Liberty - Alternative American Restaurant

I remember it like it was yesterday, my first time eating at Liberty - Alternative American Restaurant.

On a whim, I decided to venture away from my usual dinner spots, and boy, I didn't understand what I had been missing out on.

Hiding in plain sight, Liberty may seem unassuming from the outside, but don't let that fool you.

The moment you step inside, you're greeted by a warm, welcoming atmosphere that immediately sets you at ease.

And the food!

I'm still dreaming about the tasting menu; every dish was an absolute delight to the senses.

Uncle Rico’s Pizza

Whenever I crave a proper pizza, Uncle Rico’s Pizza in Fort Myers is my go-to place.

This local gem, without fail, serves some of the best pizza in the area.

I've tried my fair share of pizzerias, yet Uncle Rico's always manages to stand out.

A recent visit had me indulging in their garlic knots, which were a revelation.

The unmistakable taste of freshly chopped garlic combined with what seemed to be freshly grated Parmesan and Romano cheese had me hooked.

The huge Stromboli, with its excellent sauce simmered from high-quality ingredients, was an absolute delight.

Their Margherita pizza is another favorite of mine.

The crust is chewy and flavorful, and it comes with plenty of fresh basil.

I particularly appreciate that the basil is added after the pizza is cooked, ensuring that it retains its flavor and doesn’t wilt.

This place also offers great value.

On a particular visit, I relished their generous, oven-fresh pizza slices, which come with a can of soda for just $6.

A personal touch that adds to the overall appeal is the affable Uncle Rico himself, who is always friendly and personable.

I still have to try their pizza rolls and the Lasagna lunch special that I've heard so much about.

Harold's

I have to say, I've been to my fair share of local eateries, but nothing has quite hit the mark like Harold's.

Nestled in what you could easily mistake for a standard strip mall, this place is anything but ordinary.

From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by an air of warmth that resonates throughout the venue, and the charming casual atmosphere just makes you feel right at home.

Now, let's get down to the real deal - the food.

Each dish is something to be savored, a celebration of hearty, locally sourced meat and seafood.

As someone who enjoys cooking at home, it takes something special to impress me.

But believe me when I say the culinary delights at Harold's are truly out of this world.

From the tomato salad to the mouthwatering tuna and the unforgettable flower pot dessert, every mouthful is an absolute treat.

The service? Stellar.

And guess what?

No one leaves with a doggy bag here – the food is just too good.

And, oh, let's not forget the wine menu.

It's large, to say the least, and has something to suit every palette.

Whether it's a date night or just a casual outing, Harold's is the place to be for an elevated dining experience.

I can't wait to go back and try more of their menu.

Pilar's Empanadas Argentinas Gourmet

Every visit to Pilar's Empanadas Argentinas Gourmet brings a new surprise to my palate.

The empanadas here are unlike any I've tasted before.

They have a rich variety of flavors, each with its own distinct taste.

You can't miss the specials and the lunch combo they offer.

The establishment has about six tables, with a welcoming open decor and a view of the hardworking kitchen.

The menu isn't limited to just empanadas, they also offer mouth-watering desserts and specialty drinks that complement the meals perfectly.

And the best part?

The prices are very reasonable.

The Gathering Place

I've always loved exploring the local dining scene.

Fort Myers has its share of hidden culinary treasures, and my recent discovery is one such gem, The Gathering Place.

It's not the usual trendy café you'd expect to find.

It's located in a former nursing home, an unusual setting that piques your curiosity.

But don't let the unconventional exterior fool you, the food is phenomenal!

The restaurant has a calming, homely ambiance that simply adds to the overall dining experience.

My first foray into their menu was the BBQ pork tostada which was a delightful surprise, bursting with flavor in every bite.

I paired it with sun-harvest orange juice, a refreshing accompaniment.

And did I mention the desserts?

The display of pies and cakes was simply irresistible, each looking more delectable than the other, a clear indication that I need to come back for more.

I'm looking forward to trying the chicken tostadas I've heard so much about.

