The first time I stepped into Rombiolo Bakery Cafe, I knew I'd found a little slice of heaven right here in my neighborhood.
Their array of scrumptious baked goods, particularly the olimpicos (sandwiches), is impossible to resist.
Each bite oozes with quality, making a regular out of me.
The outdoor seating is an added bonus, perfect for anyone like me who loves to enjoy their food al fresco, soaking in the lively neighborhood atmosphere.
What sets this place apart, though, is its unique selection of regional products from Uruguay.
It's not every day that you get to savor these in our part of town.
The croissant with ham and cheese is another personal favorite, perfect for a quick breakfast or a light snack.
However, not all experiences here have been stellar.
On one occasion, I ordered Medialunas saladas and a Sandwich de miga to go but found them quite average.
The Empanadas, both meat, and spinach, lacked the flavorful punch I was expecting.
Not to mention the sight of the bakers bringing in fresh goodies, greeting everyone with a wide smile.
Pigeon Peas!
"There's no love sincerer than the love of food," George Bernard Shaw once said.
And at Pigeon Peas, I've found my love for Caribbean food reaffirmed.
This place is a fusion of traditional and modern, a perfect blend of authenticity and innovation that reflects in every dish they serve.
I eagerly informed her that I was preparing for a foodie expedition, having heard rave reviews about their menu.
And boy, did they live up to the hype!
I was thrilled to see a variety of options, from their “beef” patty, “chicken” patty, and the callaloo patty to the vegan oxtails with rice and peas.
While the patties could use a bit more filling, the flaky dough and perfect texture made up for it.
The dinner, beautifully presented, managed to satiate both my eyes and my taste buds.
The rice and oxtails might have been slightly lacking in flavor, but the callaloo was simply out of this world.
Paired with a refreshing fresh juice, it was a meal that left me full and satisfied.
Repeat visits led me to explore the regular beef & salmon patties, the jerk chicken with its unique sweet touch, and a solidly delicious oxtail.
One day, I noticed Vegan Ox Tail listed as an option on UberEats.
Curiosity piqued, I picked up the phone and dialed
Pigeon Peas, and to my delight, they confirmed it was indeed a real menu option.
The meal was an experience in and of itself.
The Vegan Ox Tail was so authentically flavored, so texturally similar to actual Ox Tail, that it had both me and my mom marveling at the magic of vegan alternatives.
Agora
Once upon a lazy Sunday morning, I found myself stepping into the warm embrace of Agora, drawn in by the smell of freshly baked pastries wafting out into the brisk morning air.
This delightful breakfast spot is much more than just a bakery - it's a full-fledged restaurant with table service and a bountiful display of pastries that are nothing short of a feast for the eyes.
We chose a lovely table by the counter, enticed by the sight of mini croissants and the sound of orders being rung up with a cheerful jingle of a bell.
I started my breakfast journey with a matcha latte with almond milk, a sweet culinary blend that was just the right mix of creamy and frothy.
Then came the pièce de résistance - a scrumptious egg white power house omelet.
Bursting with avocado and large enough to be a meal for two, it was served with a side of assorted fruits that included a delightful mix of berries and bananas.
Meanwhile, my partner devoured a bacon, egg, and cheese croissant sandwich, raving about every bite.
We also decided to share a cranberry scone - a decision we didn't regret.
The scone was so incredibly delicious it now holds the title of my all-time favorite.
Despite its popularity and the constant hum of activity, Agora maintains an efficient and friendly atmosphere.
Plus, their market selection is quite impressive, offering everything from cheese pies to sourdough rye loaves.

