While this list showcases some remarkable restaurants, it's important to note there are many other exceptional dining establishments in Southaven that are not featured here. Our aim is not just to guide you to popular eateries but to encourage you to venture out and experience the city's diverse culinary landscape for yourself.
Bites & Treats
My cravings found their home at Bites & Treats.
Over the years, I've seen this place transform from a humble eatery to a beautifully immaculate establishment.
The food preparation area is always squeaky clean, and the food, oh, the food!
I remember my son gobbling down those chicken nuggets and fries.
Freshly fried, the nuggets are seasoned to perfection and battered with love, while the fries have a unique zesty zing of lemon pepper.
The cheeseburger and fries paired with a blueberry smoothie became my personal favorite.
It's not just their regular menu that shines, their specials like chicken quesadilla and Italian beef are loaded with fresh ingredients and flavors that leave you wanting for more.
And if you have room for dessert, you can't miss the house-made ice cream.
Smooth, creamy, and bursting with the freshness of fruits - it’s a treat in itself!
I've also tried their smoothies and the Philly cheese steak.
If you're a fan of all things natural, their smoothies are a must-try.
Each sip bursts with natural flavors, making you fall in love with them instantly.
And the Philly cheese steak, it's a masterpiece, a must-try if you're visiting!
Every place has that one spot where the food is so delectable it becomes the talk of the city.
For us, it's Smackers.
If you find yourself here, you'll understand why every bite at Smackers is more than just food; it's a mouthwatering experience.
The moment you step foot in here, you can feel the buzzing atmosphere and the aroma of the food will make your tummy grumble with anticipation.
The food is always hot, ready and, let me tell you, it’s well worth the wait.
Smackers is known for their wings - I mean, who wouldn’t love a full wing, not just a section but a whole wing dipped in their tangy sauce?
Just be prepared, they give you one small dipping sauce, and any additional ones will cost you extra.
But who cares when those wings taste so heavenly?
Even the thought of it makes my mouth water.
Apart from their wings, Smackers’ Salmon Club is a must-try.
The youngsters around here say it's "bussin", and boy, they are not wrong.
And if you are feeling adventurous, make sure you try the Smacker Burger and their Chicken Quesadilla.
Wash it all down with a refreshing sip of their Kool Aid - a perfect end to a delicious meal.
They make you feel at home and even keep you informed about any items that are unavailable.
Naru Japanese Restaurant
Do you know the feeling when you walk into a place and instantly know that you're in for a treat?
That's exactly what happened when I walked into Naru Japanese Restaurant.
Hidden away in Southaven, Naru serves up a delightful blend of traditional Japanese cuisine with modern flair - it's almost like stepping into Tokyo, right in our own backyard!
One of the first things that caught my eye was the contemporary decor that brilliantly balanced the cozy ambiance with a touch of elegance.
The first time I visited, it was for lunch and let me tell you, the portions were substantial enough to be considered dinner at most other places.
And the taste, simply spectacular!
A standout dish for me was the sushi roll - each piece was bursting with flavors of fresh ingredients, perfectly rolled and presented.
Their menu isn't just limited to sushi though, they also serve Hibachi and an array of cocktails.
One unique thing about Naru is their intriguing dessert.
I still remember the pineapple covered with chocolate they served us - a delightful surprise for my sweet tooth!
Although it seemed like a long-standing issue, it certainly did not dampen the overall dining experience.
In fact, on a special occasion, they went above and beyond to serve a beautifully presented fried cheesecake that was nothing less than a feast for the eyes and the palate.
La Hacienda 21
Oh, the joy of discovering a culinary gem right in your backyard!
That's the experience I have every time I visit La Hacienda 21.
A laid-back spot with good food and affordable drinks, it's my go-to for a quick bite or a casual dinner.
Now, I know it might not be a 4 or 5-star restaurant by common standards, but let me tell you, the vibe here is simply irresistible!
It's the kind of place where you feel at home the moment you step in.
It's always served fresh, hot, and super quick.
I've never had an issue with my order, and I've been frequenting this place for years.
Whether I'm dining in with family or grabbing a quick meal alone, they always make me feel welcome.
One & Only BBQ
Ever had one of those days when you get a hankering for some good old-fashioned BBQ?
Well, I found myself with that craving recently and decided to pay a visit to a place I've passed by countless times but never stopped in at before - One & Only BBQ.
As soon as I stepped foot into One & Only BBQ, I was enveloped by the tantalizing aroma of smoked meat and the sound of sizzling grills that made my mouth water more than ever.
Filled with anticipation, I decided to try their BBQ Nachos, Junkyard Dog, and the Mac and Cheese with coleslaw - a decision I will never regret.
Each bite was a heavenly mix of flavors that were cooked to absolute perfection.
The real cherry on top was the service.
