Bat Cave Gastro Pub

I've come to appreciate the many unique spots it has to offer, and Bat Cave Gastro Pub is no exception.

It's a cool, grungy spot with a relaxed vibe that you can't help but love.

Their menu is extensive, offering a great selection of brews and dishes to enjoy.

To help navigate their beer list, I would recommend using the on-tap app.

One thing I can't get enough of is their pork sliders.

They're absolutely fantastic.

Another standout is their calamari.

The indoor space may be a bit tight, but they've got plenty of comfortable seating outside, equipped with fans and a TV for entertainment.

The soundtrack they have playing really sets the atmosphere, making you want to come back time and again.

During one of our visits, my partner went for the BAT sandwich, and I opted for the gastro burger.

Both meals were incredibly tasty, and we're eager to return and try their other menu and beer options.

Aya Mediterranean Cuisine

If you've yet to try Aya Mediterranean Cuisine, you're truly missing out.

This gem, tucked away in the heart of The Old Melbourne Downtown area, is an authentic culinary experience that will transport you straight to the Mediterranean shores.

A visit to their website will give you a taste of what to expect.

You're instantly drawn in by the tantalizing aromas wafting from the open kitchen, where the chef meticulously prepares each dish just as they are ordered - a testament to their commitment to freshness and quality.

The menu is a medley of traditional Mediterranean flavors.

I remember my first bite of their lamb; it was a delightful surprise.

I'm not generally a fan of lamb, but this one was unlike any I've tasted before.

It lacked the gamey taste that usually turns me off, and I found myself savoring every morsel.

The hot appetizer sampler was another hit.

I especially loved the potatoes and cheese rolls and the meat pies were spiced just right.

Mustard's Famous Hot Dogs

I've got this favorite hangout spot in the city, Mustard's Famous Hot Dogs.

It's this neat little joint nestled right here, where they serve these amazing hot dogs and fries.

And guess what?

They've got a pretty quirky eat-in space and some cool outdoor seats too.

Here's the thing - you get a lot of bang for your buck here.

Once, I remember ordering a ton and only paying 22 bucks for two drinks and all the food.

I still think about the delicious hot dogs we had that day.

And they aren't just good at serving people.

When I took my little pup along, they served her fresh, cold water in a cute little water bowl.

It's those little things that keep pulling you back, you know?

Not only are the hot dogs at Mustard's delicious, but the place itself is quite charming.

It's one of those small, hole-in-the-wall type places that always seem to be buzzing with business.

What's impressive is the speed at which they get orders out.

And the variety in the menu - oh boy!

The hot dogs are delicious, and the buns are so soft.

Now, if you haven't tried their chili polish hotdogs with cheese, you haven't tasted heaven yet.

Olympia Cafe

It was an average Tuesday when I stumbled upon Olympia Cafe.

The moment I walk in the door, I can attest to the comfortable atmosphere and the enticing aroma of traditional Greek food.

It's tucked away in a corner of Melbourne, a gem I wasn't aware of despite living in the area for years.

You can check them out here.

Their gyros are a must-try!

The deliciousness of the meat and the freshness of the vegetables wrapped in warm pita bread - it's a perfect meal.

And the mousaka, oh my!

It's a comforting dish that would make you feel like you're in Greece.

The portions are just perfect, the prices are fair, and the food tastes so fresh.

Drews Brews and Grille

Rolled into Drews Brews and Grille this evening, parking was a bit of a challenge, but let me tell you, it was worth it.

The menu caught our attention with an extensive selection of delicious-sounding dishes, but one item stood out - the "Big Bertha" burger.

The tantalizing picture on the menu sealed the deal for us.

To kick things off, we ordered some beers and the beer cheese pretzels.

What a delight they were!

A perfect balance of a crispy exterior with a soft, warm interior, and the cheese, while labeled as IPA (which I typically steer clear of), was surprisingly mild and incredibly tasty.

Now, coming to the main attraction - the burger.

I consider myself a bit of a burger aficionado, often going out of my way to sample the best burger joints in the city.

It's quite possibly the best burger I've had in Central Florida, maybe even further.

The perfectly cooked, juicy Angus beef patty was a symphony of flavors, cooked exactly to the temperature I requested.

