KDzzz Barbeque & Smokehouse

I have had my fair share of BBQ places.

But let me tell you, nothing hits the spot quite like KDzzz Barbeque & Smokehouse.

Their BBQ is the stuff of legends around here.

It's smoked to perfection, low and slow just like traditional Southern BBQ should be.

You can taste the smoky flavor in every bite, so good that you won't even need to dip it in the sauce.

What sets KDzzz apart from the rest are their unforgettable sides.

Trust me when I say this, their potato salad is a game changer.

I've never tasted something so delicious.

I often find myself heading there on a Saturday morning for their breakfast menu too.

And if you're in a rush, you can just call ahead and have it ready to pick up when you get there.

It's a hidden gem in the Deep South that you don't want to miss.

La Taqueria Mexican Grill

Oh, how I love the California burritos at La Taqueria Mexican Grill!

As a frequent visitor, I have always been impressed with their speedy service and great prices.

The food always arrives hot, fresh, and full of amazing flavors.

I particularly enjoy the crunch chicken tacos, where they use grilled chicken breast instead of the typical shredded chicken.

It's a delightful surprise!

The place can get quite busy during lunchtime, and sometimes the line gets a tad long.

But that's only because people, including myself, think the food is totally worth the wait.

It's a testament to their delightful offering.

One thing I love about this place is its proximity to Moody AFB.

The service is unbeatable, especially near the airbase.

It makes it a convenient spot for quick bites or casual meet-ups.

Stone Creek Restaurant & Grill

I can't even begin to tell you about the numerous leisurely afternoons I've spent at Stone Creek Restaurant & Grill.

The ambiance of the place is just breathtakingly relaxing.

I can't help but admire the commitment they have towards maintaining the golf course.

It always looks splendid, with the greens needing a bit more speed.

And let's not even get started on the bunkers, they look really good.

But the one thing that has made me a regular is the food.

The Tuesday lunch buffet is something you don't want to miss.

It has this fried chicken that is just delightful.

I can confidently say it's as good as you will get anywhere.

The food services are always on point and timely.

And oh, the people!

I've spent many a great afternoon catching up with friends at Stone Creek.

Rico's Tacos

You don't really get to know a city until you've sampled its local cuisine.

Living here, I've had the chance to try many eateries, and Rico's Tacos always stands out.

If you're ever passing through, Rico's Tacos is a must-visit.

I remember the first time I visited Rico's.

It was after a long day, and I was looking for a quick dinner option that wasn’t just another fast food joint.

I stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant, hidden away but well worth the find.

The service was quick, and the food was just right; it leaves you pleasantly satisfied without feeling overstuffed.

Their menu is diverse, with something to appease everyone.

The carne asada nachos are a personal favorite.

The crunch of the nachos and the flavor of the carne asada are a match made in heaven.

And don't even get me started on their Texas Rice.

Fluffy, flavorful, and the perfect accompaniment to any of their dishes.

I've also tried their tofu tacos and the birria burrito - both simply delightful.

To top it all off, they serve a queso dip and salsa that are simply to die for.

What I love the most is the option to take your meal outside.

After being cooped up indoors all day, it's nice to have the option to stretch your legs and enjoy your meal in the open air.

Or if you're in a rush, their drive-thru service is super efficient.

Surcheros Fresh Mex

I was on the hunt for a new place to eat in the city that offered vegetarian options and stumbled upon Surcheros Fresh Mex.

The moment I stepped inside, I was welcomed by the unique decor.

It reminded me of Chipotle and Moe's, but with a distinctive twist.

As I made my order, I was impressed by the freshness and quality of the food.

It's clear that the ingredients are carefully selected and prepared.

I don't mind a little detour from my usual route for a tasty, wholesome meal, and Surcheros Fresh Mex definitely ticks all those boxes.

I decided to try out one of their desserts, the s'more quesadilla.

It was a bit too rich in chocolate for my taste, overpowering the other flavors.

If you're a chocolate lover, it might be right up your alley, but I think I'll stick to their main dishes next time.

The place had an overall welcoming atmosphere that made my dining experience even more enjoyable.

In terms of pricing, Surcheros Fresh Mex is quite fair.

They offer a variety of topping options for their meals, giving you the freedom to customize to your liking.

