it an unforgettable experience.

My partner and I savored every morsel, agreeing that Middle Eats was our new go-to spot.

The prices were reasonable, the portions generous, and the taste – simply fantastic!

Ale & Eddie's TapHouse

Whether you're in the mood for a quick bite or fancy a grand feast, Ale & Eddie's TapHouse is the place to be.

It's not just a restaurant; it's a gastronomical adventure right in the heart of our community.

The first time I visited, I was instantly drawn to their dinner special - a hearty meal of crab-stuffed salmon served with asparagus and rice.

It was a delightful blend of flavors, the succulent salmon perfectly accentuated by the rich crab stuffing.

My partner, a devout chicken wing enthusiast, couldn't resist trying their naked wings with buffalo and barbecue sauce.

The wings were crispy, and the sauces were a pleasing contrast - one tangy and spicy, the other sweet and smoky.

Their Bavarian pretzels were a pleasant surprise.

Served with cheese sauce and a honey mustard dip, they were more like poppyseed and sesame-crusted breadsticks than traditional pretzels.

They were incredibly filling, prompting us to save some for a savory snack later at home.

Ale & Eddie's TapHouse isn't just about fantastic food, though the drinks menu is every bit as enticing.

I opted for a Bloody Mary, beautifully crafted with a salted rim, the perfect accompaniment to our fascinating feast.

This place isn't just about the food and drinks - it's the ambiance that makes it a complete package.

With its ample room inside, it offers a casual yet cozy atmosphere, perfect for work lunches or a laid-back dinner with friends and family.

And if you're a pizza lover like me, you'll be delighted to know that their pizza is nothing short of fabulous.

You can't leave the place without trying their epic nachos and the walleye cooked to perfection.

Their zip sauce, I must say, is the best I’ve ever had.

Their Tennessee hot chicken and Mac with a subtle dry heat is also worth a try.

Taco Kings

You know what they say, "The way to a person's heart is through their stomach!"

This statement couldn't be more true after my experience at Taco Kings.

Just when I thought I knew all the best local spots, I stumbled upon this hidden gem.

She was more than willing to answer all my questions, which made me feel right at home.

The restaurant itself is small but cozy, with about five tables that can accommodate up to seven people each.

But let's talk about the food.

I opted for the TK Tacos dinner, served with my choice of two sides.

I picked rice and refried beans, topped with cheese, and let me tell you, it was sumptuous!

Each bite was a burst of flavor that left me craving for more.

And if you're a sauce enthusiast like me, you'll be thrilled with their variety of hot sauces.

I guarantee you'll find something to tickle your taste buds.

I couldn't help but notice the restaurant was pretty quiet for a Saturday night.

Plus, they're newcomers in the city, so they deserve all the support they can get.

You can find them just West of Hoover, on the South side of 12 Mile Rd, nestled next to a Thai Food restaurant.

Kabob n Curry

Ever had one of those days where you're hit with a strong craving for authentic Bangladeshi food?

I have, and let me tell you, there's no other place that satisfies that craving like Bismillah Kabob n Curry.

It's a must-visit spot if you're seeking mouth-watering Bangladeshi cuisine right here in our city.

From the moment you step inside Bismillah Kabob n Curry, you're greeted with a friendly smile and an inviting aroma that takes you straight to the heart of Bangladesh.

The food here has an authentic taste that is hard to beat, and the prices are so reasonable you'd be hard-pressed to find a better deal elsewhere.

I usually avoid busy places, but for this gem, I make an exception.

On my recent visit, I ventured out of my comfort zone and tried their tilapia curry, beef vindalo, mixed vegetables, and chicken shwarma.

Every mouthful was a celebration of flavors, with the perfect balance of spices that took me on a culinary journey.

Of course, no meal is complete without a dessert, so I indulged myself in their delicious jilapi.

And while I savored every bite of the chicken shwarma, it did remind me more of Indian cuisine.

However, that's not necessarily a bad thing!

One thing I wish they would incorporate in their menu is more fish curries like rui fish and more vorta-type food.

But even without these, the selection is quite diverse, promising to cater to a variety of taste buds.

Bros Burger

There's a certain charm about having a great burger joint right around the corner, and Bros Burger has quickly become my go-to spot for a hearty, meaty indulgence.

