With the San Gabriel Mountains as my backdrop, I find myself in Ontario, California, a vibrant city nestled in the heart of California's Inland Empire.
A thriving city of over 180,000 people, Ontario has become a culinary gem in the Golden State, celebrated for its diverse blend of cultures and cuisines.
Here, I uncover a tantalizing food scene as varied and colorful as the people themselves.
Ontario's strategic location, positioned right on the cusp of Los Angeles County and San Bernardino County, shapes its culinary scene.
It's a junction of flavors, from sizzling fajitas echoing the city's strong Mexican heritage to fresh seafood dishes inspired by the nearby Pacific Ocean and hearty steaks reminiscent of traditional American grills.
As a foodie, I've learned that it's not just the exquisite cuisine that leaves a lasting impression.
Whether it's a bustling diner that serves breakfast all day or an upscale restaurant offering creative fusion cuisine, there's an inherent sense of welcome that adds warmth to every meal.
Yes, Ontario, with its unique gastronomic delights, truly has something for everyone.
Here are the 15 best restaurants in Ontario, California:
The Olive Grill

The other day, I decided to grab a quick bite at The Olive Grill.
As soon as I walked in, I noticed the cozy atmosphere and the mouth-watering aroma.
The menu had an eclectic mix of sandwiches, wraps, burgers, and bowls, with something for everyone.
In addition, I also tried their vegetable egg rolls, which were surprisingly more flavorful than I had expected.
To accompany my meal, I went for the pistachio blended drink, which was absolutely delicious and refreshing.
While I was there, I noticed that The Olive Grill is a self-service restaurant, so be prepared to pick it up after yourself.
I got there just around noon, and although it was quite busy, the service was still quick and efficient.
Porter's Prime Steakhouse

Porter's Prime Steakhouse, located at the Doubletree Ontario Airport Hotel, takes pride in providing a romantic and welcoming atmosphere to its guests.
I had made a reservation in advance, which ensured I didn't have to wait for a table.
Considering it was a busy evening, the service was incredible, and I never felt rushed or overlooked.
The menu at Porter's Prime Steakhouse boasts a variety of aged steaks, seafood, and chops.
For my main course, I chose one of their popular dishes – a perfectly aged and broiled Midwestern prime beef steak.
It arrived at my table cooked to perfection, just as I had requested.
The steak was tender, juicy, and full of flavor, leaving me thoroughly satisfied with my meal.
While steak may be their specialty, I couldn't resist trying one of their seafood dishes as well.
The freshness and quality of the seafood were impressive, and it was clear that great care had been taken in its preparation.
In addition to the fantastic food, Porter's Prime Steakhouse offers a full bar, complete with a wide selection of wine, beer, and cocktails.
I opted for a glass of wine, which paired perfectly with my meal, further enhancing the dining experience.
Bombay Restaurant Cuisine of India
I decided to treat myself to a delicious Indian meal and headed to the Bombay Restaurant Cuisine of India.
It's a popular eatery in the area, known for its tandoori specials, curry classics, buffet lunch, and champagne brunch.
I arrived there around 12:30 pm, just when the buffet was filled with an array of mouth-watering dishes.
I started my meal with their Mulligatawny Soup, which was so delicious, I could have had another serving.
I tried the Vegetarian and Bombay Special Combination dinners, which came with a variety of dishes, including paneer curry, that was absolutely divine.
I couldn't resist the garlic naan and jalapeño garlic naan, both of which were very tasty.
The naan, in particular, was the freshest and so flavorful with garlic on it.
The Chef's Pho

The Chef's Pho was perfect for a relaxed meal, and I noticed that the place is locally owned and operated, which is a big plus for me.
The place was clean and well-maintained, and they even had sports on TV, making it a great spot to catch a game.
I decided to try their house's special pho, which had a generous portion of meat.
Although the broth might not be as good as some competitors around, it was still satisfying.
I also ordered a rice dish with pork chop (33b), which was flavorful and served in a generous portion.
5 Star Pizza