If they're as good as the BBQ pork tostada I had, I know I'm in for a treat.

Downtown House of Pizza

Every time I head to Downtown House of Pizza, I'm reminded why it's the heart and soul of our neighborhood.

The friendly vibe that welcomes you as you walk in, the lively chatter that fills the air, and the aroma of fresh-out-of-the-oven pizza that teases your senses – it's an experience that never grows old.

My go-to order is always a huge slice of their thin, crunchy-crust pizza.

I swear, each bite is a flavor explosion that leaves you craving for more.

The quick and efficient system they have in place ensures that I never have to wait too long for my pizza, even on the busiest of days.

And to wash it all down, I usually grab a canned Pepsi – one of the many beverages they offer.

There's something particularly charming about sitting in the back courtyard, surrounded by fellow pizza lovers.

The picnic tables and benches provide a relaxed setting to enjoy not just the food but also the lively community spirit.

I've had numerous conversations with locals and visitors alike right there on those benches, all while munching on my favorite slice.

The late-night crowd is a sight to behold.

After a night of revelry, the eatery becomes a haven for those looking to satiate their hunger with a hearty snack.

It's no wonder the same faces are seen time and again; the management truly does an exemplary job.

Bullig

I must say, I have a soft spot for Bullig.

It's one of those hidden gems that really exemplifies what it's like to dine in Florida.

As soon as you set foot in this charming little spot located in the same parking space as the beautiful Butterfly Estates, you can tell it's steeped in family history and art.

And let's not even get me started on their coffee drinks - they're nothing short of heavenly.

You can check out their menu and much more about them here.

What makes Bullig stand out among other places is the unique waffle-based dishes they serve.

Every item is served with a delightful Belgian-style waffle, and trust me, it's a flavor you don't want to miss out on.

The menu might not boast a wide range of options, but each dish is unique and lip-smacking.

Probably my favorite thing about Bullig is the warmth that permeates throughout.

All the employees are kind and helpful, making you feel right at home.

Plus, they have a dog-friendly patio, which is a nice touch.

While there's a 19% gratuity automatically added, it's worth every penny for the quality of food and service you get.

Just be aware of it so as not to be surprised when the bill comes.

This place does more than just serve food; it delivers an experience.

From the moment you find a parking spot behind the building to the instant you leave, you're treated to a feast for all senses.

The ambiance is cozy with a touch of artsy vibes - I especially love how they serve coffee in mason jar mugs.

Banh Mi & Tea

It's always a delight when you stumble upon a new dining spot in your neighborhood, and I must say, I've found a gem in Banh Mi & Tea.

Nestled among the city's vibrant streets, this place has instantly become a favorite.

The food here is phenomenal, from their hearty Banh Mi sandwiches to the satisfyingly rich and flavorful Pho.

Don't let the name fool you, their menu extends far beyond just Banh Mi and tea.

One of the highlights of my visits has always been their delectable drinks.

Their selection is impressive and appealing, offering a perfect complement to the food on offer.

I particularly enjoy unwinding after a hectic day with one of their refreshing Boba or Bubble teas.

The ambiance is quaint and inviting, with a couple of tables set aside if you prefer to enjoy your meal onsite, surrounded by the engaging atmosphere.

On one memorable occasion, they celebrated the upcoming Lunar New Year by offering a free token prize from their gift tree, a gesture that left a lasting impression on me and made the experience even more special.

I'm already planning my next visit to try some more delicacies from their extensive menu.

La Trattoria Cafe Napoli

One evening, after a long day at work, I decided to treat myself to some delicious, homely food.

I found myself at La Trattoria Cafe Napoli, a Spanish and Italian cuisine restaurant tucked away in my neighborhood.

As I walked in, I was instantly struck by the cozy, warm atmosphere of the place.

Every dish I tried was impeccable, from the goat cheese appetizer to the homemade Caesar salad dressing and of course, the pasta that I absolutely love.

