JSI Grill

There's always something magical about driving off the beaten path and discovering a hidden gem.

That's exactly what happened to me when I stumbled upon JSI Grill.

Don't get me wrong, when you're winding down unfamiliar roads, you might start second-guessing your GPS.

But trust me, keep driving, you're on the right track.

JSI is a cosy little place that's been around less than a year but it's already making waves with its splendid offerings.

It's got a signature dish that is nothing short of sensational: the fried chicken.

I'm telling you, this isn't just any fried chicken, it's some of the best I've ever had.

Each bite is a culinary journey - crispy on the outside, succulent on the inside, and utterly delicious.

While their fried chicken might steal the show, don't sleep on the rest of their menu.

The mac n' cheese tastes like it's straight from your grandmother's kitchen, and the mashed potatoes, complete with white gravy, are a taste of comfort food heaven.

But if you're like me and love a good steak, then set your sights on the chicken fried steak.

It's superbly tasty and will leave you craving more.

Believe it or not, the surprises don't stop with the food.

I, for one, can't wait to see their dream become a reality.

I have no doubt they'll sell out every trip!

There's one more thing you should know if you're planning a visit.

Parking can be a bit tricky.

Here's a local tip: just head a block down and park in the Lincoln Community Center parking lot.

Buffalo Indian Restaurant

"There's no love sincerer than the love of food," said George Bernard Shaw.

If you're a food lover like me and have been on the hunt for some authentic Indian cuisine, then look no further than the Buffalo Indian Restaurant.

Nestled just off I-80 in Laramie WY, this place is a hidden gem that's sure to satisfy your cravings for rich Indian flavors.

My last visit to the Buffalo Indian Restaurant was nothing short of delightful.

Starting off with some appetizing samosas served with various delectable sauces, I was immediately taken aback by their wonderful taste.

Next up was the chili chicken - a spice lover's dream!

Its perfect blend of heat and savory flavors had me reaching for more.

But, the real star of the meal was the butter chicken paired with the garlic naan - it was divine!

The chicken was tender and the gravy just melted into the fluffy naan.

The serving dishes, beautiful and authentic, were a cherry on top of an already amazing meal.

I also ventured into trying their vegetable curry.

The vegetables were cooked to perfection, maintaining their crunch whilst absorbing the heat and flavors from the curry.

To balance out the heat, I rounded off the meal with a refreshing mango lassi - a traditional Indian yoghurt-based drink.

I must mention the portions too!

They're generous and perfect for sharing or even having leftovers for the next day (if you can resist finishing it all at once).

Sweet Melissa

It's not every day you stumble upon a place as remarkable as Sweet Melissa, where every dish is a flavorful adventure.

You may think it's just another meatless eatery, but trust me, it's anything but ordinary.

From the moment I walked in, the warm, inviting ambiance swept me off my feet.

The relaxed, chilled-out vibe is perfect for everything from a laid-back lunch to a casual date night.

The gourmet hummus sandwiches and the organic beers are the perfect combination for a refreshing summer afternoon.

But what has truly stolen my heart is the chipotle raspberry ravioli.

The sweet tanginess of the raspberries complemented by the smoky heat of the chipotle is a flavor explosion that's worth every bite.

And if you're a fan of heat, the jerk ravioli is an absolute must-try.

Served with peppers and plantains, it's a fusion of flavors that will leave you craving more.

Don't even get me started on the desserts.

The fried banana bread is a sweet symphony of flavors that is simply unforgettable.

And if you're anything like me, you won't be able to resist the peanut butter pie either.

However, don't miss out on the key lime pie next time you're there.

It's truly a slice of paradise.

J's Prairie Rose

One day, amidst the bustle of the everyday routine, I stumbled upon a haven of comfort food, right here in my hometown.

It was J's Prairie Rose, a cheery pink establishment tucked away in a cozy corner of the city.