Last weekend, I decided to treat myself to some delicious pizza, and without a doubt, 5 Star Pizza in Ontario was my top choice.
I was impressed by the variety of topping options offered in their build-your-own pizza section, and the staff were more than happy to assist me in customizing my pizza just the way I wanted it.
I finally settled on a small olive and basil pizza, which turned out to be exactly what I was craving.
The crust had an excellent flavor - crispy yet soft and airy - and the perfect amount of sauce and cheese.
The sauce itself had a great flavor, making every bite a delight.
Apart from their delicious pizza, 5 Star Pizza also offers pasta, wings, beer, and wine.
I couldn't resist trying their garlic parmesan wings which were a solid 9/10 in my book.
They were the perfect accompaniment to my pizza and the beer I ordered, which was definitely a 10/10.
Carnitas Al Estilo Michoacan

I couldn't resist the call of Carnitas Al Estilo Michoacan when I first saw their sign that simply said "Carnitas."
Being a huge fan of Mexican cuisine, I decided to give it a try, and I'm so glad I did.
The moment I walked in, I could tell that Carnitas Al Estilo Michoacan was an authentic, family-owned Mexican joint specializing in carnitas-based meals, as well as birria, menudo, and catering packages.
I decided to order the popular combo of three tacos with big tortillas and a soda for $14, and I couldn't have been happier with my choice.
The carnitas were juicy and delicious, and the salsa that accompanied the dish was simply amazing.
In addition to the delectable carnitas, I also got to enjoy some sumptuous birria and a refreshing Jamaica drink that completed my meal.
One thing that stood out was the amount of food they offer in their packages.
I learned that they also cater for parties, and their packages include rice, beans, and salsa.
Kura Revolving Sushi Bar

As a sushi enthusiast, I can't help but rave about my recent visit to Kura Revolving Sushi Bar in Rancho Cucamonga.
This unique dining experience has quickly become one of my favorites in town.
The restaurant offers a wide array of sushi and other Japanese dishes, all served on a conveyor belt that drifts past diners in a simple yet modern setting.
Upon arrival, I was impressed by the innovative and tech-interactive concept, which involved minimal human interaction.
I checked in on an iPad at the entrance and was promptly guided to my seat once it was ready.
At my table, I found another iPad where I could order drinks like wasabi, which were then delivered to me by an automated robot.
The food selection was great, with a conveyor belt continuously spinning around the entire restaurant, offering various clamshell containers of sushi to choose from.
If I didn't fancy anything on the conveyor, I could simply order from the iPad, and my dish would arrive via a separate conveyor above my table.
The salmon belly, tuna toro, and ramen noodles were particularly fresh and delicious.
Kura's commitment to providing high-quality ingredients without artificial sweeteners, seasonings, preservatives, or colorings reflects their philosophy of "muten," or "nothing added."
In addition to being a tasty dining experience, it's also a healthy one.
The restaurant is also kid-friendly, making it a perfect spot for family dinners and casual gatherings.
El Chilitos Mexican Restaurant

I recently visited El Chilitos Mexican Restaurant, and I must say, I had a superb experience.
It's a cozy spot that offers tasty Mexican classics along with breakfast and beer.
One of the things that sets El Chilitos apart from other Mexican restaurants in the area is its fresh tortillas.
If you're like me and prefer corn tortillas, you're in luck!
They make handmade corn tortillas every Saturday and Sunday morning.
Just make sure to get there early, as they often run out by 11 am.
During my visit, I ordered an off-menu item - a shredded beef wet burrito with half red and half green sauce.
I've also heard great things about their menudo and huevos rancheros, so I'll definitely be back to try those too.
You can choose between hot or mild salsa, and I went with the mild option, which was just right for me.
Zeke's Eatin' Place

As a long-time resident in the area, I can confidently say that Zeke's Eatin' Place is one of my favorite spots for a hearty breakfast or lunch.
With a down-home vibe and generous portions, this place never disappoints.
From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a warm, country-style ambiance that takes you back to simpler times.
The menu is loaded with delicious options, and I personally recommend their famous Biscuit & Gravy, Country Fried Steak, and Steak & Eggs.
If you're in the mood for something sweet, their Giant Wagon Wheel Pancakes are a must-try.
One thing I love about Zeke's is that they serve breakfast all day.
For lunch, their Home Made Meatloaf, steak, soup, and salads are always satisfying choices.
Alina's Lebanese Cuisine

