Sushi Fire

Let me take you on a culinary journey, one where every bite is a delight.

It starts right here in Fullerton at a sushi hotspot known as Sushi Fire.

It was an ordinary evening when I first walked into Sushi Fire, but the experience was far from ordinary.

The sushi menu was a treasure trove of delectable delights.

From the fresh delicacy of salmon and Toro to the flavorful surprise of Japan scallops, live oysters, and uni.

But it was the chef's special rolls that stole my heart.

They were a delightful surprise of unique flavor combinations, expertly crafted into edible art.

When it comes to sushi, the freshness of the fish can make or break your experience.

At Sushi Fire, each morsel was a testament to freshness, melting in my mouth and bursting with flavor.

But the exceptional food was just part of the story.

The customer service was a class apart.

I've had my share of meals at Sushi Fire now, and it's the consistency that keeps me coming back.

The udon, with its clear broth and subtle sweet and smoky notes, is some of the best I've had, and all the rolls I've tried have been scrumptious.

And if you're a tea fanatic like me, the hot tea here is a must-try.

Over time, I developed a few favorites.

The Demon Roll and Japanese Lasagna, which has cream cheese, are definite crowd-pleasers.

Other items like the Kamikaze, Double Salmon, Shrimp Lover, and Bake Scallop are equally enticing.

Chicana Vegana

There's nothing quite like the moment you sink your teeth into a delicious taco from Chicana Vegana.

This little gem hidden in the heart of the city has become my go-to spot for indulging in scrumptious vegan Mexican cuisine.

It’s truly a haven for foodies of all types, serving up a diverse array of plant-based delicacies that cater to every palate.

Walking into Chicana Vegana feels like stumbling upon a hip, off-the-beaten-path taco joint.

Their level of customer service is second to none, with a team who goes above and beyond to ensure every single customer's experience is memorable.

The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, so you can choose to enjoy your meal inside or out on the back patio, depending on the weather and your mood.

But let's talk about the food.

Everything on the menu is absolutely phenomenal, but the vegan Al Pastor tacos are a particular standout.

The flavors in the tacos are beautifully balanced and they taste so good, it's hard to believe they're plant-based!

The nachos are another favorite, with their cashew cheese and cashew sour cream being amazingly smooth and flavorful, without being overly nutty or chalky.

And don't even get me started on their refreshingly tasty aguas frescas.

What I really appreciate is the fact that even though it's a packed house most of the time, the wait for the food is never too long.

The Good Fish and Noodles

Every time I pass by The Good Fish and Noodles, I am drawn in by the tantalizing aromas of freshly prepared sushi, ramen, and other savory delicacies.

It's a neighborhood gem that never fails to impress with its diverse menu and high-quality ingredients.

I've been frequenting this spot for years now and it has never lost its charm.

One cool day, I remember walking in just as the chill was getting to me.

I warmed up instantly with a cup of their outstanding winter melon tea, which I often enjoy with a side of fresh boba.

The tea is a refreshing starter that primes your palate for the feast ahead.

I'm a huge sushi fan, and their California rolls are a must-try.

Filled with succulent crab meat and perfectly ripe avocado, these rolls are a delightful mix of flavors that will get you hooked.

For the adventurous foodies, their dumplings in chili sauce pack a punch and are utterly addictive.

Their tonkotsu ramen is another crowd-pleaser.

The broth is so rich and comforting.

And the crispy Chashu, which was a surprise discovery for me, adds a unique twist to the traditional ramen bowl.

One of their standout dishes that I can't get enough of is the baked salmon.

Although slightly pricey, it's worth every penny and is large enough for two servings.

Pairing this with their fresh milk tea or green tea just caps off the dining experience perfectly.

Shorty'z

Just when you think you know every nook and cranny of your hometown, a hidden gem pops up and surprises you.

That was the case with Shorty'z, a low-key, modest American diner tucked away in Placentia.

And oh boy, does Shorty'z pack a punch with its menu!

You see, breakfast is a big deal for me, it sets the tone of my day.

I'm always on the hunt for the perfect breakfast burrito and let me tell you, the quest has been long and often disappointing.

That is until I stumbled upon Shorty'z.

I ordered their 'meats breakfast burrito', and it was nothing short of incredible!

So delicious, so filling, and absolutely not greasy.

I swear I could hear angelic choirs as I devoured it.

It was one of those meals where you’re so engrossed you forget to take a picture until you're almost done!

Not only did Shorty'z knock my socks off with their burrito epicness, but their pancakes also joined the ranks of 'the best I've ever had'.

