Kazone
As someone who loves trying out new restaurants in the area, I recently decided to give Kazone a try.
I had heard great things about their Japanese and Korean fusion dishes from friends and decided to gather a group to share the experience.
We visited on a hot day, and I was eager to try their cold soba noodles.
The noodles were refreshing, and the assortment of vegetables that came with it complemented the dish perfectly.
My friends and I also shared the Cheese Katsu, which was crunchy, filled with warm mozzarella cheese, and came with two delicious sauces.
The Chashu Donniri and Unagi Donburi were equally enjoyable, with the grilled eel in the latter dish being particularly tender and tasty.
Malaysian Kopitiam
I absolutely love Malaysian food, and it's been quite a challenge to find authentic Malaysian cuisine in the DMV area.
Thankfully, I discovered Malaysian Kopitiam, and it has become my go-to spot for satisfying my cravings.
My first experience at Malaysian Kopitiam was fantastic.
I ordered the roti canai, and it was just as delicious as the ones I had during my travels in Malaysia.
The accompanying chicken curry became the highlight of the meal.
I have since tried other dishes, and they have all been full of flavor, with good portion sizes, and definitely worth trying.
What really sets this place apart is its authenticity.
The food transports me back to the bustling streets of Kuala Lumpur, which I had the pleasure of calling home for three years.
The fish head curry is a must-try at the restaurant, and I’ve also enjoyed their fish purée bean curd, fried rice, and salted egg prawns.
While I do miss Kuala Lumpur, I'm grateful that I can still enjoy the amazing flavors of Malaysian cuisine right here in my neighborhood.
I've had a few takeout experiences from Malaysian Kopitiam, and they have never failed to impress me.
Gopchang Story KBBQ
As a resident of Centreville, I have my fair share of Korean BBQ experiences, and I recently found myself at Gopchang Story KBBQ.
This Korean restaurant is known for its Assorted Intestine Gui and other authentic dishes.
During my visit, I decided to try the Spicy Cold Noodles, Corn Cheese, Beef Tartare, Assorted Intestines Gui, and Fried Rice with Cheese and Fish Roe.
While the Spicy Cold Noodles and Corn Cheese were rather average and not particularly memorable, the Beef Tartare was truly remarkable.
The dish was perfectly seasoned, with the ideal balance of creaminess from the egg yolk and crunch from the garnish.
I enjoyed it so much that I ordered a second serving!
The Assorted Intestines Gui was another highlight, featuring a delicious, fatty goodness that was complemented by the addictive powder they sprinkle on top.
The Fried Rice with Cheese and Fish Roe was good, though quite heavy, making it a bit difficult to finish after the other dishes.
The Gui is served with three dipping sauces, and I found the simple salt and soy & vinegar options to be the best accompaniments.
A Cloud Beer helped to cut through the richness of the meal.
Matsu
I've been to Matsu several times now, and it always delivers.
This Japanese restaurant offers a calming white setting with black accents and an eat-at sushi bar that makes for a perfect spot to unwind with some delicious food.
The menu may not be extensive, but the quality of the sushi is exceptional.
They focus on quality over quantity, and it shows in every bite.
One thing I appreciate is the unique presentation of their a-la-carte sushi menu, which they wrap around the chopsticks.
It's a small touch, but it adds to the overall ambiance.
On my most recent visit, I dined with my family for lunch, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
We ordered a variety of sushi and ramen dishes, and every single item was fantastic.
The service was friendly and prompt, making for an overall enjoyable meal.
What stood out to me the most during this visit was the freshness of the ingredients – from the sushi to the takoyaki and the shrimp tempura.
Everything was cooked to perfection, and the portions were generous, making it an excellent value for the price.
Sweetwater Tavern
Just last week, I decided to try out Sweetwater Tavern for the first time, and I must say, I was truly impressed.
The cowboy-themed atmosphere was bustling and funky, making it a great place to unwind after a long day.
The food at Sweetwater Tavern was absolutely delicious.
I ordered the warm goat cheese salad, which was so good that it even had me, a non-salad person, craving more!
My friend had their burger, which he couldn't stop raving about.
We also tried their Southwest rolls and corn chowder, both of which tasted amazing.
And, of course, we couldn't leave without trying their house-brewed beer, which was definitely worth the hype.
For dessert, we shared the rich and scrumptious peanut butter pie.
BONGA 본가 Korean Restaurant
As one of the easily accessible restaurants in my neighborhood, I have dined BONGA 본가 on multiple occasions.