One of my favorite places to eat in the area is Alina's Lebanese Cuisine.
It's a family-owned business that serves authentic Lebanese organic food and Halal meat.
Their menu offers traditional chicken & beef kebabs, along with falafel and other vegetarian eats in a basic space.
I often come here for their Shawarma Chicken and Beef, both of which are incredibly flavorful.
The hummus is hands down the best in Ontario, and their garlic paste is simply to die for.
I've also tried their delicious Lamb Kebab and the Shawarma Chicken sandwich combo, which are some of their best entrees.
The employees at Alina's are always friendly and attentive.
Although the dining space has been transformed into a strictly takeout setup, I still feel welcomed and well taken care of.
I've noticed that the food is made to order, which might take some time, so it's best to call ahead to place your order.
The quality of the food is fairly priced, so I see it as a treat every now and then rather than a regular spot.
Kosuke Ramen

Last week, I visited Kosuke Ramen for a date night, and we both instantly fell in love with the place.
The laid-back restaurant had simple decor, perfect for a casual and relaxed dining experience.
What really stood out was their amazing ramen.
It was incredibly flavorful, and the service was quick and friendly.
Their menu specializes in Japanese noodle soups, curries, and sushi.
Since we were in the mood for ramen, we tried both the Spicy and Regular Ramen, which we requested to be served EXTRA HOT.
The soup temperature was just the way we like it, and we both ended up giving it a 9 out of 10!
We also ordered Pork Fried Rice, which was absolutely delicious.
We asked for it without the ginger topping, and it was still a 10 out of 10 dish.
Although the place was quite spacious, it still had a cozy atmosphere, making it great for a group of friends or family.
The service was always good throughout our dinner.
Ontar Thai Restaurant

I recently visited Ontar Thai Restaurant, and the moment I stepped into this cozy and unpretentious spot, I was welcomed by the friendly staff and the aroma of delicious Thai dishes.
The menu offers an extensive range of noodle dishes, curries, and other Thai plates.
My friends and I went ahead and ordered some of their popular dishes like chicken wonton, pineapple fried rice, and pad Thai, and oh boy, everything was so delightful!
The flavors were authentic, and the spice level was just perfect.
I also noticed that other guests in the restaurant were raving about the pad see ew and fried rice - something I need to try next time!
I've been to many Thai restaurants, but Ontar Thai Restaurant has definitely earned a special place in my heart.
Iron Skillet Restaurant

One weekend, I decided to head over to Iron Skillet Restaurant for a hearty American breakfast.
As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the warm, unfussy, and traditional atmosphere that I absolutely love in a diner.
Looking at the extensive menu, I decided to go for the Breakfast Skillet, which included tomatoes, ham, and onions served over seasoned home fries and smothered in Cheddar cheese.
Though it could have used a bit more cheese and egg, the dish was still delicious and filling.
I also couldn't resist trying their French toast, which was made to perfection and served in a generous six-slice portion.
My fellow diners seemed to enjoy their meals as well.
I overheard someone raving about their egg sandwich, which was made unique and absolutely mouthwatering by the homemade bread it was served on.
El Pescador Mexican Grill

The ambiance at El Pescador Mexican Grill was lively, and the beautiful interior design showcased a mix of Old West and modern SoCal flair.
The seafood-focused menu had so many enticing options that it was hard to choose what to order.
Eventually, we decided to share a variety of dishes; we tried the seafood molcajete, prepared oysters, shrimp cocktail, mixed fajitas with shrimp, steak, and chicken, street tacos, ceviche, tostada, enchiladas, and quesadillas.
Everything was fresh, flavorful, and authentic.
The drinks were delicious, too, especially the cocktails made with 100% agave tequila.
While they weren't too strong, they were still enjoyable and complemented our dishes nicely.
I also heard that they offer a great Happy Hour, which I'll be sure to check out next time.
The Bucket Crab & Crawfish

I recently visited The Bucket Crab & Crawfish and had a great time feasting on their delicious seafood.
The ambiance was casual and fun, with writing and tagging on the walls giving the place a unique charm.
I ordered the popular Bucket Medley with shrimp and found the sauce to be incredible – even better than Boiling Crab, in my opinion.
The sauce consistency was just right, not too thick and not too watery.
I also tried their Cajun fries, which were absolutely addictive – I couldn't stop eating them!