I remember walking in for the first time, pleasantly surprised to find a halal burger option.

My first order was a mix of several different burgers, each promising a unique flavor profile.

And boy, did they deliver!

The burgers were spicy and flavorful, a delightful surprise that left me craving more.

But it didn't stop there.

Bros Burger also serves different flavors of kulfi, a sweet treat that perfectly complements the savory burgers.

The place quickly became a regular part of my diet, and I found myself visiting again and again.

On one visit, I decided to try the $7.99 Cheeseburger lunch combo.

This comes with French fries and a drink - a complete meal that leaves you feeling satisfied for hours.

The burger and fries were delicious, proving once again that Bros Burger knows how to make a tantalizing meal.

Anthony's Pizzeria Warren

There's something about a family-owned pizzeria that just screams 'home' to me. Anthony's Pizzeria Warren is exactly that place for me.

From my first bite of their sample slice at the tender age of 13, I knew this place was special.

It's a cornerstone of our local Warren neighborhood.

You might have to wait a bit for your pizza but trust me, it's worth it.

I once waited around 45 minutes for a large square deep-dish veggie pizza with anchovies, well-done with a side of ranch - a combination that might not be everybody's cup of tea, but it's absolutely divine to me.

The smell of the pizza lingered in my car for days, serving as a delicious reminder of the meal.

The pizza, although a bit too moist for my liking, had an amazingly crispy crust that I savored with every bite.

And the anchovies - oh, the anchovies!

Bursting with flavors that are hard to find elsewhere, they've made me an anchovy-on-pizza enthusiast.

If you're more of a Chicago-Style pizza person, you're in for a treat.

Anthony's Pizzeria Warren is one of the few places in the area that serve up this style of pizza, and boy, do they do it well.

The round and square pizzas also offer a mouth-watering experience, with a slightly sweet sauce that complements the yummy crust and good quality cheese perfectly.

Plus, the service is always friendly, and the prices are very reasonable.

Detroit Seafood Spot Bar & Grill

Ever find yourself in a constant hunt for the perfect place that serves the best wings?

Well, let me let you in on a little secret - the best wings I've ever had were at the Detroit Seafood Spot Bar & Grill.

They tasted like a proper outdoor BBQ but were served indoors within a quaint, cozy atmosphere.

And let's not forget about the side dishes - the broccoli and mac were just as heavenly!

It's safe to say that I've found my favorite spot, and I can't wait to make countless memories here.

Now allow me to share another story.

During this pandemic, we've been wary of eating out too often, but one day we decided to give Detroit Seafood Spot a try.

And guess what?

We absolutely LOVED IT.

We ordered the seafood boil and the lamb baked potato - divine!

Just when you think you've tried everything, the Detroit Seafood Spot dishes out another surprise.

Have you ever heard of the 'Everything But The Kitchen Sink Boil'?

Well, I hadn't either until I found a groupon for it.

This feast could easily serve more than five people!

We were a group of six and still had leftovers.

And the service?

Exemplary as always - even when I showed up with my sleeping son in my arms, someone was kind enough to carry the food to my car and even gave us gloves to eat with.

Betty Jane's Bar & Grill

"I've found my new favorite hangout spot!" I thought to myself after an unforgettable evening at Betty Jane's Bar & Grill.

Nestled snugly in my neighborhood, this place has quickly become a staple in my social calendar.

From the moment you step into Betty Jane's, you're greeted with a warm, friendly atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home.

I remember the first time I visited the place - it was a Monday evening, a friend's birthday.

We decided to take advantage of their free pool offer, and my word, it was a blast!

The pool tables were occupied all night, and I believe they could benefit from a wait list system to ensure everyone gets a fair go.

However, we found solace in their abundant arcade games, injecting a playful energy into our night.

The food at Betty Jane's is a triumph in its own right.

Their menu offers a diverse range of flavors to suit any palate - everything we ordered was outright delicious.

The drinks?

Stellar!

Their craft cocktails, in particular, were a hit amongst everyone.

And when the bill came, we were pleasantly surprised by their affordable prices.

However, the star of the show was the service.