Friends Grille and Bar

It was a typical Friday night.

The city was alive with chatter and the blare of car horns, and I decided to indulge in some comfort food at Friends Grille and Bar.

The moment I stepped in, I was welcomed with a warm, friendly smile and quickly guided to my table.

I decided to start with one of their appetizers, and to my surprise, it arrived quickly, despite the buzzing crowd.

The star of my meal, however, was the red Argentinian shrimp, a dish that really hit the spot.

It had that perfect blend of warmth and spice that wakes up your palate and leaves you craving more.

One of my friends opted for the New Zealand lamb.

He couldn't stop raving about it, declaring it a must-try for meat lovers.

The only thing that could've made it better was a live band and a few cozy table lamps for a more intimate feel.

Another day, I decided to try their weekend brunch, this time with my family.

Our experience was just as delightful.

But the real highlight of the brunch was the sweet potato biscuits.

Those biscuits were a revelation of flavors and textures, sweet, rich, and tender.

Jacks Chophouse

One day while running errands in the city, I decided to stop in for lunch at Jacks Chophouse.

Since I was alone, I chose to sit in the bar area.

The menu had a lot to offer, but I was craving for some red meat, so I opted for the beef tips with mashed potatoes.

The dish arrived promptly, and it was cooked perfectly to my liking.

The portion was also respectable for a lunch meal.

I'd definitely recommend this dish to anyone looking for a hearty and satisfying meal.

On another occasion, I decided to try the 'Lunch To Go' option – a 6 oz NY strip with mashed potatoes and asparagus, along with a side salad and tea.

The steak was well-cooked, and the mashed potatoes were absolutely delicious.

This restaurant really knows how to do potatoes right!

On my third visit, I got a bit adventurous and ordered the fried pickles and green tomatoes, served with a guada grit cake and an orange sauce.

It was a delightful mix of flavors that left me wanting more.

The guada grit cake, particularly, was a real treat.

I've also tried the fried shrimp dinner and the beef tips dinner.

Just off I-75, tucked into the heartland of Valdosta, is where my all-time favorite barbecue joint exists - Woodstack.

The moment you step foot inside this low-key establishment, you are welcomed with the intoxicating aroma of smoked meats.

This is a place that never disappoints me, whether I'm stopping by for a quick lunch or for their fabulous happy hour.

One of my personal favorites is their pulled chicken nachos, which always hit the spot.

A word of advice though, if you ever find yourself here, you must try the chopped brisket dip.

Trust me, the generous serving of tender, flavorful meat paired with melted cheese & mushrooms on a bun is an indulgence you wouldn't want to miss.

The baked beans side is a surprise delight, too, not overly sweet and generously filled with chunks of meat.

For the chicken lovers out there, their half-baked chicken is a must-try.

It's the juiciest chicken you'll ever taste, infused with a lovely smoked flavor that dances on your taste buds.

The fried whole okra side is another winner, perfectly crunchy on the outside and not at all slimy.

Another dish that I've grown fond of is the beast sandwich.

It's a powerhouse of flavors, especially when you pair it with loaded tater tots and pulled pork.

If you're feeling adventurous, I highly recommend trying the Brunswick stew.

It's a hearty bowl filled with Lima beans, pulled pork, chicken, and veggies, delivering a comforting warmth with every spoonful.

Taqueria El Hidalguense

Having grown up in this city, I've eaten at plenty of Mexican restaurants.

But none of them hold a candle to Taqueria El Hidalguense.

The first time I walked into this hidden gem, I knew I had struck gold.

The tantalizing aroma of authentic Mexican food drew me in, and after the first bite, I was hooked.

This place is the real deal, serving up the best Mexican food I've ever tasted.

Their handmade corn tortillas are a game-changer, and the freshness of their ingredients is evident in every bite.

Whether it's the chunky homemade guacamole or the tender, flavorful chicken and steak tacos, every dish is a culinary masterpiece.

The prices are affordable, too, making it a favorite spot to grab a meal without breaking the bank.

Trying their tacos is like taking a trip down memory lane – they taste strikingly similar to my Great-Grandma Virginia's homemade tortillas.

It's not just the tacos, the Sopes are mouthwateringly delicious as well.

The heart and soul put into the cooking here is a testament to the hospitality that people from Hidalgo are known for.