Light and fluffy, just the way they should be.

Plus, their menu boasted an impressive array of options, including delightful picks like spinach and mushroom burritos and hearty omelets.

But what truly makes Shorty'z stand out is not just its fantastic food, but also the wonderful service.

It’s that kind of attention to detail and care that keeps me coming back weekend after weekend.

George's Hamburgers

It was just another Saturday morning, and I felt the familiar grumble in my stomach.

"George's Hamburgers," I whispered to myself, a smile spreading across my face.

I knew exactly what I wanted - that incredible breakfast burrito, a favorite of mine since I first tried it years ago.

George's is a family-owned gem that makes a mean breakfast burrito and has the most respectable French toast in the city.

The service, as always, was quick and excellent.

With one glance at the menu, I knew what I wanted.

The breakfast burrito was calling to me; the perfect blend of eggs, meat, and cheese wrapped in a soft tortilla.

It's the perfect breakfast fix, not too light, not too heavy, just right.

But what really sets George's apart is that they've truly mastered the art of French toast.

On some occasions, when I'm not in the mood for breakfast, I venture into their dinner menu.

Once, I had their steak sandwich, which was absolutely mouth-watering.

The meat was tender, the bread was fresh, and the flavor combination was simply out of this world.

Don't even get me started on their fast-food staples.

The burger, the onion rings, the fries - all impeccable.

I remember the first time I saw their fries and onion rings; it felt almost magical.

The fries were overflowing from the bag, and the onion rings seemed never-ending.

The taste, well, it’s just what you’d expect from a family-owned place.

Unique, warm, and satisfying.

Though George's is a cash-only place, they've recently started accepting credit and debit cards - just a small 3% fee, which is a small price to pay for the culinary delights they offer.

George's Hamburgers is more than just a place to grab a bite.

It's a venue that offers a unique dining experience, a chance to enjoy great food, and a place to feel like part of a family.

It's the sort of place where everyone knows your name, and they're always glad you came.

The menu boasts a variety of sushi rolls packed with protein and veggies - perfect for the health-conscious foodie!

And the best part?

Fish Daddy Grill

One bite into the fish and chips at Fish Daddy Grill in Fullerton, and you'll be hooked.

Perfectly cooked with a light and crispy batter encasing the tender, flaky fish, this dish has become my consistent favorite.

I've been visiting this seafood haven for a while now, and their commitment to using only the freshest ingredients has never wavered.

The menu here offers a variety of both grilled and fried seafood dishes.

As a regular, I've tried a plethora of dishes, including grilled salmon, white fish, and rainbow trout.

Each dish was nothing short of excellent, a testament to their culinary expertise.

And for those who like a little variety on their plate, the fish taco and the fried shrimp are both fantastic choices.

Always friendly and attentive, they're happy to provide recommendations if you're unsure of what to order.

Their suggestions have never failed to impress.

And for those of you who are conscious about portion sizes and prices, you'll be pleasantly surprised at Fish Daddy Grill.

The "simply grilled" portions are quite generous, and the prices are very reasonable.

And don't forget to try the garlic butter – it's incredibly tasty.

Even their fries and sweet potato fries are standouts; each bite a perfect blend of crunch and flavor.

Fuoco Pizzeria Napoletana

The aroma of wood-fired pizza wafts through the air as I step into Fuoco Pizzeria Napoletana, a charming family-run Italian restaurant nestled in the heart of Fullerton.

As a pizza lover, nothing beats their authentic Neapolitan-style pizzas which are a delight to my taste buds.

Every pizza at Fuoco is a spectacular tableau of flavor, with the crust baked to perfection in the real wood oven.

My personal favorite is the Fuoco pizza, topped with the finest imported mozzarella and prosciutto, their quality is unmatched.

There's something truly magical about biting into that warm, cheesy goodness with a perfectly charred crust.

Weekends at Fuoco can be bustling, so I often prefer weekday visits.

However, if you do visit on a Saturday night, like I once did, and find a long waiting line, I'd recommend the bar seating.

The bartender, Camie, always has an infectious positive attitude and is extremely helpful, making the wait worthwhile.

Besides their mouthwatering pizzas, Fuoco also excels in their panini and calzones.

And if you're in the mood for something lighter, their Spinach salad is an excellent choice.

But the hidden gem on their menu?

It's the Contadina pizza - do yourself a favor and order it on your next visit.

Summit House Restaurant

Upon entering the Summit House Restaurant, you're welcomed by a sweeping city view from atop a hill, a sight that never fails to take my breath away.