They took care of us with such professionalism and enthusiasm I felt like a VIP.

Cozy Grill Cafe

Ah, the Cozy Grill Cafe, a spot that's been my go-to for comfort eats for as long as I can remember.

This local diner, nestled in our community, usually serves up dishes that are a delight to the taste buds.

However, my recent experience was a bit of a letdown.

On a quiet Monday, I popped in for some takeout.

I was surprised to find that the bacon I received looked more like beef jerky, presumably because it had been pre-cooked.

My sausages, too, left something to be desired, with a texture that suggested they had been reheated on the grill in water.

The toast that came with my order was, unfortunately, stale.

It was quite a disappointment, especially when you're expecting a fresh, delicious breakfast for your 10 bucks.

Despite this, I still believe in the Cozy Grill Cafe's potential.

I've had plenty of good meals there, most of them so filling that I've had to ask for a box to take the leftovers home.

Once, my daughter-in-law joined me, thoroughly enjoying her meal until she found a hair in her eggs.

That incident, though unpleasant, is not a regular occurrence at the Cozy Grill Cafe.

The place has a certain charm that keeps drawing me back in.

I've been frequenting the Cozy Grill Cafe for years, and their food never usually disappoints.

Plus, they have a knack for remembering their customers, making you feel incredibly welcome every time you dine with them.

The warmth extends beyond their food; it's in their service, too.

It's got the taste of home, the kind of comfort food that makes you feel all warm and cozy inside.

Nestled in the heart of Warren, this easygoing diner has been a staple in my life for as long as I can remember.

A trip down to Theo's is more than a meal, it's a trip down memory lane.

The menu is vast with a satisfying blend of American, Italian, and Greek dishes.

Over the years, my taste buds have done a world tour right here in this cozy diner!

From the succulent gyros to the hearty American classics, the food here is always satisfying and affordable.

I must admit that I'm quite partial to their senior specials, a lovely touch that echoes the warm, welcoming ethos of this family-run establishment.

I have such fond memories of the original 70s diner look, but I must admit that post-renovation, the place looks even better.

Yet, somehow, it hasn’t lost its old-world charm.

The atmosphere still retains a comforting sense of familiarity, like a well-loved vinyl record from the 70s with its catchy grooves and soulful melodies.

Eating at Theo’s isn’t just about the food, it's about the memories, the nostalgia, and the sense of comfort that envelopes you as soon as you step through the door.

Whether I'm taking a break from the local credit union or just looking for a spot for lunch with my mom, Theo's remains my go-to spot.

Aladdin Castle Mediterranean Cuisine

"Dining at Aladdin Castle Mediterranean Cuisine isn't just a meal; it's a culinary adventure."

That's exactly what I felt the first time I set foot in this authentic Mediterranean restaurant located right in our neighborhood.

The food here is nothing short of spectacular, with a variety of dishes that transport your taste buds straight to the Mediterranean.

The first time I visited, I decided to brave it with a group of friends and ordered a platter meant for 4-6 people.

We discovered that the portion sizes are not just generous but also a feast for the eyes.

The restaurant wasn't busy that Tuesday night, which meant we received excellent and speedy service.

Unfortunately, no picture can do justice to the sheer size and beauty of these platters.

Everything on the menu is a gastronomic delight.

The kabobs are succulent, and the rice, oh the rice, is to die for.

The garlic sauce that accompanies many dishes adds an extra dimension of flavor that is simply hard to resist.

The bread is another highlight of the menu.

It's so addictive you just can't help but reach out for more.

What makes the food at Aladdin Castle truly stand out is the freshness of the ingredients.

You can taste it in every bite, and it brings the flavors to life.

The restaurant itself is spacious enough to host gatherings or parties.

They also offer tray selections for take-out, perfect for your home events.

One of my absolute favorites is the chicken pita wrap I had for lunch one day.

The wrap was so fresh and flavorful, it was undoubtedly the best I've ever had.

I loved it so much that I returned the same evening for dinner and ordered the chicken tikka plate.

The bread and garlic whip were so fresh, and the plate was simply delightful.

It included a variety of sides, and the portions were filling.

The chicken and rice were delicious, and the sweet potato side was a revelation.

