Alma Bistro

Ever since I heard about Alma Bistro, Cocina Latina, opening in town, I couldn't wait to try it out.

I've been a longtime fan of their sister restaurant, Don Rene Taqueria, in Milford, so I had high expectations.

I must say Alma Bistro exceeded my expectations.

The Alma Latin Bistro website does not do this place justice!

As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the warm and welcoming atmosphere created by the understated elegant décor.

To start off, I shared the guacamole and black bean hummus with my friends.

Both were exceptional, with the guacamole being well-balanced and leagues above others I've tried.

The black bean hummus was so good that we asked to take the leftovers home, something I've never done before with a side dish.

One dish that will keep me coming back is the Tuna tostada.

The combination of miso, ginger, sesame oil, and avocado with fresh tuna was simply amazing.

So good, in fact, we ordered a second one.

The grilled octopus also caught my eye, and I was not disappointed.

Cooked to perfection and served with onions, celery, heirloom potatoes, and smoked pepper puree, this dish will definitely be a staple for me whenever I visit.

Another unexpected hit was the Kale Caesar salad with Cotija cheese and sunflower seeds.

I'm not usually a fan of kale, but this baby kale was delicious.

Not to mention, the Birria Taco from Don Rene Taqueria is also available at Alma, and it brought back memories of homemade beef stew from my childhood.

One of my favorite spots in the neighborhood is Primavera, a quaint Italian restaurant with a warm atmosphere and exceptional service.

I remember a particular Saturday evening when I went there with a group of friends at around 6 pm.

The place filled up quickly, but it never got too loud, allowing us to have an intimate and enjoyable dining experience.

The menu offers a wide variety of authentic Italian dishes, and it seemed like we couldn't make the wrong choice.

I had the zuppa di pesce, while my partner went for the chicken parmigiana.

Our friends opted for the salmon and linguine bolognese, and we all agreed that our meals were delicious.

In fact, I've heard their crab cakes, scallops, and red snapper are also among the best in town.

Even though the restaurant was packed that night, they never rushed us or pressured us to pay the check.

We spent quality time catching up with our friends, and they only brought the check when we asked for it.

The reasonable prices and welcoming environment make it a perfect place for a lovely night out with friends or family.

Recently, I came across Pontos Taverna and decided to give it a try.

Good Hope Dumpling and Ramen House

As someone who enjoys exploring different cuisines in my own town, I recently decided to pay a visit to Good Hope Dumpling and Ramen House.

This Asian gem located right in Norwalk offers authentic flavors that you would normally only find in Flushing, Queens, or while traveling in Asia.

What's more, the restaurant is BYOB, allowing us to enjoy a great dinner with cheap drinks.

I had the chance to try several dishes: Dan Dan noodles, spring rolls with chili dipping sauce, pork dumplings with Szechuan chili sauce, Tonkotsu Ramen, and braised beef fan.

Each dish was delicious, fresh, and flavorful, leaving us truly satisfied.

The fried buns for dessert were also a must-try – puffy, hot, and soft, and accompanied by the perfect dipping sauce that wasn't too sweet.

From the moment we walked in, we were captivated by the authentic and rustic décor featuring sugar skulls, which truly added to the overall ambiance of the place.

We started off with some wings as an appetizer, which was good but not mind-blowing.

However, the main courses were the real stars of the show.

My partner ordered the Lomo Saltaldo, and I went for the Chicken and Steak Fajitas.

Both dishes were served on sizzling cast iron plates, accompanied by a variety of delicious sauces.

The flavors were incredible, and the presentation was top-notch.

But the highlight of the night was their Coco Margaritas.

I've never tasted anything like it before - so delicious!

From my multiple visits to Blue Cactus Grill, I can confidently say that they serve the best Tex-Mex-style food in the area.

They have a wide variety of options, ranging from Arizona-inspired salads, sandwiches, and cheesesteaks to scrumptious desserts like banana pudding and refreshing homemade sauces and lemonades.

The ramen broth is always fresh and tasty, with the Tonkotsu being my personal favorite.

The interior of the restaurant is comfortably cozy, with interesting paintings adorning one of the walls.

I recently tried their poke bowl with spring salad – it was delicious and gave me a boost of healthiness.

The tempura veggies were also worth noting, especially the avocado.

And if you're a fan of truffles, their truffle pate with honey is a must-try.

I even indulged in their sweet potato cheesecake for dessert, and it was the perfect end to my dining experience.

I absolutely love going to Match whenever I get the chance.

The cozy atmosphere, complete with a bar and outdoor patio, makes it a great spot for dinner with friends or a romantic evening.

Their innovative and seasonal New American cuisine never fails to impress me.

One of my favorite things to start with is their crispy Brussels sprouts, which are perfectly paired with sweet potatoes mashed, mushrooms, and pomegranate.

I've also tried their spicy sausage pizza, cooked in a firewood oven, which offers a delicious thin crust and amazing flavor.

But what really stands out for me is their gnocchi bolognese with ricotta.

Honestly, it's the best gnocchi I've ever had in my life!

Another dish I've enjoyed is the bistecca alla fiorentina, which is quite a large portion and can easily feed two people.

I once ordered their burger, and I was not disappointed!

The beef was juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection.

The Vermont cheddar, bacon, and sautéed onions were a scrumptious combo.

I never knew what I was missing out on until I tried the grilled pizza at Coals.

This unique style of pizza is super thin and crispy, making it a refreshing change from the usual pizza places.

My absolute favorite is the Dean Martin, which comes loaded with huge slices of pepperoni.

What truly sets Coals apart, however, are their mouth-watering wings.

The cilantro flavor has always been my top pick, but the Buffalo and maple rosemary are equally fantastic.

Pairing these with one of their fresh salads and creative cocktails make for a fantastic dining experience.

You might think it can't get any better, but just wait until you try the Nutella pizza for dessert!

The quirky vibe of the place, with various paintings and memorabilia, adds to the overall charm and makes you feel right at home.

I recently decided to try out La Picante Fine Foods, a newly opened restaurant in our local mall.

Being inquisitive and always eager to try freshly made dishes, I went there with some friends and family.

The place is small and cozy, featuring counter service and a space nearby with tables.

I was excited to try their homemade tagliatelli and was pleased when it was served up relatively quickly, nice, and hot.

The pasta tasted fresh and was cooked perfectly al dente.

I couldn't help but devour every last bit!

My family members also enjoyed their meals, with my son raving about the rigatoni and even claiming that he could drive from Antarctica to La Picante ten times just for it!

While there were a few mixed reviews, I believe that the majority of us had a good experience at La Picante Fine Foods.

It's so rare to find such genuine hospitality these days, and it truly made me feel welcome.

I arrived around 1:40 pm on a weekday, and the buffet looked amazing.

The Churrasco (Brazilian bbq) was particularly impressive – the meats were fresh, tasty, and of excellent quality.

One thing to note is that during lunchtime, the checkout lines can get quite long.

What really sets Rincon Taqueria apart for me is their delicious tamales.

As soon as you enter, you can feel the warm and family-friendly environment that Kazu has created.

The service is definitely one of the restaurant's highlights.

Their sushi has always been a delight to my taste buds, although I must admit that it may not be the best sushi I've ever had.

But considering we are 1000 miles from the ocean, it's pretty decent.