In the heart of our city, this hilltop manor restaurant is where I find myself returning time and time again for a delightful evening.

The atmosphere here, complete with a live piano and cozy bar, makes for an unforgettable experience.

While waiting for my table one night, I found myself losing track of time as I sipped on a cocktail, soaking in the melodies.

A special mention goes out to the fine selection of beef dishes at Summit House.

I still remember the night I tried their rib eye, with its tantalizing taste, and my partner raved about the cottage-cut prime rib for days.

And don't even get me started on the sides - the truffle fries, creamed corn, and scalloped potatoes are beyond words.

It's true the beef might not always be a perfect cut, but it's the overall dining experience that makes it worth every penny spent.

Summit House doesn't just stop at entrées, their dessert selection is an absolute must-try.

I've found that the night view complements the decadence of their chocolate truffle perfectly, rounding off the meal in the best way possible.

Rutabegorz

Truly, there's no place like home.

Especially when my home is in the heart of Downtown Fullerton, and my favorite culinary haven, Rutabegorz, resides right in the neighborhood.

This vibrant café is more than just a place to grab a bite, it's where my palate discovered the harmonious blend of vegan, vegetarian, and lean meat offerings that have since become a staple in my diet.

During my time in college, Rutabegorz was the go-to spot for great food and company.

The charm and warmth of its ambiance inevitably drew us back time and again.

Not to mention, the cocktails are a steal at just $6.10.

It's quite a rarity to find a place offering such delectable and inexpensive drinks.

I remember this one time the falafel plate I ordered was the star of my lunch.

Even though it seemed more like an appetizer, it was still utterly satisfying.

And let's not even get started on the freshness of the food.

Every bite carries the crispness of fresh produce and the authenticity of real ingredients.

The shrimp avocado salad is a personal favorite, though once I was accidentally served a chicken avocado salad.

The Cellar Restaurant

The minute you step into The Cellar Restaurant, you're transported to an old-world French setting right in the heart of Southern California.

Situated in the basement of the charming Del Sol Hotel, this dimly lit hideaway exudes an air of romance and sophistication.

I can tell you, there's nothing quite like trying to locate this hidden gem – it's half the fun!

Once you walk in, be prepared for the enchanting atmosphere to take hold.

The dark and moody ambiance, the soft glow of the lights, and the plush, comfortable seating create the perfect setting for a romantic dinner or a celebration.

The food here is absolutely divine.

The carefully curated dishes never disappoint, with each plate cooked to perfection.

The bread - oh, the bread - it's so scrumptious, you'll have to stop yourself from filling up on it before your main course arrives.

To complement the food, they serve an array of mouthwatering cocktails.

Aside from the main dining area, there's a welcoming bar off to the right as you walk in.

And let me tell you about the bathrooms - located near the bar, they're an experience in themselves.

The majestic doors alone are worthy of admiration.

What's Up Japanese Noodles

You've never truly tasted Ramen until you've been to "What's Up Japanese Noodles" in Fullerton.

Nestled unassumingly in the city, this eatery is a haven for all the noodle lovers out there.

The moment you step into the restaurant, there is a comforting bustle that's reminiscent of the eateries in Japan.

But let's get to the crux of the matter, the food.

And trust me, the food at What's Up is something special.

One of my favorite combinations is the Ramen and Spicy Tuna Bowl lunch combo.

But the star of the show, without a doubt, is the Spicy Tuna Bowl.

The balance of flavors is a culinary marvel, with the spice adding a kick that takes the tender tuna from good to great.

But don't overlook their Gyoza.

With an ideal bite that gives way to the luscious filling inside, each piece is a flavor-packed delight that makes each bite an exciting experience.

The Ramen, particularly the Tonkotsu Shoyu, is another must-try.

Though the broth leaves me yearning for a richer flavor, it's a pleasant dish that still manages to satisfy my cravings.

Despite the restaurant's tiny interior and closely packed tables, there's a cozy vibe that only adds to the overall experience.

And don't forget to take note of the little details - custom plates and sticks wrapped in custom paper.

Combo's Pizza

Let me tell you about my unforgettable experience at Combo's Pizza.

I finally decided to give this place a try after hearing so much buzz about it, and boy, was that a decision well made!

My first order?

The Chicken Alfredo Pizza.

To say it was good is an absolute understatement.

It was one of the best pizzas I've had in a while, with perfectly bubbled cheese and the Alfredo sauce, let me tell you, it was a delight unto itself.