Entering its retro-themed room was like walking into a delicious memory from the past, where the aroma of hearty breakfast burritos wafted in the air, welcoming you into the warmth.

As a creature of habit, the breakfast burrito has always been my go-to order.

And let me tell you, the burritos here are to die for!

Stuffed with a generous helping of eggs, cheese, and a selection of meats, it is just the right blend of flavors to kickstart any day on a high note.

Accompanied with a steaming cup of coffee, it has become a ritual I cherish.

But that's not all.

J's Prairie Rose has a lot more to offer.

Every now and then, I like to switch things up with their biscuits and gravy or the chicken fried steak.

Their comfort food has a way of turning a bad day around, and has been my reliable companion through many ups and downs.

And the cherry on top?

Quite literally, their homemade cherry pie a la mode!

This delightful dessert is a sweet ending to a comforting meal and a must-try for anyone visiting the establishment.

Andale Rapido

It isn't just a frigid winter day in Wyoming that draws me to Andale Rapido.

This popular Mexican eatery has become a firm favorite in our city and is the perfect place for those seeking a welcome reprieve from the cold.

I've always been a fan of Mexican cuisine, and although I'm a long way from Texas, stepping foot into Andale Rapido instantly transports me back to the Lone Star State.

What's the first thing you notice when you walk in?

It's the casual, fast-food vibe that reminds me of home.

But don't be fooled, the food here is anything but ordinary.

The nachos topped with perfectly seasoned beef is always a crowd-pleaser.

The chips are fresh, crispy, and generously loaded with ingredients.

The best part?

No greasy residue to contend with.

On a cold day, there's truly no better comfort food.

What sets Andale Rapido apart is their attention to detail.

The tables come pre-set with a bottle of Cholula hot sauce, ready to fire up your meal.

If you're a fan of Mexican food, you'll appreciate this small, but impactful gesture.

However, it's not just the food that draws the locals in.

There's always a buzz in the air, and it's not uncommon to find the place filled to the brim!

While more seating would be great, I take it as a testament to the popularity of this place.

A word of advice though, if you're planning a visit in summer, be prepared for a warm welcome - in more ways than one!

Each visit to Andale Rapido is a culinary journey that reminds me of my Texas roots.

It's the perfect way to bring a little heat to a Wyoming winter.

3rd Street Bar & Grill

If there's one place I can count on for a great night, it's the 3rd Street Bar & Grill.

A staple in the city, this bar has never disappointed.

Start your evening off with their wings - many of my friends and I swear they're the best in the city, and the price just sweetens the deal.

And the drinks?

Well, let's just say they're not skimpy on their pours.

I've lost count of the times I've witnessed newcomers' surprise at the generous serving of their favorite drinks.

Honestly, part of the charm is the friendly service.

The bartender always has a welcoming smile and the crowd is just the right mix of locals and visitors.

It's just the perfect place to unwind on any given evening, be it a quiet Wednesday or a lively weekend.

And to top it all off, it's not uncommon to find local talent gracing the venue.

Trust me, nothing beats enjoying a drink while listening to great live music.

Oh, and before you leave, don't forget to grab a copy of The Laramie Boomerang, a fantastic local independent newspaper.

Anong's

Whenever my hiking boots are dusted from a long, exhilarating day of exploration, there's one place I always find myself gravitating towards: Anong's Thai Restaurant.

It's like a beacon, luring me in with promises of spectacular flavors and comforting Thai warmth.

You know what's great?

I rarely have to wait to be seated.

Usually, I'm ushered to a table within 10 minutes, served by Pikky, who never fails to bring a smile with her attentive service.

Every dish at Anong's is a testament to the mastery of Thai cuisine.

They serve portions that leave you satisfied, not stuffed, allowing you to enjoy a variety of dishes.

The flavor profiles are excellent - always delivering that perfect balance of sweet, spicy, and savory that Thai food is famous for.

My favorites are their basil chicken and sesame chicken dishes.