What I particularly admired was how they manage to give a modern twist to the traditional Italian Pasta.

My dinner ended on a sweet note with their delectable dessert.

Despite the small space, the restaurant had a certain charm that made me feel comfortable and relaxed.

During one of my visits, I had the chance to share a range of tapas with friends.

We indulged in everything from croquettes to smoked salmon and of course, a bottle of Malbec to accompany our meal.

McCarter's BBQ

Whenever I'm in the mood for some good old barbecue, there's only one place that comes to mind: McCarter's BBQ!

I've been to this place multiple times, and it never disappoints, a testament to its consistency.

And, oh boy, those ribs!

No matter how many visits I pay, they always hit the same - moist, sumptuous, and mouthwateringly delicious.

You can find more about them here.

The servings are quite generous, almost too much for one sitting.

I've tried both the traditional ribs and rib tips, and though both are excellent, I lean towards the rib tips.

They are just easier to manage, and I find it easier to restrain myself - otherwise, I might end up devouring everything on the menu!

Wicked Good Deli

Don't we all have those days when we crave something sinfully delicious instead of just going through the routine of healthy eating?

Well, I had one of those days recently, and guess where it led me?

To Wicked Good Deli!

As I stepped in, the Reuben sandwich on the specials board called out to me.

So, I abandoned my initial plans of having something bland and healthy for the day and gave in to the lure of the sandwich.

It didn't take long for my order to be ready.

A generous serving of pastrami, topped with Swiss cheese, kraut, and mustard, all packed between slices of grilled rye.

I must admit, it wasn't the best pastrami I've ever tasted, but the sandwich as a whole was quite a delight.

While I was busy enjoying my sandwich, I couldn't help but notice my brother's chicken parm.

It looked as delightful as it could get, and judging by my brother's reaction, it tasted just as good.

Sneaking in a few fries from his plate, I was impressed by their perfect crispiness.

Let me tell you about my second visit to this place; I chose to try the Steak Bomb potato.

"Wow," was all I could manage to say after my first bite.

The steak was tender, the onions, mushrooms, peppers, salami, and cheese all came together beautifully over a perfectly baked potato.

It isn't something I would treat myself with on a regular basis, but on that particular day, it was more than just a treat.

And if you are wondering about the ambiance, it's nothing short of "wicked good".

HJ German Corner

Just when I thought I had seen all that our lovely corner of SWFL had to offer, I stumbled upon HJ German Corner.

When a friend of mine recommended this place, I thought I'd give it a try.

And boy, was I overjoyed I did! You can check them out here.

The moment I walked in, I was enamored by the inviting ambiance.

Clean and super neat, it felt like I had stepped into a cozy dining room in a quaint German town.

But let's talk about the real star of the show - the food!

It was love at first bite.

The currywurst was something special – a unique blend of flavors I'd never tasted before.

And those potato pancakes!

Crispy and divine, they were hands down the best I've ever had.

I also had a schnitzel which was served with red cabbage that was utterly phenomenal.

I finished off my meal with an apple strudel which perfectly hit the sweet spot.

But the experience wouldn't have been complete without their beer – it was served ice cold and tasted so refreshing.

For those who prefer wine, they also have a selection available.

And did I mention the prices?

Quite affordable - a complete meal, including a drink, was around $15.

Biggy's Place

There are few things in the world that can beat the luxury of a lazy weekend brunch.

For me, one of my regular haunts has always been Biggy's Place.

The homey atmosphere, combined with a delightful selection of breakfast classics, makes it an ideal spot to unwind and savor good food.

It's a bustling place, but don't let that deter you, the service is quick and efficient.

The slightly worn-out counters and seats might need a touch-up, but they add to the familial charm of the place.

It's the little things like this that keep me coming back time and time again.

The food, of course, is another big draw.

The Western Omelette with added sausage and cheese is one of my personal favorites.

The portion sizes are generous, ensuring you always leave on a satisfied note.

But the true star of the show for me is the French toast.