I still remember the first time I stepped into So Juicy; it felt like I was walking into a mouthwatering world of Asian flavors and innovative dishes.
One of my favorites at So Juicy is their hibachi.
The noodles they serve with it are something to write home about.
They're a side item, yet they are so fresh, and the flavor profile is something I can never quite put my finger on - it's salty, sweet, peppery, buttery, and tangy all at once!
Not to mention, their ginger dressing on the salads is beyond fresh and flavorful.
It's the attention to detail that really makes this place stand out.
And can we talk about the veggies?
They're never overcooked and maintain a delightful crunchiness.
The quality of their fish and meat is exceptional, too – nothing is overly salted, so you can actually taste the meat.
And their soup - oh boy, it's so satisfying and flavorful, it's hard to believe that it comes with the hibachi.
Another highlight is their touch screens for ordering.
All the menu items are clearly displayed, and it makes the ordering process smooth and efficient.
However, I did notice that not all items have a picture displayed, which can be a bit confusing, so there's a little room for improvement there.
The portion sizes won't disappoint you, either.
They're pretty standard, and the pricing is on par with what you'd expect from such a quality place.

And for the cherry on top, they also have live music.
Nothing complements a delicious meal like some good tunes.
Casa De Flora Bar
The moment I stepped into Casa De Flora Bar, I was enchanted.
The ambiance is like no other; it’s like walking into an intimate garden, picturesque in every sense, perfect for capturing Instagram-worthy moments.
The service was quick, and they got everything spot-on every time.
I was there for dinner, and I must say, the food was an absolute delight.
The spinach & chicken ravioli was bursting with flavors so much that I found myself ordering a second plate.
I had the chance to sample a variety of dishes - fish, caesar salad, shrimp, grits, chicken, and waffles - all of which were scrumptious.
Manouche & Co
When you step into Manouche & Co, you are immediately carried away to the heart of the Mediterranean.
The scent of freshly baked bread and the sweet aroma of spices fill the air.
One of the exciting things about dining here is the variety and authenticity of the dishes.
The grape leaves, packed with flavor, are a must-try.
They are perfectly cooked and served with a tangy and refreshing dip that sets your taste buds on a delightful journey.

It's easy to order a lot more than you can eat!
Every dish I've tried has been a hit, leaving me utterly speechless and wanting more.

The restaurant is impeccably clean, well-decorated, and has a very inviting atmosphere.

Imagine having an entire restaurant to yourself on a Friday night - that's exactly the kind of unique experience I enjoyed at The Casserole Bistro.
With the pandemic still causing uncertainty, the serenity of the place added an uncanny charm to the evening.
The menu left us spoilt for choice.
We started off with an array of appetizers - the standout being the avocado with crab salad, which was an absolute delight.
The cheesesteak egg rolls were also a hit on the table, although the calamari left us wanting, as it was a bit too tough for our liking.
For the main course, I opted for the pork chop arabiata, and while I relished every bite of it, I did wish it had a bit more of a kick.
My partner, on the other hand, went with the chicken marsala.
Another bonus is that it's BYOB, so feel free to bring along your favorite bottle of wine to complement your meal.
The cherry on top was the desserts - the homemade butter pecan banana bread pudding was divine, and the lava cake was the perfect sweet ending to our meal.

One of the best-kept secrets of our township has to be Anthony's Cheesecake & Restaurant.

They are so versatile; they even managed to create a tiered cheesecake for a wedding once!
I have yet to attend a brunch session, but from what I hear, it's an absolute delight.
Blue Steel Pizza Company
You know the feeling when you walk into a place, and you instantly know that this is going to be special?
That's how it felt when I first stepped into Blue Steel Pizza Company.
Tucked away in our township, this place boasts of an enticing blend of intriguing mystery and delicious food.
The first thing to note about the Blue Steel Pizza Company is the dark and moody ambiance - it's like walking into a secret society club with a hidden bar that only the regulars know about.
I was blown away by the upscale Detroit-style pizzas they craft here.
The crust is perfectly crispy, and the flavors are robust.

My kids absolutely adore their K-Style Corn dogs.
And I must confess, I cannot resist their Potato Half & Half dog either.