Bora Bora's Bar & Grill

After a tiring day, nothing beats a casual evening with friends at Bora Bora's Bar & Grill.

You've got it all - chilled drinks, lively conversations, and the exciting sports match blaring from the numerous TVs scattered around the place.

What's more, the back room hides an exciting collection of games, including a pinball machine, darts, a pool table, and a video game machine.

This place always impresses me with its cleanliness, from the well-kept bathrooms to the polished bar counters.

I've even spotted a high-ranking member from the Pistons organization casually hanging out here.

If that doesn't tell you about the vibe of this place, I don't know what will!

Every dish I've tried here is delicious but the burger, oh the burger!

It's the best I've had in ages, and those fried mushrooms, they are to die for.

I remember one Wednesday evening, we decided to try their pizza on a whim.

I kid you not, it was divine.

To top it off, we stumbled into their trivia night.

The fun-filled evening we had is something I'll always remember.

Antonio's Coney Island Restaurant

"Give a place a second chance," they say, and that's exactly what I did with Antonio's Coney Island Restaurant.

An old-school diner that serves a wide selection of global comfort meals?

I thought there must be something good here.

I ordered the stuffed peppers this time, and, to my surprise, they were delicious.

Everything tasted homemade and comforting.

The service was splendid too.

Not only did I relish my meal, but also found joy in supporting this family-run establishment.

Dan's Diner

Have you ever walked into a place and immediately felt like you were home?

That's how I feel every time I step foot in Dan's Diner.

This small-town diner is more than just a restaurant; it's a community hub where everyone knows your name, and the service comes with a smile.

What makes Dan's Diner stand out is their commitment to getting things right.

From the moment you place an order, you can rest easy knowing that it's going to be exactly what you asked for.

Whether you're picking up dinner for the family or ordering for a large party, they've never messed up my orders.

In a world where this level of accuracy is becoming rarer, it's comforting to know that I can rely on Dan's.

But what's a good diner without great food?

The meals here are always top-notch, with generous portions and a delicious homestyle taste that's hard to beat.

It's the kind of food that warms your soul and leaves you feeling satisfied.

And the best part?

The prices won't leave your wallet feeling light.

Amarin Thai Cuisine

Have you ever convinced someone to step out of their comfort zone?

Well, I accomplished that feat one evening when I took my 90-year-old father to Amarin Thai Cuisine, a Thai restaurant near our home.

It was his first experience with Thai food, and let me tell you, it wasn't an easy task to bring him there.

But it was worth it.

As we stepped into the restaurant, the welcoming ambiance of the place instantly put us at ease.

The interiors were bright and woody, setting up a cozy atmosphere.

A delightful lady named Ghen greeted us and led us to our chosen seats.

This was a refreshing change from the usually crowded places where seats are pre-assigned.

The menu was a spread of traditional Thai dishes.

My dad settled for Chicken with Fried Rice, while I opted for Sweet and Sour Chicken with broccoli sans the green onions.

The food arrived promptly, looking as delicious as I had hoped, and tasted even better.

The flavors were a bit different from what I was used to at other Thai restaurants, but that only added to the charm of the place.

The restaurant is also very accommodating, with comfortable booths and tables and wheelchair-friendly arrangements, making it accessible for everyone.

They even have on-site bathrooms and handicapped parking.

If you're in a hurry, they offer a carry-out service too.

In the middle of the week, I've seen numerous GM personal dining there, which tells you a lot about its popularity.

La Coney Island Restaurant

La Coney Island Restaurant is a staple in our community, and from the moment I first stepped foot inside, I knew I'd found something special.

Their chicken pita is a thing of beauty.

The blend of hearty and delicious flavors is just right.

And let's not forget the ranch dressing, perfectly thin, just the way I prefer it.

I’m planning on coming back soon for breakfast.

If the quality of their pita is anything to go by, I'm eager to sink my teeth into a plate of their morning offerings.

La Coney Island Restaurant isn’t just about wonderful food, though.

They know how to make everyone feel welcome, from the newbies like me to the many regulars who count this as their favorite spot.

Speaking of favorites, my kids absolutely adore this place!

The portions are generous, and the affordable prices mean we can enjoy a family meal without breaking the bank.