Phở Thien Vietnamese Kitchen

You know, living in Melbourne has its perks, and one of them is having access to some of the best pho in the city at Phở Thien Vietnamese Kitchen.

I'm a lover of pho, and I've been missing out on a good bowl until I stumbled upon this gem.

The pho here is so delicious I wish it were closer to my home; I find myself making up excuses to be in the area just for a quick bowl.

Not just the pho, I also enjoy their egg rolls and spring rolls; both offer a burst of flavors that leave me wanting more.

The bahn mi here is equally tantalizing, I often get one packed to enjoy at home.

The food here is always fresh and super delicious.

Chumley's Depot

When you walk into Chumley's Depot, you're immediately welcomed with a familiar, friendly atmosphere.

It's like walking into an episode of 'Cheers', where everyone knows your name and is always glad you came.

Over the years, this place has become my most beloved spot for some wing action.

I remember 4 years ago, I wasn't as impressed, but this place has evolved tremendously, and my rating of it has too.

What makes Chumley's Depot stand out?

It's their wings.

Cooked to absolute perfection, each bite is a flavor bomb.

Salt & Sweet Restaurant

Let me tell you about this gem I recently discovered in my own beloved city.

It's a cozy little place, Salt & Sweet Restaurant, tucked away like a well-kept secret.

You can find more about it here.

The place has this boutique decor that gives off a warm and inviting atmosphere, with just the right amount of dim lighting to set the mood.

I must say that the food is an absolute delight!

I took a chance with the sampler and the Zrazy Polskie, and boy, was I in for a treat!

The keilbasa and pierogis were the stars of the evening, I could eat them all day.

And don't even get me started on the white bean soup, the flavor was so good it left me craving for more.

But the one thing that really stood out to me was how it all felt so homey.

I hail from Ukraine, and the taste of the dishes at Salt & Sweet Restaurant took me right back to my roots.

It felt as if I was having a family dinner back home, comfort food at its finest.

What added to this feeling was the excellent service.

I was so impressed that I couldn't wait to share this wonderful place with my friends, I recommended it to them even before we got the bill.

I'm certain Salt & Sweet Restaurant will become a regular spot for our catch-up sessions.

I can't believe it took me this long to discover this place, but better late than never, right?

I'm already looking forward to my next visit - which will be very, very soon!

Archie's British Restaurant

One evening, a friend of mine mentioned a new spot in the city, Archie's British Restaurant.

Tucked away next to Dunkin Donuts, it was a hidden gem I had to try out.

Needless to say, that visit was the first of many.

You see, Archie's isn't your typical restaurant.

It's got a friendly, pub-like vibe that's very unique for Melbourne.

But what truly sets it apart is the food.

I remember my first order, Fried Mushrooms with their signature yellow curry sauce, a plate of classic Fish & Chips, a Bacon Cheeseburger, and some shooters to wash it all down.

Believe me, everything tasted as good as it sounds.

Mr. & Mrs. Crab

Just another weekend in Melbourne, and I found myself craving some quality seafood.

Naturally, the first place that popped into my mind was Mr. & Mrs. Crab, a place I've come to trust for some finger-licking seafood goodness.

You can check out their menu and more on their website here.

Their raw oysters are a must-try for any seafood lover.

Every time I've ordered these, they've been super fresh, served ice cold, just the way I like them.

The shrimp, another favorite of mine, is always crispy and loaded with flavor.

If you're looking for something a bit more rich and comforting, their mac and cheese never disappoints, always creamy and delectable.

But the main star here, in my opinion, is the boil.

Packed with sausage, clams, potatoes, and corn, it's a hearty meal that never fails to satisfy.

You can choose your own seasoning and spice level - I usually go for the garlic butter with a touch of mild spice.

The flavor profile is just incredible, and it's a dish I find myself craving pretty often.

It's got a cool, relaxed vibe with some pretty neat decorations.

One of the perks of dining here after 7 pm is their half-price offer on draft alcohol and certain appetizers.

It's a great deal that I often take advantage of.

The Dove III Restaurant

You know what they say about Italian food, right?

It's not just a cuisine, it's an experience.

And boy, did I have an experience at The Dove III Restaurant!