The basil chicken is an aromatic delight, with a sweet yet spicy taste, accompanied by the freshest of vegetables.

The crispy sesame chicken, on the other hand, is a crunchy treat that never disappoints.

Aside from their meat delights, Anong's also caters to their vegetarian and vegan patrons with a good selection of plant-based dishes.

These are not just bland imitations, but dishes full of flavor, cooked to perfection.

The vegetables are never overcooked, retaining their natural crunch while the sauces, albeit slightly watery, burst with flavor.

The restaurant has a lively ambiance, especially on a Sunday evening.

Hambone's Pizza

Walking through the doors of Hambone's Pizza in Laramie always feels like stepping into a haven of warmth and good cheer, where the inviting aroma of freshly baked pizzas immediately whisks you away from the mundane routines of daily life.

Every time I visit, I find myself drawn to 'The Works' pizza– an exquisite combination of flavors that never fails to impress my taste buds.

And when it comes to the cheesy bread- oh, it's simply divine!

Perfectly baked and generously topped with molten cheese, this delicacy instantly melts in your mouth, leaving you craving for more.

Despite being a local joint, Hambone's has a charm that sets it apart.

17th Street Cafe

When the craving for a hearty breakfast hits, there's no better place to satisfy it than the 17th Street Cafe.

Nestled in the heart of our city, this quaint cafe has become my go-to spot for those relaxed, lazy weekend mornings.

A bite of their delicious food transports me to a place of comfort and warmth.

The first time I stepped into the cafe, the intoxicating aroma of freshly brewed coffee and sizzling bacon enveloped me.

I decided to try their omelette, a dish I hold to a high standard.

While the omelette was indeed tasty, it was a bit different from the classic version I had expected.

It was more of a scramble folded over, with the cheese incorporated directly into the egg, missing that gooey melted texture I adore.

However, the flavors were balanced, albeit a tad salty for my palate.

On another visit, I tried their biscuits and gravy - the biscuit was impeccable, but once again, the gravy was a touch too salty.

One thing to note, though, is that they only serve breakfast on the weekends.

I learned this the hard way when I tried to order a burger for lunch one Saturday.

But worry not - their breakfast menu is extensive and will definitely keep your taste buds entertained.

One of my favorite dishes from the cafe has to be their breakfast enchiladas with homemade green chili - a divine blend of flavors that had me licking my plate clean.

The special of the day was an oreo pancake, a delightful twist to the classic pancake, ensuring that your sweet tooth is also taken care of.

Accomplice Mycro-Pub!

Twinkling lights of downtown Laramie, a bustling corner, and the enticing aroma of unique eats pulled me into Accomplice Mycro-Pub.

It's an unpretentious spot with a well-worn charm that adds to the homely vibe.

A bit rustic, you might say, but that certainly doesn't take away from the experience; in fact, it only adds to it.

With an array of about 12 beers on tap, it's a beer lover's delight.

I’ve always been partial to IPAs and their double IPA does not disappoint – it hits just the right note.

But surprisingly, the food is what really steals the show here.

The chicken club sandwich, shared with my partner on a casual Friday night, was nothing short of a culinary masterpiece.

Every bite was an explosion of flavor that had me craving more.

The regular fries were an unexpected hit, perfectly crisp, and the kale salad – a tangy mixture of crunchy kale, juicy fruits, and cheese – was a refreshing contrast to the hearty mains.

The pretzel with homemade beer cheese and the crispy fish and chips were other noteworthy mentions from our gastronomic adventures at the Accomplice Mycro-Pub.

The prices are reasonable too, making it a spot we tend to frequent for a satisfying meal.

Corona Village

Living in Laramie, Wyoming isn't all camping and rodeos - we've got some culinary gems hidden amongst the mountains!

One of my all-time favorites has to be Corona Village, an authentic Mexican restaurant nestled in the heart of our city.

Each visit to this vibrant eatery feels like a mini vacation, as the colorful setting and lively atmosphere immediately transport you to the sunny streets of Mexico.