This added an extra layer of warmth to the already cozy and welcoming atmosphere.
After having such an amazing experience, I couldn’t help but return to try out their ribs and fried chicken.
Not to disappoint, the ribs were fantastic - a perfect balance of crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.
My companions, who opted for the cheese and sausage plate and the bologna sandwich plate, were equally pleased with their meals, praising the consistency of the food across different locations.
My latest visit saw me returning for their cheesecake - a sweet delight that was as good as the BBQ, if not better.
Although the pulled pork wasn’t exactly what I was expecting, the taste was still good and the ribs and baked beans never disappoint.
The Country Skillet
There's nothing quite like stepping into The Country Skillet.
I can't help but feel a bit of nostalgia every time I step into this warm, welcoming country diner.
Its cozy, home kitchen feel is the perfect antidote to a long, tiring day.
The walls, adorned with rustic decorations, instantly transport me back to simpler days.
This small, friendly spot is my go-to when I crave a hearty, Southern-style breakfast.
They're made just the right way, creamy, buttery and simply delicious.
Don't get me started on the strawberry jam - it's so sweet, it practically melts on your tongue.
I remember once having a particularly rough day, after dealing with a broken vehicle and a tardy police response.
I walked in, grumpy and caffeine-deprived, and was immediately met with concern and kindness.
They went out of their way to brighten my day, and it’s this human touch that makes dining here such a heartwarming experience.
Ah, Huey's Southaven, the local tavern that has become my second home.
It's the perfect place to grab a beer, indulge in some classic pub grub, and lose yourself in the rhythm of live music.
Walking into Huey's, you're immediately met with an easygoing atmosphere.
The kind of place where the music is always playing, the conversation is always flowing, and the laughter is always ringing.
It's the sort of joint where you can kick back, relax, and just enjoy the moment.
One of the best things about Huey's is the burgers.
Oh, the burgers!
They're specialty hamburgers which you can order according to your preferred doneness – medium rare, medium, well, you name it.
Pair it with their onion rings and you're in for a treat.
But here's a little insider tip: skip the fries, they're just okay.
If you're not into burgers, no worries.
Huey's has a whole range of other offerings such as the Fried Mushrooms, which are nice, crunchy and not overly breaded.
If you have a sweet tooth, the warm, soft homemade brownie with ice cream is a must-try.
But what truly sets Huey's apart isn't just the food or the music.
It's the service.
When it comes to satisfying my craving for authentic Mexican cuisine, there’s no place quite like El Agave Mexican Restaurants.
Tucked away in the heart of Southaven MS., this hidden gem serves up some of the best, not to mention sizeable, Mexican dishes in the city.
One of the highlights of dining at El Agave is their Big Daddy Burrito.
Weighing in at a hefty 4-5lbs, this dish is a challenge even for the most voracious eaters.
But it’s not just the food that makes El Agave special.
The restaurant also provides top-notch service.
Plus, the food always arrives promptly, so you won't be kept waiting.
The ambiance of the restaurant is also worth mentioning.
With its clean interiors and the inviting aroma of Mexican cuisine wafting around, it creates a cheery atmosphere for a casual meal.
And if you're up for a drink, their Trash Can mix is a must-try!
In terms of cost, the price is surprising.
Given the quality and quantity of the food, I consider it a real bargain.
Saki Endless Sushi and Hibachi
Once you've gotten a taste of the delectable offerings at Saki Endless Sushi and Hibachi, you’ll understand why it holds a special place on my list of dining haunts.
This charming little place has been my go-to spot for a standard or unlimited menu, both for lunch and dinner.
All for an even $20, including drinks and tax, you get to enjoy an unlimited lunch.
The concept is very simple - you're given a menu, and you get to order whatever you fancy.
One thing I love about Saki Endless Sushi is that the orders are always prepared fresh and brought to the table in a timely manner.
On one of my recent visits, I decided to try the sesame chicken with fried rice and an assortment of sushi.
Every bite was a delight, and every plate was left squeaky clean.
What truly sets this place apart is the prompt and attentive service.
Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken
"Spicy, crispy, and simply delish!"
That's what comes to my mind when I think about Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken.
Oh, the countless times I've been there for lunch or dinner, each visit as satisfying as the one before.
The long-running chain in our city has a reputation for serving spicy fried chicken and comfort sides in a low-key setting.
And trust me, the fame is well-deserved!
Every time I have a craving for fried chicken, Gus's is my go-to spot.
The fried chicken here is the main star, always perfectly cooked, and served piping hot.
And the spicy kick?
It's just right!
My belly always leaves full and happy.
But the delights don't end there.
Their sides are excellent complements to the main dish.
The baked beans and mac n cheese are just too good to resist.
The fried green tomatoes are really good too.
However, a word of caution - they can get quite hot, as I learned the hard way once!