Now, I am no stranger to pizza places, but the warm, friendly ambiance at Combo's was a delightful experience.

It felt like being home.

After my first encounter with their Chicken Alfredo pizza, I was hooked and couldn't resist returning to try more of their menu.

The Pastrami and Buffalo Chicken Pizzas at Combo's are ridiculously delicious.

Every slice is loaded with flavor and had me reaching for more.

On the recommendation of a friend who works as a food delivery guy and couldn't stop raving about the smell of pizzas he delivered from Combo's, I also tried their Alpastor Pizza.

If you're a fan of tacos al pastor, you're in for a treat.

And don't get me started on their sides.

Their fries and Meatball Sub Sandwich are nothing short of fantastic.

Riveras Fresh Tacos

Have you ever wished that you could teleport to Mexico just for the authentic taste of their tacos?

Well, guess what?

I found a place that brings Mexico's delectable taste to us right here in Orange County.

It's a humble local favorite known as Riveras Fresh Tacos.

Conveniently located right next to a liquor store in the same lot, this place has a charm of its own.

It's not your typical taco shop.

Here, every dish is a testament to the art of Mexican cuisine.

The fish tacos are a must-try.

They are not your common fried battered fish but a uniquely crafted culinary masterpiece.

Cooked veggies and fish, made fresh to order, I would dare to call it an artisan's work.

Each bite of their tacos is a flavor explosion – so authentic, so fresh, and so delicious!

Of course, the appeal of Riveras Fresh Tacos isn't just about the food.

The folks who run this spot are genuinely friendly, making the whole dining experience an absolute pleasure.

And let's not forget their "buy X get Y free" card - a simple yet effective loyalty program that keeps patrons like me coming back for more.

But wait, there's more!

They offer free delivery too!

I had to move out of the area for a while, and coming back after six months, the first thing I noticed was that their quality was just as amazing as ever.

Ensenada's Surf N Turf Grill

"Who said love at first bite was just a myth?"

My taste buds found their soulmate at Ensenada's Surf N Turf Grill, a culinary gem nestled in the heart of my city.

Walking into Ensenada's Surf N Turf Grill, I was greeted by a clean and pleasant ambiance.

A tad chilly, maybe, but nothing that a good meal couldn't fix.

Parking was a breeze, thanks to the dedicated spots - a treat for someone like me who's always on the hunt for a good parking spot.

But the highlight of my visit, of course, was the food.

I still crave their grilled salmon, fish, and Baja tacos.

Packing in generous portions of seafood, these tacos were not just delectable but pretty hefty compared to your run-of-the-mill taco.

The flavors were spot-on, which only added to the overall experience.

And if you're a shrimp lover like me, you'd fall head over heels for their breaded shrimp tacos - they literally melted in my mouth.

While the prices might seem steep with tacos priced at around $15 each, considering the quality and the portion sizes, it was quite reasonable.

Cantina

Living in this city, I have had my fair share of dining experiences.

But nothing comes close to the flavors I've savored at Cantina, a gem tucked away in the heart of our bustling community.

The charm of Cantina, however, is not just limited to its atmosphere.

Their menu is a flavorful trip, a fiesta if you may, down south.

The Mexican Candy and Cantarito are a treat to the senses – sweet, tangy, and absolutely delightful.

And as for the food, it's an authentic Mexican experience that's hard to forget.

I remember vividly the time when Juan Carlos, a remarkably accommodating bartender, served us a spread that was nothing short of spectacular.

The flavors were rich, the textures were perfect, and overall, the food was simply delicious.

Oh, and did I mention their happy hour?

Two Saucy Broads Pizza

A slice of heaven tucked away in California - that’s what Two Saucy Broads Pizza is to me.

Known for its chill vibe and specialty pizzas, this local gem is also home to some fantastic Italian sandwiches and salads.

And the craft beer on tap is just the cherry on top!

From the moment I placed an order, I knew this place was different.

I, being an experimental foodie, had ordered both vegan and non-vegan options.

To my surprise, I received a call from them confirming my order, just to make sure it wasn't a mistake.

How thoughtful is that?

While the pizza here is top-notch, my all-time favorite is the vegan meatball sandwich.

Tossed in a flavorful marinara sauce and smothered in vegan cheese, it's my go-to comfort food.

And let's not forget the garlic knots.

Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and with just the right amount of garlic, they're a must-try for any visitor.

But it's not just about the food.

Part of what makes Two Saucy Broads Pizza so special is its location.