I have to admit that it has become one of my favorite places for Korean food.
This restaurant is known for its authentic Korean dishes and family-friendly service, which I can personally vouch for.
Whenever I visit BONGA 본가, I can't help but indulge in their amazing kimchi and stews.
Last time, I ordered their tofu soup and cold noodle dishes, and they were both phenomenal.
Their side dishes, such as kong jang and kimchi, are also a treat for the taste buds.
Honest Grill
One evening, I decided to try out a new place for dinner, and that's when I stumbled upon Honest Grill, another Korean barbecue restaurant in Centreville.
I was taken aback by the steakhouse-like ambiance, which was quite different from what I had expected.
The quality of the food and service was simply exceptional, and I knew right away that this was not just any Korean BBQ spot.
The quality of the meat was outstanding, with amazing dry-age flavor and tenderness that melted in my mouth.
The bonchon (sides) that came with the premium beef were good too, but the soybean soup definitely stole the show.
I must admit, I was a little concerned about the price point, but after experiencing the incredible food, I can confidently say that it was worth every penny.
I can't wait for my next visit to Honest Grill, and it's safe to say that my expectations for Korean BBQ have been raised to a whole new level.
Ciao Osteria
I've been to countless Italian restaurants, but Ciao Osteria truly stands out for its top-quality ingredients and authentic dishes.
Whenever my friends and I are in need of some comfort food, this warm, brick-walled dining room never fails to deliver.
One of the best things about Ciao Osteria is that you can order anything from their menu and be completely satisfied.
Some nights, I find myself craving their Neapolitan wood-fired Margherita Pizza, which, trust me, is a must-try for any pizza enthusiast.
On other nights, I might opt for one of their delicious home-style Italian dishes, like pasta or seafood.
The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxing night out with friends or family.
Thai Kitchen
One of my top picks for delicious Thai food is Thai Kitchen.
This gem of a restaurant is tucked away in a calm strip mall, and its simple yet elegant ambiance adds to the overall dining experience.
The soup and appetizers, like the chicken curry puffs, are always a treat, even if they lean more toward a potato filling.
My personal favorites are the Basil fried rice and Pineapple fried rice, which never disappoint.
I've found that the Pad Thai flavor can be a little off at times, but with the addition of a few condiments, it's easily fixed.
Don't forget to try their fried banana dessert – it's a delightful surprise (and they were kind enough to offer it on the house for my birthday celebration)!
They even provide four different spice options of condiments for those who'd like to add some extra heat to their dishes.
Hao Ru Restaurant
I've had my fair share of Korean BBQ and tofu houses, and to be honest, I was starting to get a little bored with the usual options.
One day, while browsing for a new place to eat, I stumbled upon Hao Ru Restaurant - a Korean restaurant with a unique twist.
From the moment I walked in, I could tell that this place was different.
Instead of the usual BBQ setup, Hao Ru offers a more casual atmosphere and a menu that leans more towards Koreanized Chinese dishes.
What really caught my attention was their combo options, where you can choose from Jjahjahngmyun, Jjamppong, fried rice, and Tangsuyuk.
During my visit, I decided to try the seafood Nu Roongi and Yoo Rin gi, and I was absolutely blown away by the quantity and quality of the dishes.
The flavors were bold, and the portions were more than generous.
Brick's Pizza
My friends and I have been frequenting Brick's Pizza for quite some time now.
Their pizza is truly amazing, and the perfect blend of crust, cheese, and sauce has won me over.
I always look forward to grabbing a slice of their delicious pepperoni pizza when I'm craving something tasty.
It is also a favorite among my family, even my sister, who lives in Pennsylvania, couldn't stop raving about it during her last visit.
Their website makes it easy to check out their menu and place an order.
Aside from this, the service at Brick's is always fantastic, and they have a great selection of wings as well.
Gogiville
I recently visited Gogiville in Centreville with my son, and it was an incredible experience!
My son had been to Korea, and he wanted to show me what authentic Korean barbecue was like.
As we walked in, we noticed that the atmosphere was a bit more upscale than what my son had experienced in Korea, but it still felt very authentic.
We opted for a combo meal that included steamed egg and soybean paste soup, and the pre-meal dishes were fantastic.
The quality of the meat for our barbecue was superb, and the taste was out of this world.
It was so good that I almost forgot to take pictures!
Sō Korean BBQ
Let me tell you about one of my favorite places to eat in town: Sō Korean BBQ.