One thing that never fails to impress me at Corona Village, is how quickly they get their chips and salsa to the table.

It's as if the moment you take your seat, the deliciously crunchy chips and tangy salsa magically appear before you.

The portions are incredibly generous and the service is always fast and friendly.

While the menu is a tantalizing array of classic Mexican dishes, I must say, the Pelayo’s platter is one that always leaves me raving.

Priced at just $23.50, this platter is an indulgent mix of cheesy, satisfying flavors.

And the rice?

It stands out, even on its own.

The food is so filling, I usually find myself packing up leftovers for the next day.

Oh, and their Top Shelf margaritas are a must-try.

Trust me, after one, you'll be savoring every sip and thinking twice about ordering a second.

Crowbar & Grill

There's something about the dimly lit ambience of the Crowbar & Grill that keeps me coming back again and again.

Nestled in the heart of Laramie, it's my go-to spot when the craving for creative burgers and pizzas hits me.

Every time I step into this joint, it feels like a small adventure.

The menu is diverse and intriguing - it's not every day that you see offerings like burger with Gouda or Pad Thai fries on a menu!

But trust me, the unusual combinations work surprisingly well.

The Sparrow, with its unique blend of ingredients, is one of my personal favorites.

Be it a bustling Friday night or a calm Tuesday afternoon, their attention to detail and promptness never waver.

And let's not forget the drinks - from craft brews to cocktails, there's something for every palate.

But what seals the deal for me is their truffle fries.

I'm not usually a fries person, but these are to die for!

Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and that distinctive truffle aroma - it's a sensory delight.

Born In A Barn

You know, there's just something about a frosty 32-ounce draft in a mason jar that feels like home.

Especially when you're tucking into it at Born In A Barn, a rustic sports bar nestled in the heart of Laramie.

This place, it's got an old-school charm that blends well with the woodsy decor.

And when it comes to their burgers and wings!

Man, let me tell you about the Jonny Cash burger.

It hits your taste buds with a spice kick that's just right - easily one of the best burgers of all time.

I've been coming here for years and it never disappoints.

The menu isn't massive, but they sure do know their game.

Everything they serve, they serve it well.

They've even got a sign on the wall from Guy Fieri himself, imagine that!

And if you're a fan of crispy, hot fries paired with an impeccable fry sauce, this place won't let you down.

Take it from me, this isn't just another sports bar with a patio; it's a local treasure.

This place is more than just a brewpub, it's a sanctuary of good food, craft beers, and laid-back fun.

You walk into this place, and instantly, the laid-back atmosphere envelopes you, instantly setting a chill vibe that's hard to resist.

The pizza here will blow your mind, so will the prices.

It's not a hyperbole when I say their pizza is the best in Laramie, Wyoming.

The toppings, the crust and the sauce, everything just bursts with flavor.

There's this one guy, Richard, who is always present with a smile and ensures the service is top-notch.

It's these little things that make you appreciate the place even more.

Alongside this, they also offer an array of other grub options.

The fish and chips, the burgers, the crispy fries, everything is just so delightfully good and easy on your stomach.

And the best part?

It's all fairly priced.

They have a certain policy around pets and do not allow dogs on the patio.

Sushi Boat & Korean BBQ

Believe it or not, tucked away in Laramie, Wyoming, you can discover an array of tantalizing Asian cuisines.

Who would have thought?

Let me take you on a journey to a little corner of my city called Sushi Boat & Korean BBQ.

Now, I must confess that the restaurant’s exterior may not be the most eye-catching, but don’t let that influence your decision.

Look past this, and you’ll find an eclectic menu that merges the rich flavors of Chinese, Korean, and Japanese food.

One of my personal favorites is the beef fried rice, a hearty dish that never fails to satisfy my taste buds.

One surprising gem on the menu is their sushi.

The baked salmon roll, despite its smaller size, packs a powerful punch of flavor.