To say it was absolutely fantastic would be an understatement.

This place is a little slice of Italy right in our city.

As soon as you walk in, you instantly feel the warm ambiance and the elegance of the room.

It's not your typical loud, bustling Italian joint - it's much more refined and relaxed.

I still dream about the linguini carbonara that I savored that night.

Perfectly cooked, with a rich, creamy sauce that was simply out of this world.

Mind you, every dish is served with a hearty pasta fagioli soup - a definite treat.

And let's not forget, this place is popular!

It's almost always fully booked, so making a reservation is a must.

But trust me, it's worth it.

It's a dining experience that you just can't miss.

Meg O’Malley's Restaurant & Irish Pub

After a long day, there's nothing I enjoy more than unwinding at Meg O’Malley's Restaurant & Irish Pub.

From the moment you step inside, you're transported to the heart of Ireland, with its vibrant atmosphere and authentic decor.

If you happen to visit on a crowded Friday evening, don't fret about the wait time, it's never as bad as expected.

Once seated, you're in for a culinary adventure that begins with a curious delicacy, their 18-cent Irish bean parliament soup.

Don't let the price fool you, it's a tasty appetizer and quite filling for just a couple of dimes.

One of my go-to dishes here is the fish and chips.

I usually don't partake in fish and chips, but theirs is exceptional.

The fish is always fresh, encased in a light, crispy breading, and served with equally delicious and hot chips.

When family and friends come to visit, Meg's is always on the itinerary.

It's a local favorite, especially for a late lunch.

Backwater

There's something special about Backwater that makes it my regular breakfast spot.

It has a certain rustic charm with its in-table griddles and all-day Southern-style suppers.

Nothing beats the smell of pancakes flipping over on the griddle table in the morning.

These tables aren't just for show, they're fully functional, and you can cook your own pancakes right there!

Once, I remember walking in on a busy Friday morning and deciding to sit at the bar.

I ordered their seasonal pancakes - they happened to be pumpkin that day - and a side of biscuits and gravy.

The pancakes were a delight, as always, but what blew me away was the gravy.

It was perhaps the best sausage gravy I've ever tasted!

What sets Backwater apart from other local breakfast joints is the inclusion of a vegan-friendly menu.

They make vegan pancakes which are quite popular, and I've seen a lot of people enjoying their vegan gravy too.

Another thing that makes Backwater stand out is the variety of drinks they serve.

Once, I saw they had my favorite beer, the Crooked Can Florida Sunshine, on tap.

It was tempting, but it was 8:30 in the morning, so I had to resist.

For families, the griddle tables are a hit, making the meal both delicious and fun.

The Roots Restaurant Tavern

I've had the pleasure of visiting The Roots Restaurant Tavern - a pretty special spot around here.

You should check them out on their website, by the way.

One memorable experience was when I sunk my teeth into their chicken and waffles.

The unique blend of flavors was just divine, and those fries?

Fried to perfection!

Now that's a dish I'll always come back for.

The real gem here lies in their breakfast menu.

I've been here twice for that, and it just keeps getting better.

There's the basic two eggs and two pancakes combo with the most delightful corned beef hash I've ever tasted.

The eggs were just right, the pancakes had that satisfying feel, and the hash?

Not too greasy, not too mushy, but just right.

Me-n-Tito's Mexican Grill

I have to say, Me-n-Tito's Mexican Grill is my go-to spot when I'm craving some delicious and fresh Mexican food.

This place might be a bit off the beaten path, but let me tell you, it's worth the detour.

I remember my first visit there.

I got the layered enchilada, and my friend opted for the soft tacos.

The food was prepared right in front of us, and we could choose our toppings.

The chips, made on-site, were incredibly crunchy - a true delight.

They were so friendly and accommodating we felt right at home.

Every visit since has been just as impressive.

The restaurant is always spotless, from the drink area to the tables.

The food never fails to impress, particularly the carnita meat.

It's full of flavor and so tender I can never get enough.

The portion sizes are generous, and the meals are served with a handful of homemade chips and a tantalizing churro.

Mangetsu

There's a certain charm to Mangetsu, a Pan-Asian eatery located right here in our very own Melbourne.

As a patron who values a diverse menu, Mangetsu is the perfect match.