Huntington Ramen & Sushi

Sitting hidden in a corner of Fullerton is my go-to Japanese food haven, Huntington Ramen & Sushi.

This intimate and understated gem stands as an oasis of authentic Japanese cuisine, always ready to satiate my cravings.

With an extensive menu that caters to both my vegetarian friends and hardcore sushi lovers like myself, this spot never disappoints.

Every visit to Huntington is a new culinary adventure.

The vegan sushi rolls are a revelation, with the inferno roll being my absolute favorite.

Those who enjoy traditional sushi are not left behind.

The salmon and tuna nigiri are a must-try, their fresh taste lingering in your mouth long after the meal is over.

However, sushi isn't the only star on the menu.

The pepper & garlic salmon has an impeccably balanced flavor profile that keeps me coming back for more.

The family-friendly atmosphere is another endearing feature.

My little niece always looks forward to the kiddy ramen served on cute character trays—a truly delightful experience for her.

Wings Cafe

When the weekend rolls around, there's nothing quite like a lazy brunch at Wings Cafe.

Housed in a quaint, narrow building themed around the wonders of flight, this casual airport cafe is my go-to spot for a hearty breakfast or lunch.

The atmosphere is always buzzing with energy, especially on weekends when families flock in to enjoy their delicious eggs, sandwiches, and salads.

I vividly remember one particular Saturday when I visited Wings Cafe for brunch.

Despite the crowd, we only had to wait for about 10 minutes before we were seated.

The food didn't disappoint either.

I ordered their famous French toast sandwich, which was as delightful as ever!

What makes Wings Cafe a standout, though, is the opportunity to watch planes take flight while you dine.

The thrill of spotting planes and helicopters never gets old.

It's a unique experience that both kids and adults can enjoy.

And speaking of kids, Wings Cafe is definitely a family-friendly establishment.

Your little ones will be captivated by the aviation-themed decor and the sight of aircraft soaring into the sky.

As for the prices, they're pretty reasonable too.

On that Saturday, we ordered four items that totaled around $53, which felt like a fair deal for the quality and experience.

HOLDAAK's Soulful Chicken

The first thing I want you to do is to forget everything you know about fried chicken.

Yes, you heard it right!

Because what I'm about to reveal to you is a whole different ball game.

When you step into HOLDAAK Fried Chicken, you enter a world where the humble bird is transformed into a culinary masterpiece.

The second I bit into their Seoul Spicy chicken sandwich, I knew I had stumbled upon something extraordinary.

The sandwich was an explosion of intense flavors, with the pickled radish playing a game-changing role.

On the other hand, the original sandwich was the perfect pick for those who preferred a milder taste.

Know what else packed a punch?

Their fries.

Oh, how I wish they had a little more seasoning for an added kick!

Finding HOLDAAK was pure serendipity.

One day, I had no idea what to eat and, on a whim, decided to look it up on Yelp.

And boy, was it a fantastic decision!

The chicken was unbelievably crispy, yet not greasy in the slightest.

The batter was a savory delight, and the chicken was tender and delicious.

For someone who appreciates generous servings, the chicken tenders were a dream come true.

The quality of food at HOLDAAK baffled me, considering the affordable prices.

That original Seoul spicy was one of the best chicken burgers I've ever had.

Even though the food took a bit longer to prepare, it was well worth the wait.

Don't forget to try their comeback sauce; it's a treat in itself.

One thing, however, did catch my attention.

The drink station was a bit messy as the sodas spilled onto the floor.

Fixing this would make the experience even more enjoyable.

Cafe Patio Korean - Chinese Pub & Cuisine

I still remember that chilly evening when I stumbled across the culinary oasis that is Cafe Patio Korean - Chinese Pub & Cuisine, a delightful spot that's quickly become a local favorite of mine.

A typical evening for me at Cafe Patio starts off with a kick.

I can't resist their spicy garlic chicken - the perfect blend of heat, flavor, and crunch is simply mesmerizing.

However, I feel the Korean fires could do with a bit more oomph.

But their drinks are a different story altogether.

I once tried a lychee cocktail, and while it was not the best I've had, the thought and effort put into the presentation, complete with a fruit garnish, was commendable.

The Cafe Patio's menu is extensive, making food selection seemingly endless and a true adventure for the taste buds.

Each dish I've tried has yet to disappoint, with exciting flavors that truly represent the Asian fusion they promise.

Of course, the journey wouldn't be complete without their fun and creative drinks.

During happy hour, I tried their popsicle cocktail, which was a fun and refreshing twist.