Whenever my partner and I are craving some delicious Korean barbecue, we know exactly where to go.
The atmosphere is always lively, and there's even a bar where we can grab a drink while we wait for our table.
What I love most about this restaurant is that you can choose to grill the meat yourself.
We usually go for the All You Can Eat Option B, which includes a wide variety of meats to choose from.
Our absolute favorite has to be the Short Rib Patty – it's just so tender and packed with flavor!
On one occasion, we decided to try their Korean Fried Chicken appetizer, and let me tell you, the portion was huge!
It was a delicious treat we enjoyed, but it was too much for just the two of us.
We ended up taking the leftovers home and enjoyed them for dinner the next night with some white rice.
They have a 1.5-hour time limit for dining, but honestly, their service is so fast that we're usually full before the hour mark.

Tita's Grill (Manassas)
Just when I decided to try something new for dinner, I stumbled upon Tita's Grill, a Peruvian restaurant in Manassas Park.
As soon as I walked in, I was impressed by the clean, orderly, and inviting atmosphere of the café.
It was my first time trying Peruvian food, and Tita's Grill did not disappoint!
The food was absolutely delicious, with perfect size servings that could even be split for leftovers.
I had steak, rice, flash-fried potatoes, and chicken kebabs, and everything tasted amazing.
I also tried their milk smoothies, which were great for cleansing the palate in between courses.
Yorkshire Restaurant (Manassas)
One morning, my friends I decided to have a delicious breakfast at Yorkshire Restaurant, a family-run American diner in our town.
I ordered the pancake breakfast, and let me tell you, those hotcakes were simply out of this world!
They were fluffy, perfectly cooked, and tasted heavenly.
My friends also had nothing but praise for their dishes.
One of them had the corned beef hash with a biscuit and a side of gravy, which they said was mouthwatering and filling.
Another friend raved about their salt ham and French toast, declaring it the best they'd ever had.
What's even better is that the prices at Yorkshire Restaurant are extremely reasonable, and the portion sizes are quite generous.
Despite the diner being packed with customers, our food arrived in record time, only taking about five minutes in the kitchen.
Ottoman Kitchen (Chantilly)
I have been to Ottoman Kitchen several times, and the place has never disappointed me.
This family-owned and operated restaurant serves up authentic Turkish fare such as doner sandwiches and kebabs, and it's become a favorite spot for me and my friends when we're in the mood for some delicious Lebanese food.
The first time I tried their grilled chicken, I was blown away by how juicy, tender, and well-cooked it was.
And to this day, the taste remains the same.
I also love that it comes with plenty of fresh vegetables on the side.
The chicken doner is another favorite of mine, with the same tender chicken but chopped up and mixed in a sauce with bread, making it incredibly flavorful.
What makes me feel even better about dining at Ottoman Kitchen is knowing that they use all halal and quality ingredients.
Tilly Kitchen (Chantilly)
I've always been on the lookout for new places to eat in my area, and I recently stumbled upon Tilly Kitchen.
I've visited the restaurant twice already, and the combination of a spacious seating area, modern atmosphere, and clean surroundings make it perfect for social distancing or simply hanging out with friends while enjoying a meal.
Their menu offers quite a variety of options, and one of my favorites so far is the bulgogi sandwich from Semicolon.
Paired with a slightly sweet matcha latte, it's the perfect brunch meal for me.
If you're a fan of Asian cuisine, their Combo Fried Rice and Spring Rolls are definitely worth a try.
Although it's a little on the pricey side, I believe you get your money's worth at Tilly Kitchen, especially with their spotless environment and generous portions.
CAVA (Chantilly)
I have to tell you about my recent visit to CAVA in Chantilly.
This Mediterranean restaurant has quickly become one of my favorite spots to grab a healthy yet flavorful meal in the area.
I decided to place an online order for pickup, and it was a very simple process.
They even let you choose the time you want to pick up your meal, which is a nice convenience.
When I stopped by to pick up my food, the restaurant was buzzing with customers.
It was great to see how popular CAVA has become in the neighborhood.
I grabbed my order from the shelf near the entrance and couldn't wait to dig in.
The salad I ordered was fresh and delicious, and the spicy lamb meatballs were simply outstanding.
I'm not usually a fan of chips, but the baked pita bread chips served with my meal were the perfect healthy complement to the salad and meat.
I ended up enjoying my meal inside the restaurant, as the air conditioning made it quite comfortable.