It offers an intoxicating mix of Korean, Thai, and Japanese cuisine, giving you the opportunity to savor everything from tableside BBQ to sushi, all in a comfortable and homey atmosphere.

Though I've been dining at Mangetsu for quite some time, each visit feels like a new experience, a new adventure.

Cleanliness and generous portions are another highlight of Mangetsu.

With reasonable prices and an inviting ambiance, it's no wonder that this place is a local favorite.

And oh, you simply can't leave without trying their fried cheesecake - it's divine!

Fiesta Azul Tequila House

I am fortunate to have Fiesta Azul Tequila House just around the corner, a place where I've savored some of the best Mexican food I've ever had.

A typical night at Fiesta Azul often begins with a plate of their tantalizing Pastor tacos, perfectly seasoned and packed full of flavor.

The table-side guacamole is an absolute must, fresh and tangy, and the perfect accompaniment to any dish.

When they offer you their house-made chips and salsa, don't hesitate.

Their green salsa and the mango salsa are a burst of flavor and spice, the latter offering a fruity twist to the traditional recipe.

The experience doesn't stop at the food, though.

Their drink options are just as impressive.

The tequilas and margaritas will have you lingering longer than you expected, each sip a testament to the restaurant's namesake.

But the crown jewel of Fiesta Azul has to be its delightful desserts.

They are the perfect cap to a satisfying meal, and you'd be remiss not to leave room for them.

The atmosphere is open and airy, always clean, and extra bustling on busy nights.

Asado by The Grand Manor

Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting Asado by The Grand Manor, a new restaurant in the city, during their soft opening.

The ambiance at Asado by The Grand Manor here was a delightful blend of fun and class.

The mood lighting set the perfect balance between romantic and upscale without it being too dark to read the menu.

I appreciate the thoughtfulness put into creating such a balanced atmosphere.

Moving on to the food - the charcuterie board stood out due to the quality of the meats and cheese and the unique pickled peppers.

The Caesar salads were plentiful and tasty, and the bread was amazing (I'm not typically a bread person).

The cilantro aioli, pickled red onions, and chimichurri provided with the bread were also delightful.

Thai Kitchen

My love for Thai cuisine takes me to different places, but one eatery that captures my taste buds like no other is Thai Kitchen.

The restaurant has a simple space where traditional Thai food like lemongrass noodles and papaya salad, among other dishes, is served.

The food here is always top-notch, and every bite tends to transport me to the kingdom of Siam itself.

The tofu that they prepare might not be my personal favorite, but their meat dishes are sublime.Their Tom Yum soup is fantastic, a respectable tribute to the classic Thai dish.

I often find myself there, not just for the food, but also for the cozy and calm atmosphere.

The fried tofu with chili sauce is another one of my favorites there.

If you're in the area around lunchtime, they have some excellent lunch specials.

It's a real treat to indulge in their midday offerings.

Hemingway's Tavern

Every place has that one spot that you just can't get enough of.

For me, that's Hemingway's Tavern.

I love going here because of its chill ambiance, perfect to unwind with friends after a long day of work.

The eclectic menu inspired by Ernest Hemingway is just the cherry on top.

Last Friday, I decided to meet up with some friends and enjoy a delicious meal together.

The Cuban sandwich I had was absolutely scrumptious!

The melt-in-your-mouth ham, tender pork, Swiss cheese, and pickles served on a warm toasted roll was a symphony of flavors.

And the lobster bisque that my friend had?

Heavenly.

The rich, creamy soup with chunks of sweet lobster meat was pure perfection.

We were all so impressed with the food that we're planning to meet up here again this coming Friday.

Their Buffalo jerk wings are something that you should try too.

They may seem a bit bland, but believe me, they're the most tender wings you'll ever have in your life.

The meat easily comes off the bone, making it a real treat.

As for the entrees, my usual go-to dish is the blackened snapper sandwich.

It's excellently done, the fillet is tender and moist, and it comes with a spicy sauce that adds a flavorful kick.

But it's not just the food that makes Hemingway's Tavern a must-visit.

It's also fantastic service.

They told us it would take 25 minutes, but we were pleasantly surprised when our food arrived in just 15 minutes.