It’s the kind of sushi that has you instantly craving more.

Aside from the delectable food, there’s something charming about the place.

It's a cozy spot where locals like me can share a meal and enjoy the friendly service.

Altitude Chophouse & Brewery

I can still recall the succulent taste of the Gouda burger from my last visit to the Altitude Chophouse & Brewery.

The heft of the thick and juicy patty, perfectly cooked, could satisfy the heartiest of appetites.

And what's a burger without a hearty serving of fries?

Portion size here never disappoints, I've always walked away with a satisfyingly full stomach.

There was only one minor setback - my burger was missing a sauce.

But hey, it might just be me.

I've always been a big sauce guy.

The interior is spacious and carries a posh vibe that you won't expect from a casual eatery.

The drink selection is an added delight.

From your classic cocktails to an interesting array of beers, the refreshing beverages perfectly complement the grub.

The ribeye steak, however, is an absolute game-changer.

Cooked to perfection and seasoned to tantalize your tastebuds, it's easily one of the best in the city, and for a price that won't make your wallet weep.

Mizu Sushi

Whenever the craving for sushi hits me, my instinct is to head on over to Mizu Sushi.

Nestled in a cozy spot in Laramie, Wyoming, this polished, tranquil eatery has cemented its place in my heart with its delicious sushi rolls and array of Japanese and Vietnamese dishes.

I remember the first time I stepped into Mizu Sushi, the ambiance immediately caught my attention.

It was the perfect blend of elegance and tranquility and made for a great date spot.

Over time, I've noticed that they could do with a bit of a refresh, especially their beverage menu.

It's high time they give it a new and clean look.

There's something about their sushi that just hits the spot.

It is excellent and by far one of the two best spots for sushi in Laramie.

Trust me, that's not a statement I make lightly.

A friend who graduated from WY law school agrees with me on this.

On days when I'm not in the mood for sushi, I opt for Vietnamese Pho.

Mizu Sushi may not specialize in Pho, but they do a decent job.

As someone with a Vietnamese background, I could tell their Pho is catered more for the American palette, but it's passable and quite enjoyable.

One dish that's worth mentioning is their teriyaki beef.

Served with a side of miso soup and a small salad, their beef is cooked to perfection and their teriyaki sauce, though a tad thin, has just the right amount of flavor.

The tempura fried vegetables are a delight, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

The tempura shrimp is something I would recommend, hands down the most tender piece of shrimp I've ever had.

Taking everything into account, Mizu Sushi does a commendable job in offering a unique dining experience with its combination of Japanese and Vietnamese dishes.

And let's not forget their tropical cocktails, a perfect blend of exotic flavors that transport you to a tropical paradise.

Over the years, Niko has become my go-to restaurant, a sanctuary where I can enjoy a clean and delightful meal.

The California popper and the Audi roll are an absolute must-try.

The house salad, dressed with a zingy wasabi dressing, is so good it just might steal the show.

The dining area may not be sprawling, but the chill atmosphere more than makes up for it.

The service here is nothing short of excellent—prompt and friendly.

And the variety!

Sushi rolls, hibachi, udon noodles, you name it.

My personal favorite is their premium sake.

Now, that's what I call top-notch service!

However, I must admit, their vegetable roll did disappoint me once.

Imagine flat tater tots stuffed with cheese and green chiles that slap your taste buds with a riot of flavors - well, that's them.

If you're feeling up for it, their potato-crusted turkey club is a must-try too.

Oh, and their plain cheeseburger with an impossible patty is just as delicious.

But the food is just one part of the Lovejoy experience.

I'll never forget the first time I went there.

Even the bartender, Maddie, despite managing a busy bar and other tables, made sure we were well taken care of.

Lovejoy's Bar & Grill - it's more than just a dining place, it's an experience etched in the heart of this city.

You get to enjoy good food, a great atmosphere, and the kindness of strangers who might just pay it forward and cover your meal.

Feels like home, doesn't it?