You'd be forgiven for not knowing about it - it's a bit of an unassuming place, you see, but oh, does it pack a punch.
Now, let me tell you about my most recent experience at Cafe Moso.
I was there on a Friday evening, relaxing after a long week.
I ordered the fried seafood special - truly a divine choice.
The dish was served with a muffin that was so delicious it could stand alone on the menu.
But the true star of the night, as always, was the Baked Mac & Cheese.
It was a gooey, creamy, cheesy delight encased in a golden crust and topped off with a smattering of scallions.
I'm telling you, it's a dish I would gladly have every day if I could.
I recently enjoyed a hanger steak while my friend savored some vegetarian tacos.
We shared a side of Mac and cheese and brussels sprouts - a combination that somehow worked perfectly!

The servings were generous, though I wouldn't have minded a tad bit more.

I usually stick to the classic pepperoni, and it has never failed to satiate my pizza cravings.
But, pizzas aside, the other dishes are equally tempting.
I've always started my meal with the Caesar salad and Rodolfo's knots - fluffy and perfectly seasoned.
Homemade sodas are a must-try as well.
And the best part?

Nami Nori (Montclair)
Did you know that we don't have to cross the Hudson River to savor the taste of New York City's sushi?
Yes, that's right!
Nami Nori, a much-loved Japanese eatery in NYC, has graced our beloved Montclair with its presence.
My lunchtime routine is now incomplete without a visit to Nami Nori.
Their lunch special is my absolute go-to — $20 for 3 rolls and two appetizers, an absolute steal, in my opinion.
The array of vegetarian options is a delight to those who have a plant-based diet.
My personal favorites are the avocado toast and sweet potato.
The magic of Nami Nori doesn't just stop at lunch.
For dinner, I usually opt for the signature set.
Every piece in the set is a culinary masterpiece, especially the coconut shrimp, which is now my new obsession.
One thing I love about Nami Nori is their clean, bright, and modern setting.
The minimalist chic decor and soothing ambiance make it a perfect spot for both casual lunches and date nights.

Ever had that kind of hunger that only a heavenly rotisserie chicken can satisfy?
That's me every time I remember Kai Yang.
I kid you not; the rotisserie chicken at this cute Thai restaurant is to die for.
If you're in Montclair and you fancy a taste of Thailand right at your doorstep, then you should visit Kai Yang, on Main Street.
I made my first visit on my birthday.
The place was well-kept and had a charming atmosphere that immediately lifted my spirits.
As a vegetarian, I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of veggie options on the menu.
My personal favorite is the Veggie puffs, but the chicken satay is a hit among my non-vegetarian friends.
Do you like salads?
The Papaya salad is a must-try.
I recommend asking them to make it medium spicy to balance the taste.
I'm not usually a fan of spicy food, but I must admit, it's a wonderful blend that leaves your taste buds dancing.
I have also enjoyed their Pad Kee Mao in vegetarian and shrimp versions, along with chicken gravy and rice.
The meals are so generously portioned that I always leave with leftovers, which taste just as great the next day.
Laboratorio Kitchen (Montclair)
I have to tell you about this hidden culinary gem in our town, Laboratorio Kitchen.
One visit to this upscale American restaurant, and you'll be hooked.
Trust me, I've been there more times than I can count, and each visit is a new culinary adventure.
One of the standouts during my numerous visits was when I attended a bridal shower there.
Laboratorio Kitchen did not disappoint.
The food was nothing short of incredible.
I still have vivid memories of their caramelized peach and prosciutto - it was so good that not a single morsel was left on our table.
The chicken palliard was moist and flavorful, and the lemon pepper pasta was cooked to perfection.
But that's not the only special experience I've had there.
I was taken aback by the depth of flavors in the special caramelized Georgia peaches & ricotta/prosciutto appetizer; it was surprisingly filling!
The scallop dish served with a cauliflower puree was just perfect.
The dessert options are irresistible too.
My summer birthday was made even more special with fresh berries & cream.
They even surprised me with a candle for my birthday celebration, such a nice touch!
They also take dietary preferences and restrictions seriously.
They once made a custom plant-based menu for a friend of mine.
