It's the perfect gateway to explore the famous Stone Mountain Park.

One of the Park's highlights that I always admire is the Confederate Memorial Carving, which features Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, and Jefferson Davis.

On a sunny day, I can even see the massive rock structure from Atlanta, Georgia.

But there's more to my city than just its picturesque and fantastic downtown.

We also have a great variety of places to eat and have fun.

So, let me share with you the 15 best restaurants in Stone Mountain, Georgia, that I love to visit.

Jonathan Hartnett, a restaurateur and Stone Mountain resident, founded the restaurant in 2021.

I went there on a Monday night, which is steak night, and tried their specialty cuts like smoked prime rib and hand-peeled hanger.

Sweet Basil Asian Kitchen

As a Stone Mountain resident, I can confidently say that Sweet Basil Asian Kitchen's excellent location and competitive rates make it an obvious choice in the area.

I recently visited them at Rockbridge Rd SW #210, Stone Mountain, Georgia, and enjoyed the welcoming environment and top-notch service they provided.

The restaurant's fresh ingredients create a wide range of delicious flavors.

I began my meal with a side of Thai house salad, which came with lettuce, cucumber, and tomato, and I chose the Thai chili dressing.

Then, I indulged in some of their most famous Pad Thai with rice noodles, eggs, bean sprouts, scallions, crushed peanuts, and a sweet tamarind sauce.

I also tried the cashew nut chicken, general Tso's chicken, and Thai fried rice with shrimp, which were all must-orders.

I was particularly impressed with the generous portions for their lunch specials as takeout. I shared three entrees with my friends, and we had plenty of leftovers.

Sweet Basil Asian Kitchen also provides a wide variety of gluten-free and vegetarian dishes.

I ordered a delivery once, and the vegetable potstickers were steamed, not pan-fried.

They were still tasty, but I would recommend specifying your preference when ordering.

Everything was received nice and hot, and I loved the portion size.

Another noticeable aspect was that the food was not oily. If you are vegan, I would suggest asking if your meal is cooked in fish sauce.

The food was fresh, and the restaurant was very clean.

Angie's Place

Ever since Angie's Place opened its doors in 2015, I've been a regular patron.

They serve delicious food with genuine Southern hospitality, and I've made some great friends there.

Angie's Place also contributes to our community, and they've updated the facility and added some local favorites to their menu to better serve us.

I often go there for their authentic Southern cuisine, which they serve all day.

Their breakfast platter is a favorite of mine, with eggs, grits, toast, and my choice of bacon, ham, sausage, steak, or salmon.

I have to say, their fried chicken is the best I've had in a while, and it's always piping hot and perfectly cooked.

And I can't leave without ordering some of their fluffy, buttery biscuits.

Another dish I love is their country-fried steak, served with my choice of two dinner sides (potato wedges, baked beans, coleslaw or mashed potatoes, and gravy).

It's absolutely delicious. If you're looking for authentic Southern food, head to Angie's Place at Memorial Dr, Suite B, Stone Mountain, Georgia.

I've even trusted Ms. Angie to cater our company meals, whether it's everyday southern favorites or holiday occasions.

She is always so accommodating and friendly.

Nice Mon Restaurant

I was delighted by Nice Mon Restaurant's traditional Caribbean fare.

Authentic Jamaican dishes such as chicken curry, oxtail, braised fish, goat curry, beef patties, and more are served in a casual atmosphere.

It is undoubtedly one of the top Caribbean eateries in the neighborhood.

Their commitment to high-quality food ensured that everything I ordered exceeded my expectations.

As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a friendly and helpful clerk.

I decided to try some of their delicious stew peas and oxtail while I was there. The oxtails, rice, and peas were cooked to perfection.

I couldn't pass up the opportunity to eat the best jerk chicken, rice, and peas in the neighborhood.

I also ordered a mango juice/smoothie drink which was really good.

I love the family atmosphere at Nice Mon Restaurant and the consistency in their food.

They were out of the meat patties during my visit, but that's OK because I plan to try this restaurant again in the near future.

I couldn't decide between the oxtails and spicy goat, so I ordered the small for both, and if that's the case, their small is HUGE.

Both plates were amazing! The spicy goat had the perfect amount of heat.

If you're hungry for delicious food, head to Nice Mon Restaurant in Stone Mountain, Georgia.

The ambiance is great, with afrobeat music playing in the background, making it a perfect spot for a night out with friends or family.

Le Nouveau Maquis

Stepping into Le Nouveau Maquis, a gem tucked away on Memorial Dr, Stone Mountain, Georgia, is like stepping into a comforting embrace of a familiar, homely kitchen.

This mother-daughter owned sanctuary, with almost a decade of community service under their belt, offers more than just a cozy place to dine.

It's an invitation to a beautiful culinary journey where nostalgia intertwines with every morsel.

The warmth and authenticity that Fanta and Fabiola infuse into their dishes echo the love found in home-cooked meals, with a distinct West African flair.

One such example is their divine Jollof rice, a plate that joyfully dances between succulent pieces of grilled chicken or lamb, alongside a medley of fresh cucumbers, onions, and tomatoes.

It's a flavor palette that reminisces the comfort of childhood, stirred by familiar hands.

Yet, their mastery doesn't stop there.

The chicken, beef, turkey, and fufu dishes are nothing short of an epiphany on a plate.

Each bite is a testament to their cultural heritage, a tapestry woven with rich flavors and traditional recipes.

Le Nouveau Maquis, which translates to "The New Restaurant," truly lives up to its name, with an ambiance as inviting as its gastronomical offerings.

The Togolese duo has created a haven for lovers of West African comfort food, making each visit an enchanting rendezvous with nostalgia.

Southern dishes are served seasonally, and a brunch buffet is available on Sundays.

The menu is light and uncomplicated, featuring dishes like sweet potato biscuits, cobbler, and hand-cut fries.

Smoothies, juices, and teas made from organic ingredients are available in their café, which supports fair trade organic coffee.

I usually visit during lunchtime to refuel, and I can't resist their succulent chicken breast served on buttery ciabatta with a coating of melted smoked gouda.

I also love their delicious grilled fish with a mellow lemon butter sauce. The sweet potato packed with shrimp and honey garlic is a great way to end the day.

They also have vegan and vegetarian choices, so no one has to feel left out.

Their ingredients come directly from their garden and other nearby farmers.

On our past visit, my husband and I both got the pulled pork mac n cheese after our appetizer of crispy sweet potatoes.

It felt like we were eating at a friend's house.

We love supporting small businesses, especially those that are black-owned and operated.