It's perfectly done, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, a sweet symphony of flavors that never fails to hit the spot.

And the best part is the ample free parking available, making it all the more convenient.

Bangkok Thai Restaurant

Located in a simple strip-center venue, Bangkok Thai Restaurant has been my go-to spot for traditional Thai dishes for quite a while now.

You can check out their menu on their website.

Even though the exterior may seem unassuming, don't let it fool you.

Every visit here, I am always pleasantly surprised by the variety of appetizers on offer.

I remember my last visit, where I ordered their spring rolls and Chicken Drunken Noodle plate.

The spring rolls were a bit on the smaller side, but the Drunken Noodles were flavorful and packed a punch.

On another occasion, I tried their Sweet and Sour Pork, which was absolutely delicious.

One of the highlights for me has to be trying Singha, a Thai beer, for the first time at this very restaurant.

They also serve sake, which is a nice touch.

On special occasions, they have been known to surprise guests with a complimentary dessert, much like when a friend's son celebrated his 21st birthday here.

Blanc

I've always been a bit of a foodie, so I make it a point to try out places that promise unique culinary experiences.

And I must say, Blanc is one of those restaurants that has truly lived up to my expectations.

The restaurant offers a fantastic blend of French, Asian, and Latin flavors that has quickly made it a must-visit spot for me.

The interior is narrow and modern, offering an air of intimacy that I've come to appreciate.

But, you should be warned that the place is small, and getting a reservation can be quite tricky.

I remember one night when I had to wait a bit because my bar reservation wasn't available on time.

But the moment the cheese tray, complete with a divine fig jam, was brought to my table, all was forgiven.

I tried out the pork chop and grouper, both of which were served impeccably.

The salsa did make the grouper a tad mushy, but the gravy on the pork chop was so amazing that I barely noticed.

And don't even get me started on the potato gratin!

It was absolutely incredible.

The Lucky Screw

It's always a pleasure to spend my Saturday evenings at The Lucky Screw.

Their international bar bites and extensive wine selection never disappoint.

I particularly love the Short Rib dinner, which comes with mashed potatoes, carrots, and mushrooms.

The meal always has an incredible depth of flavor without being overly salty.

The meat is tender and served in just the right portion size.

I usually start with their delicious flatbread as an appetizer.

What strikes me every time I visit is not just the quality of the food but also the cleanliness of the place.

I find the restaurant and the bathrooms always kept impeccably clean.

Another thing that sets The Lucky Screw apart is the live music.

They often have a solo band playing, and while it can sometimes be a tad loud, it certainly adds to the vibrant atmosphere.

3 Pepper Burrito Company

I must say, I've fallen in love with the 3 Pepper Burrito Company, a place I frequently visit for lunch, sometimes 2 or 3 times a week.

They have the freshest food, right from the tortillas, which they make to order by pressing the dough, to their toppings that are bursting with flavor.

I'll never forget the day when Carl served me.

He was such a delight, making me feel like I was part of the 3 Pepper family.

He even went out of his way to bring our food to our table and clean it up afterward.

Now that is a service worth appreciating!

But my most frequent visits are for their high-quality, delicious food.

The cilantro lime sauce is a personal favorite.

Every meal feels worth the money, especially because they all come with chips and salsa.

And let me not forget about their desserts.

Especially the cookierito, it's as if I could just float on it.

It's my favorite!

El Pilón Caribbean Cuisine

One of my frequent haunts in the city is a family-run eatery called El Pilón Caribbean Cuisine.

Nestled in a snug little corner, this place emanates a casual, laid-back vibe that's hard to miss.

It's not uncommon to find the place buzzing with activity, typically at about 70% capacity with its 18 tables.

The seating is self-determined, which adds a sense of informality to the whole experience.

I decided to try the Masitas de pollo with arroz con gandules and Sorullos de maíz for starters.

The rice with Gandules had an unexpected ingredient - smoked salmon, which was surprisingly good.

India's Grill Fort Myers

You know, there's something special about finding that perfect spot in your local area that serves up your favorite cuisine.

