The food was incredible yet again.

I tried their clam chowder bread bowl and sweet and spicy wings, which were quite flavorsome.

The lobster Mac n cheese could have used a bit more cheese for my liking, but the generous portion of lobster meat made up for it.

I also savored their new old-fashioned drink and sazarac, which was an interesting blend with a hint of absinthe - definitely not for the faint-hearted!

What adds to the charm of Rokka Grill & Whiskey Bar is the decor and the low lighting that creates a warm, inviting atmosphere.

They have TVs, but rather than displaying sports or news, they showcase their offerings and some cool background scenery.

The food there is outstanding, to put it simply.

So packed with flavors it's like a fiesta in your mouth.

I particularly loved their taco with cheese and shrimp, served with a side salad and a broth soup.

It was heavenly.

Their menu offers a range of authentic dishes, and they change it up with daily specials too.

The ingredients are fresh, and it all tastes, well, homemade.

It's almost like you're dining in someone's kitchen, not a restaurant.

One dish that stands out, and is my go-to now, is their Tacos Gobernador - shrimp and cheese in a buttery sauce, wrapped in a warm tortilla - it's an explosion of flavors you'd not want to miss.

And to top off the mouth-watering food, the people running the place are just very welcoming and accommodating.

My first order was the Dragon Roll, and I must say, the sushi bar didn't disappoint.

My Dragon Roll was ready in about 8 minutes and tasted incredibly fresh.

The Oven Pizza Parlor

So, the other night, my daughters and I decided to try out The Oven Pizza Parlor.

It's a local pizzeria we've been hearing a lot about lately.

We didn't know what to expect, but let's just say we were more than pleasantly surprised.

My kids can be quite fussy when it comes to food, but not this time.

We ordered their Supreme pizza, and it was just heavenly.

The combination of ingredients was perfect, and the crust was just the right amount of crunchy.

They serviced my daughters' favorite, pepperoni pizza, and boy, they loved it.

Their Thai iced tea is also something worth trying, it's the perfect amount of sweet and refreshing.

Yoguis Restaurant

Whenever I feel the urge to wrap myself in the comforting flavors of authentic Mexican cuisine, Yoguis Restaurant in Bellflower is the place I turn to.

Tucked away in a small strip mall, this restaurant is one of the finest jewels in the burgeoning local culinary scene.

As soon as you step inside, the beautifully decorated walls captivate your attention, and the aroma of freshly made tortillas instantly whets your appetite.

A TV, hanging towards the center, plays Spanish music videos, adding to the vibrant atmosphere.

I appreciate the fact that there's a wealth of vegetarian options on the menu – a testament to their inclusivity.

The nachos, tiny crispy triangles drenched in nacho cheese, are an absolute delight.

But what truly takes me back to Mexico is their tacos, especially Al Pastor – I cannot recommend them enough!

I remember getting the Ultimate Salmon roll, oh boy, it's now my absolute favorite!

The layers of flavor, the thin lemon slice, and the tiny dot of chili took me on a culinary journey I didn't want to end.

Initially, I thought it was a tad bit expensive, but its exquisiteness justified every penny.

For beginners, I highly recommend starting with their spicy tuna on crispy rice.

It's a delicious introduction to sushi.

And let me tell you, I was not disappointed.

I also fell in love with their eel sauce and the salmon, they're to die for!

Taqueria Wen Chef

The highlight of the trip, however, is undoubtedly the food.

The lasagna here is a delight.

Prepared with just the right balance of cheese and tomato sauce, it's a dish that my partner zealously guards against my fork's invasion.

It's become a playful routine, our love for their lasagna.

But Marino's is not just about lasagna.

Their garlic bread, crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, is another must-try.

Uncle Bud's Kitchen

Uncle Bud's Kitchen is one of those spots that feels like a hidden gem tucked away in our little corner of the world.

This site here will give you a glimpse, but let me share my personal experience.

It's an old-school mom-and-pop place that feels like it's been lifted straight from North Carolina.

The biscuits and gravy?

Absolute best in the city, hands down!

You step in, and it's a bit snug, seating maybe 20 people or so, but that's part of its charm.

It's got that bustling, lively feel of a community breakfast joint, especially on weekends when it's usually packed.

Last time, I ordered the corned beef hash benedict.

Let me tell you, it was so good that I finished the whole thing.

My partner got the corned beef hash & eggs and was equally pleased with them.

We decided to share a pancake, even though I'm not a big fan of pancakes.

But this one?

It was surprisingly good.

And the service is quick, so you're not left waiting for your food.