The chicken tenders here are equally satisfying, but not as tasty as their fried chicken.
The fried okra too is a must-try, it's very crispy and delicious.
The coleslaw and baked beans are just as you'd expect, simple and well-made.
Now, you might think you'd have to pay through your nose for such delectable dishes.
But no, the prices are reasonable and the portions, generous.
And the best part?
They have a pet-friendly patio.
I'm not one to pass up a good slice of pizza or a hearty sub, and that's why Avellino's Pizzeria has become my go-to spot.
Nestled in an unassuming strip-mall, Avellino's might not grab your attention at first, but trust me, their food certainly will.
As soon as you step into the restaurant, you are greeted with comforting smiles and excellent customer service that just warms your heart.
What sets Avellino's apart is their pizza.
I've been to many a pizzeria but the BBQ pizza here, it's something else.
Fluffy and beautifully cooked, each bite is a delightful experience.
They are not just about pizza though, their pasta and subs are equally commendable.
The portions are generous and the Alfredo and lasagna are dishes you simply cannot miss.
Each time I visit, I end up spending around $60 and given the quality and quantity of the food, I consider it money well spent.
Although I have a sweet tooth, I am picky about my desserts.
But the cannoli and cheesecakes at Avellino's are absolutely heavenly.
Their cannolis are not like the ones you find elsewhere, they are glazed with chocolate and are just perfect.
Every week, my taste buds embark on a culinary adventure right here in the city.
My latest escapade led me to Maria's Cantina, a vibrant oasis of Mexican cuisine that brightens up our cityscape.
From its colorful interior to the lively patio seating, Maria's Cantina is a sensory delight.
The restaurant offers a tantalizing variety of Mexican delicacies, each with its own unique twist.
On my numerous visits, I've sampled a range of their dishes, each more delicious than the last.
The fried jalapeno appetizer is a must-try.
The heat of the jalapenos, perfectly balanced with the crunch of fried batter, is an unforgettable experience.
Though the restaurant is closed on Mondays, the rest of the week is a perfect opportunity for a vibrant Mexican feast.
Maria's Cantina’s lunch menu is also worth exploring.
Despite my initial curiosity about the idea of cajun-creole food at a Mexican restaurant, I have to admit that the chicken and sausage gumbo, while unexpected, was a pleasant surprise.
The guacamole and salsa are also great accompaniments to any meal, although I do suggest sticking with the traditional Mexican dishes for a truly authentic experience.
That coupled with the decent beer options and the clean-tasting tacos and dirty rice bowl makes this place a gem amongst the city's dining venues.
If you're seeking good, old-fashioned American cuisine, look no further than Dale's.
Being a part of this community, I've had the pleasure of dining there many times, and it never fails to satisfy my cravings for hearty home-cooked meals.
Located conveniently nearby, it's hard to resist the pull of Dale's when hunger strikes.
What makes Dale's special, is the ambience.
It's a cozy place that reminds you of your grandmother's kitchen, complete with booths and quaint little touches that add to its charm.
What I enjoy the most about Dale's is the personal touch they add to their service.
The Chicken Fried Chicken is an absolute favorite of mine.
Complement it with a baked potato, and you're in for a real treat.
However, Dale's isn't just about food.
It's about the experience.
They have charming displays around the restaurant, and if you're a fan of Christmas decorations, Dale's will be a sight for your eyes.
It's the perfect place to share a meal with someone special, or even enjoy a quiet dinner by yourself.

Nestled just a few miles from the nearest airport exit, this delightful diner has proven itself to be much more than an eatery; it's a place brimming with warmth, community, and truly fabulous food.
You know, there's something deeply comforting about walking into a restaurant and being treated like family.
And that's exactly the kind of experience you get at Fabulous Flavors & Friends Diner Restaurant.
You're greeted with friendly faces, engaging conversations, and a level of hospitality that's hard to find these days.
I still remember the first time I stepped into the diner.
The tantalizing aroma of fried chicken wafting in the air was enough to set my taste buds alight.
And let me tell you, the food did not disappoint.
The chicken was expertly fried to a golden-brown perfection, and the peach cobbler was a sweet finish to a hearty meal.
Every dish on their menu is a scrumptious testament to the rich and diverse Southern comfort food that Memphis is renowned for.
Beyond the delicious food, the sense of community here is truly special.
Everyone who walks through their doors - from the regulars to first-time visitors - is welcomed with open arms.
It's a place where strangers quickly become friends, sharing smiles, stories, and, of course, recommendations on what to order next.
Valle's Italian Rebel
I recently visited Valle's Italian Rebel for the first time.
How I've deprived myself of this culinary experience for years, I'll never know!
I decided to be adventurous on my first visit, opting for the spicy Italian, Italian sausage, and a single slice of their sausage and pepperoni pizza.