Blaze Pizza

I stumbled across Blaze Pizza on North Oak Street Extension quite by accident, but I was immediately intrigued by its hip, counter-serve setup.

I wasn't disappointed as I bit into my crispy, thin-crust pizza.

The best part?

I got to choose from a variety of creative toppings and sauces, something you don't often find at other pizza places.

One evening, I decided to build my own pizza and pair it with a Caesar salad.

I was pleasantly surprised by the portions and the affordability.

I particularly loved that I had the freedom to mix the cheeses and sauces, which added an extra layer of flavor to my pizza.

On another visit, I was struck by how fresh the sauce tasted.

It was different, in a good way.

I realized that when you're used to sub-par pizza, a truly hot and fresh pie can be a bit of a shock to the system.

It's a great place to bring your family or even for a date night!

Great Wall Restaurant

On a typical lazy weekend, I decided to grab a takeout from the Great Wall Restaurant.

Tucked away in a Spartan strip mall, the eatery seemed like a run-of-the-mill Chinese joint.

Upon ordering, I found the menu to be quite standard, filled with Chinese stir-fries, noodles, teriyaki, and the like.

Hoping for a decent meal, I ordered a mix of dishes from their menu.

The General Tso's Chicken was amazing.

It has a tantalizing blend of sweet, salty, and spicy.

The Spring rolls were also fantastic!

El Toreo Mexican Restaurant

One day, I decided to revisit a place from my past – El Toreo Mexican Restaurant.

It had been years since my last visit, and since I was in the mood for some traditional Mexican delicacies, I thought, why not?

I found myself meandering down 75 and decided to stop by.

The place was just as festive as I remembered, luring me in with its promise of authentic Mexican dishes like fajitas, tacos, and tamales.

I settled at the bar to avoid any waiting time.

I opted for chicken enchiladas, and they did not disappoint.

The food was as good as I remembered, maybe even better.

Chow Town Grill & Buffet

Let me tell you about a place I frequently visit - the Chow Town Grill & Buffet.

Their website boasts of a range of eclectic offerings, but being there in person is a different experience altogether.

I'm a big fan of their sushi.

It's always so fresh that you can almost taste the sea.

And then there's the grill, where you can assemble your own plate of ingredients and watch them skillfully turning them into a delicious meal right before your eyes.

And did I mention the seafood?

If oysters and crab legs are your thing, you're in for a treat.

B.B.Q & Soul Pit

Let me take you on a culinary journey to one of my favorite places in the city- the B.B.Q & Soul Pit.

It's a hidden gem that offers the best BBQ and soul food in the city.

Weekends for me are incomplete without a visit to B.B.Q & Soul Pit.

The moment you step into the restaurant, the smoky aroma of barbecued meat wafts through the air, enticing your taste buds.

The menu is a delight for any food lover - ribs slathered in a tangy sauce, juicy brisket, melt-in-your-mouth pulled pork, and the classic mac 'n' cheese.

The soul food here is the embodiment of comfort and nostalgia.

What sets the B.B.Q & Soul Pit apart is the love and attention given to each dish.

The meats are slow-cooked to perfection, resulting in flavors that are deeply ingrained in every bite.

The sides are as good as the main dishes – collard greens, cornbread, and baked beans, all done with a Southern twist that leaves you craving for more.

The ambiance of the place is warm and welcoming.

Big Nick's

Ah, the joy of living near Big Nick's!

Trust me, nothing beats the southern hospitality, comfort food, and warm ambiance that this place offers.

Whenever I crave some soul food or BBQ, I head straight to this upbeat eatery.

I've been dining in and out of Big Nick's for years now, and it never ceases to impress me with its mouthwatering dishes.

My favorite is their smoked meats, I swear it's the best around the city.

I mean, the place, the service, and the scenery— it's truly one of a kind.

Not to forget about their mouth-watering side dishes.

The chicken wings, oh boy, they are just heavenly!

And the desserts, they are to live and die for.

But if you ever visit, do try the dirty turkey, it's one of the best things on the menu.

I know a number of folks who would vouch for that, including my partner.

We eat here whenever we get the chance, and it's always a delight.

Trust me, the sweet potatoes and chicken wings are simply out of this world!