For me, that's India's Grill Fort Myers. I've always had a soft spot for Indian food, and this place is like hitting the jackpot.

The atmosphere in the restaurant is always warm and welcoming.

It's the perfect setting to indulge in some traditional Indian dishes, all freshly prepared.

I absolutely love the fact that they offer vegan and vegetarian options, too - it's not something you find everywhere.

Often, I find myself wishing that I lived even closer because I'd probably be there for lunch every single day!

What I really appreciate about India's Grill is their daily fresh buffet - it's a treasure trove of flavors.

And in the evenings, they serve up some truly wonderful food.

Ever had Garlic Naan and Chicken Tikka Masala?

If not, you're missing out.

My personal favorite, though, is the Veg Samosa, a perfect appetizer to kick-start your meal.

Maverick Grille

Oh, how I love the Maverick Grille!

It has become my go-to spot for a quick and satisfying meal.

I'll never forget the first time I walked in, drawn by the inviting atmosphere and the promise of fresh food.

The first thing that hit me was how impeccably clean everything was.

One of my favorite dishes is their authentic gyro, it's so huge and absolutely delicious.

The chicken is sometimes a bit overdone, but their tzatziki sauce more than makes up for it.

It's tangy and creamy and simply irresistible.

As for sides, mac and cheese is a must-try.

It's rich, creamy, and oh-so comforting.

Now, if you have a sweet tooth, you're in for a treat.

The choices are tough - a gooey chocolate brownie made with Ghirardelli chocolate bits or the baklava, a sweet, flaky delight.

Each bite of the baklava is to be savored - it's that good.

Oasis Restaurant

If you are looking for a place that serves home-style food and has an old-time feel to it, then Oasis Restaurant is a must-visit.

As soon as you step in, you are greeted with the aroma of delicious food and the sound of soothing music.

This place has the biggest pancakes I've ever seen!

They are not only huge but also thin and extremely tasty.

The best part is the heated syrup that they serve you with.

Trust me when I say you have to try them.

You can find their Facebook page here to have a look at what else they have in their menu.

Another recommendation would be the Hangover Omelet.

Despite it being served in a diner setup, it isn't greasy at all.

In fact, it is a perfect omelet that is loaded and still holds together so well.

I am pretty sure they use one of those omelet makers you see on TV.

The hash browns here are a solid choice, too.

They are a bit thicker than what I usually prefer, but they are still crispy on the outside, so it's not a problem.

The best part about this place is that they serve most items all day long.

So you don't have to worry about wanting breakfast for lunch or vice versa.

I've tried their hangover omelet with grits and rye toast, as well as the chopped steak with mashed potatoes and corn, and they were all delightful.

I was pleasantly surprised to see a wide variety of Italian dishes apart from the American ones on their menu.

Farmer's Market Restaurant

Every so often, I find myself drawn to the Farmer's Market Restaurant, a modest yet splendid joint tucked a little down the street from the hustle and bustle of downtown.

You can't miss it, especially due to its sign that's visible from the street.

If you're interested, their website is here for you to check out.

This place is particularly known for its Southern staples, all freshly made with ingredients sourced straight from the nearby farmer's market.

During one of my visits, I ordered their country-fried steak with two sides - fried okra and a bowl of potato and bacon soup.

The soup was creamy and delectable, while the okra was cooked to perfection.

The steak, although a bit on the dry side, still had a decent taste.

For starters, they serve a basket of dinner rolls and corn muffins with your meal.

The rolls were light, and the muffins had a delightful taste that beautifully set the tone for the rest of the meal.

The restaurant ambiance is quite adorable and always buzzing with people, which I find charming.

That's what happened when I first visited Brooke's Restaurant & Lounge.

From the outside, it didn't initially strike me as anything special.

But stepping inside was like a pleasant surprise - a cozy, sports-themed hangout with an inviting atmosphere.

I still remember my first meal there, the prices were astonishingly reasonable, and the food was terrific.