What an explosion of flavors!
The pizza sauce and dough tasted like they'd been made right there in-house, with the freshness practically begging for another bite.
The spicy Italian was a revelation, packed to the brim with delicious meat.
The Italian sausage, running the entire length of the bun, was a delight.
I spotted a review on Valle's in Garden and Gun once and it intrigued me.
So, when I finally got a chance to try the MUFFELETTA, it lived up to the hype!
Delicious with a capital D.
Not to mention, the folks there greet you with the warmest of smiles.
Very friendly too.
Eggxactly Breakfast & Deli
Ah, the scent of fresh coffee and the sound of sizzling bacon - it's just another delightful morning at Eggxactly Breakfast & Deli, a beloved nook in the Whitehaven community of Memphis.
There's nothing quite like kicking off the day with one of their build-your-own breakfast bowls.
And let me tell you, when they say "hefty", they mean it!
The portions are not for the faint-hearted.
When I first walked into this place, Eggxactly Breakfast & Deli surprised me with its homely, warm vibes.
It's a down-to-earth cafe, yet airy and spacious. The decor is unpretentious but inviting, making it feel like a cozy gathering spot for the neighborhood folks.
I remember ordering the thighs and fries basket on my first visit.
I asked for my thighs to be cooked hard, just the way I like it.
And they got it absolutely spot on!
I wish I could say the same for the dipping sauce, but luckily, I’m a hot sauce person and I found their hot sauce to be particularly good.
Although the summer heat was relentless, I didn’t mind waiting for my order with the handy buzzer they provided.
On my next visit, I decided to go for breakfast.
The omelettes here are out of this world - quite possibly the best I've ever had.
They could certainly be larger, but that's a small gripe compared to the overall experience.
Eggxactly is not just a cafe, it's a testament to the spirit of the Whitehaven community.
It's the dream of a couple of local entrepreneurs, realized in the form of a bustling, successful eatery.
"Don't judge a book by its cover" - we've all heard it, but it's never been more applicable than with our very own African Restaurant here in the city.
The exterior may have a worn-down look that can be deceptive, but step inside and you're in for one of the most unforgettable culinary experiences!
I remember my first visit there.
As an adventurous foodie, I dove right in.
Once I'd maneuvered my way around the fish bones, I was rewarded with a flavor explosion that had me saying, "Wow!" in no time.
Every single bite was a delight - the fish was fresh, the pickled onions added a tangy crunch, and the spicy paste was the perfect blend of heat and flavor.
But the surprises didn’t stop there!
For a side, I had a spicy fish pie, which I relished later as a midnight snack.
It had a kick, just enough to get my taste buds tingling.
The restaurant became a regular spot for me and it’s wonderful to see a constant stream of customers picking up their to-go orders.
The fried chicken seems to be a popular choice, and it's on my list for next time!
And I can't forget to mention the fufu and egusi soup, apparently another crowd favorite.
My fellow diners can’t stop raving about it.
Can’t wait to try that on my future visit!
The African Restaurant may not look like much from the outside, but it's a gem hiding in plain sight.
It's a true testament to the fact that looks can be deceiving, and great food is all about taste, freshness, and love, all of which are abundantly evident here.
So, if you're in the mood for an authentic African culinary experience right in the heart of our city, you know where to go!
Uncle Lou's Fried Chicken
I have to tell you, there's nothing quite like the explosion of flavors that greet you when you bite into a piece of Uncle Lou's Fried Chicken.
Their Spicy & Mild Fried Chicken is a must-try.
The first time I tasted it, I was blown away.
It was perfectly crispy with a dash of spice, yet tender enough to melt in the mouth.
Now, whenever I have friends or family in the city, I always make sure to bring them here.
They've never been disappointed.
The eatery, located conveniently for us Memphis locals, is not just known for its chicken.
It also offers other southern eats and jumbo burgers.
But the star of the menu, in my opinion, is the unique 'Sweet Spicy Love Sauce'.
It's the perfect blend of sweet and spicy that takes the fried chicken to a whole new level.
It's so good, in fact, I've taken a bottle of it home more than once.
And don't even get me started on their chess pie, it's simply out of this world.
One of the things I love most about Uncle Lou's is the atmosphere.
It's an informal spot, perfect for a laid-back lunch or dinner.
And to top it all off, Uncle Lou comes out to greet each guest personally.
It's a touch of southern charm that makes you feel right at home.
I've had the pleasure of tasting the diverse flavors Southaven has to offer.
It's hard to resist the enticing aroma of barbecue at One & Only BBQ, and I can't help but reminisce about the delightful breakfasts at Eggxactly Breakfast and Deli.
Whether you're searching for something familiar, or eager to try out exotic flavors, Southaven has plenty to offer.
